Just Checking
Perhaps our only sickness is to desire a truth which we cannot bear rather than to rest content with the fictions we manufacture out of each other. Lawrence Durrell

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing?  Everyone staying healthy?  Family doing OK?

So far so good in my household.  I am working from home.  Husband on 3 10 hr days, daughter staying safe, son online schooling.  I head out to the store one or two times a week - as early as possible.  My freezer is full, my cupboards are full- we are good to go.

Hope everyone is well!!!!!

Things are okay here.  I decided this home confinement will give me the time to do spring cleaning and I plan to paint the kitchen/alcove.  I hope you and yours are okay.

Kind of the same here. Decided to paint the bedroom. One wrong thing I did was buy cheap rollers. Bad mistake. They were leaving fuzzies on the wall. Won't make that mistake again.

Also the yard has never looked better. Though it has made me want to go out and buy new plants and flowers, which would kind of defeat the purpose of staying home.

Thank you for this article. Glad to hear you're doing well. So am I. My business has been dead since early March but it will be fine when this eases up.

Only issue is that I'm eating too much. When this is over I may be contacting the producers of My Six Hundred Pound Life.

Everyone in my family is healthy and handling things as well as can be expected. The grandkids are well but chafing at the inactivity. My 8 year old emotional self is still trying to find a way up to Vegas for the weekend. Doesn't matter that everything is closed.  It's just like the old "don't stick beans up your nose"..  the more you tell me I can't do something my emotional self tries to do it.

Hope everybody is staying safe and healthy and comes out the other side of this ok.

We are all okay here, thank you. We are still employed though that could change. Our area's largest hospital announced 500 administrative layoffs early last night. Other than that we still seem to be laughing at each other and I think B is getting closer to getting a new dog than she was before the virus.

Dear Veronica: I have lost abut fourteen pounds since the virus hit our area.

I eat less because I cannot go outside, and must restrict physical movement form where it was before my surgery.

I do walk outside with my wife on dry warm days.

We are supposed to wear masks.

We do not know of any stores which are open that sell them.

Ideas?

Regarding listing as friends, I am posted on the second page of your home page as your friend.

I am not sure how to get you the chance to re-post your self as my friend on my home page here.

My Dear Friend Enoch,

I am not sure where to get masks in our area.  If I go to work they give me one at the door.  My husband brought home paint masks from his job for me.  All the stores I know are sold out.  My husband checked out the online instructions in making them from paper napkins.

I was going out for daily walks when the remote work began, then I came down with whatever it was I had & I was pretty much confined to the guest room.  I missed the fresh air and went out first thing this morning.

I will send the invite & message you see if that helps.

All is good so far.

My great niece is a front line health care worker (RN) in PA and we're worried about her since she doesn't have all the protective gear.

Grandaughter in Australia is a PA and is going door to door to check on the elderly/disabled and people with no relative and administers their meds, check for the virus and make sure that they are doing OK.

Damn worried about her.

My grandson is EMT in NSW and is in the middle of the battle against the virus.

All are OK as of last night.

A/noon Kavika...Yes we are in this battle together and hope your rellies up North will be OK..so far we have 20 lost souls here and I am in stage 3 lock down in Victoria....Have been for over a week, my own doing anyway due to my compromised immune system. They are looking at doing my stem cell transplant in the next week or two..So just waiting to hear from them down Melbourne...Timing not the worlds greatest but it is what it is and just have to go with it.. Hard to believe all this multiple myeloma crap started 12 months ago now...Great way to start retirement!!...However so far I think we are in a lot better shape at the moment than many other countries, but still preparing for the worst...NZ is in 4 weeks lock down and they are at stage 4..so we are watching to see how that goes..At the end of the day as one specialist said here.."The virus can't move itself, it takes a human to do it"..dead right...So we need to stop going out or associating with people as much as possible...A simple thing but it could be your life or someone else's...So as the world does battle with this darkness, hang on, ride it out and with luck the light will once again return...I wish you all well across the Pacific..Yes we are at war, with an enemy we can't see, but with guts and determination we will see it through...Stay well and stay safe from the Land Down Under...

Best to let the virus die out on its own.

Being social animals we can be in touch by technology.

We did out first Pesach (Passover) family Seder on line last night.

Tonight we do the second the same way,

Some times we just need to look in the odd places for it.

Glad to hear you are well.  A ride might do wonders.  Our employer is suggesting exercise (walking outside).  I did take one on Friday, but it has been raining here since then and I hate being soggy.

We are good on TP, but I figure I can always use a wash cloth, since it appears laundry detergent & soap are not one of the big ticket items (there is still plenty of both in our stores).

Difficult times. I'm home most of the time but now without an excuse not to get my fruit trees pruned and the garden ready to plant. Already have seeds going.

My wife is still working part time but they are on a skeleton staff, security only.

We are putting new line on our fishing rods and hitting the creeks for salmon and the lakes for crappy this week.

The hardest part is that neither of us has been able to hug our moms in over a month now. We're huggers so waving from afar just isn't cutting it but both are over 80 and we just can't chance it as long as my wife isn't away from cooties for at least 14 days. It doesn't look like that's going to happen so no XOXOXO for any of us.

Well, things are OK here. I lost a friend this past weekend to covid. I knew it would happen sooner or later On the bright side, my friend's son who had it, has recovered, so there's that.

The hardest part is not seeing my daughters. They are both in the health field and they're exposed. We have my father in law on the weekends, so we have to be very careful about contact.

Doing some binge watching. I am having an odd tax season. The usual rush for those who had refunds coming, but those who owe, are going to wait till July, which really sucks for me. Lots of work during the nice months...

Oh and my daughter's wedding was put off for a year, which she didn't take too well, but that is life.

I hope all my NT friends and their loved ones are surviving

We are in Chongqing which is 540 miles from Wuhan which was the epicentre of the virus here.  The population of Chongqing, which is a city-state is 32 million.  The latest info for here that I got is that there were 578 cases, 6 deaths (1% mortality rate) and all but 2 have recovered, with no new cases for at least 3 weeks. Except that the schools/universities are still closed, things are returning to normal.  Stores and restaurants are reopening, but people are still wearing masks.  The info I get is verified by a good friend of mine here who is a doctor in the local major university-connected hospital.  My wife and I are fine and none of my wife's extended family or my nephew's wife's extended family or any of our friends or their families were touched by the virus.  If the ridiculous numbers being quoted by some of NT members were correct, that could not be possible.

I am doing OK if you consider a case of cabin fever of biblical proportions being ok. I live in an assisted living facility and they have us on semi lock down. We are supposed to be in our apartments if we don't have good reason to be out. At first they had some activities planned games, excercise and movies mostly and they were making up puzzle books to occupy our time. Unfortunately for us inmates here, most of the activities staff have taken off for various reasons. I have considered faking a fall with injury just to have them send me to the ER for a change of scenery

If so find some recipes and give it a fling..Google all the countries and places you would have liked to visit...I have been in lock down for over a week but I have a house and garden and can still go outside etc but stay on your block of land..Anyway good luck, stay well and like all things this will pass in time...in the meantime just make the best of it and hang in there...

Thank you all for commenting.  I am just getting back into the swing of things after a self imposed isolation in my guest room.  I was feeling a tad out of sorts and a major headcold seemed to set in.  With my daughter's compromised immune issue I banished myself.  I did a lot of sleeping, a little TV binging (finally finished HAVEN), very little eating, some reading (Kindle & real books), and a lot of sleeping (again).

I will be making my way through the comments here and responding. I hope everyone is still doing well.

I do see the same fights are continuing - just under new titles.
