Shamelessly pandering for the Hispanic vote
"Does @JoeBiden realize that Despacito means 'slowly'? Fits well with Slow Joe," Trump campaign senior adviser Mercedes Schlapp quipped.

Yesterday, most likely after hearing the news that the President is doing well among Hispanic voters in the key state of Florida, Joe Biden tried to pull an amazing stunt. In front of a tiny group of Hispanic supporters he walked out to the podium and reached for his cell phone: "I just have one thing to say," he said, as he looked down at his phone. "Hang on here." He then managed to hold his phone to the microphone, which began playing the 2017 hit song "Despacito" from Fonsi, who had introduced the candidate.

He nodded his head a bit then shut it off and said: "I'll tell you what — if I had the talent of any one of these people, I'd be elected president by acclamation!"

Isn't this insulting to Hispanics?

To pander in such a way as to pretend he likes the music!  That's it give him your vote!

Florida is a key state in the coming election. During the 2018 midterms when democrats had done better than they had in a long time, it was Florida that went Republican, so democrats are worried about any overly optimistic expectations for the state. To help the DNC focus money elsewhere, Mike Bloomberg just stepped up to make a big pledge:

"Billionaire Michael Bloomberg pledged to spend as much as $100 million to boost Joe Biden in the crucial swing state of Florida, where polls show President Trump and the Democratic presidential nominee in a neck-and-neck race less than two months from Election Day."

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Florida will remain red and yesterday's little performance by Biden just turned off a lot of Hispanic voters.

But the topic is shameless pandering, how can Trump who shamelessly panders to white conservative Christians daily not be part of the topic?

The seed even states " polls show President Trump and the Democratic presidential nominee in a neck-and-neck race" so he is part of this discussion.

Trying to block any counter arguments against Trump and his own recent obvious pandering to Latino's just because you hate Democrats and love Trump is just sad.

"President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday with the goal of expanding job and educational opportunities as he seeks Latino support, about 100 days before the November elections.

The good old "But Trump" defense!

[DELETED]

Gee, who couldn't see THAT coming?

I should hope you could see it coming since these two men are running for the highest elected position in the land. To proclaim bashing one for his pandering is fair but bashing the other for worse pandering is off limits obviously invites a rebuttal.

I didn't start with "But Biden", so forget that crap.

Got anything relevant?

Democratic examples of inclusivity and diverseness:

"I ain't no ways tired!"

"I always carry a bottle of hot c=sauce in my purse!"

"Think of me as your abuela!"

Biden is just Hispandering.

Disgusting pandering to the great majority of thinking America. Just normal every day policy to hard core leftist liberal Democrats. I am of Mexican American/Native American/Castillian Spaniard heritage on my mother's side and I find Biden's antics disgusting!

Oh come off that horse, Trump is just as bad in public, worse if half of what Mike Cohen or Mary Trump have written is correct.

What pol doesn't pander to voting blocks?

Mexican American/Native American/Castillian Spaniard heritage on my mother's side

Perfectly describes my bride on her fathers side.

My mother was Hispanic as well, and I grew up listening to Latin American music. I've visited family and friends in South America many times and had great fun during "Carnival". But as you can see, some people automatically assumed I don't know anything about Latin American music only because I disapprove of Joe Biden's pandering and praise for lyrics he clearly doesn't understand.

This year the Puerto Rican population will surpass the Cuban population in Florida. Columbians number over one million. The face of the Hispanic population is changing. There is still a large Cuban population but no longer the dominant Hispanic group. Cubans lean republican and PR lean democratic as do Columbians and Mexicans which has also become a large group within the Hispanic community.

Florida also has one of the largest Black communities in the US.

This year's election in Florida is going to be interesting.

As of 2017 the PR population was 1.2 million. In the last three years that population has exploded.

Isn't this insulting to Hispanics?

Obviously not to the Hispanics that were at the event.

To pander in such a way as to pretend he likes the music!

At least Biden got the consent of the artist before he played his music.

"I'll tell you what — if I had the talent of any one of these people

MORE evidence that Biden parrots whatever his handlers tell him to say ... like a submissive child.  It doesn't take talent to write sexist and demeaning "lyrics".

(English translation)

Does the Harris-Biden ticket really think that they'll win Hispanic/Latino votes with that garbage?

HOW are those sexist and demeaning?

Does the Harris-Biden ticket really think that they'll win Hispanic/Latino votes with that garbage?

Yes since 'that garbage' received almost every top Latin Grammy award the year it was released.

There's no accounting for taste.

There is a difference between not enjoying music and stating that it is sexist and demeaning as you did. I don't hold you accountable for your taste in music, I do hold you accountable for your opinion of it's content.
