Hillary Clinton joins Electoral College 4 years after it cost her the presidency: 'Pretty sure I'll get to vote for Joe'
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the 2016 presidential election because of the Electoral College. This year, she is slated to be a participant in that system.
The Electoral College is comprised of 538 delegates: People who cast the votes that formally elect the president. It's a system that tends to give smaller states a larger voice in the process of electing the president, and one that Clinton has publicly opposed in the past.
This year, Clinton is listed by New York State Board of Elections as one of 29 Democratic electors for the state. If Joe Biden wins the popular vote in New York, Clinton and the 28 other electors will vote for him to be the next president.
"Pretty sure I'll get to vote for Joe and Kamala in New York ... I can't wait," Clinton said in an interview aired on SiriusXM Progress. The Democratic candidate for president has carried New York for the past eight presidential elections, according to 270towin.com.
The Electoral College can pick a president who got fewer votes: Here's why and how.
New York has taken steps to move away from the Electoral College: The state is part of the National Popular Vote Compact. If enough states sign on to this effort, the Electoral College will chose the candidate who wins the national popular vote.
Earlier this week, Clinton weighed in on the 2020 election, saying the thought of a second term with President Donald Trump makes her "literally sick to my stomach."
"I can't entertain the idea of him winning, so let's just preface it by that," Clinton told Kara Swisher, as a guest on Swisher's New York Times Opinion podcast.
"It makes me literally sick to my stomach to think that we'd have four more years of this abuse and destruction of our institutions, and damaging of our norms and our values, and lessening of our leadership ... The list goes on," she said.

Well I guess she found a relevance gig.............LOL
Mrs Clinton is a retired wife and grandmother. She was a highly honored student who has always shown leadership qualities. She was an outstanding private lawyer as a young woman while serving Arkansas as their first lady for four terms before honorably serving two terms as America's First Lady. That would have been enough for about anyone else but driven by her desire to serve she was twice elected a United States Senator from New York before serving a full four year term as Secretary of State under President Obama. She received three million more votes but lost the Electoral College to Trump four years ago. She along with her husband the two term former President reside in New York where they are rightly cherished as our elder statespersons.
The President's and First Lady's taxes have been made public their entire public careers. Every penny they ever earned or spent has been publicly audited and examined under a microscope. Their charitable foundation was famously the most audited public organization in history. Despite their transparency the Clintons have been unsuccessfully investigated by dozens of gop House and Senate committees that never once found any evidence of crimes by either of the Clintons except that Bill lied about an affair with a much younger woman. Even this humiliation Mrs Clinton bore with dignity and preternatural grace while preserving her family and her marriage. I think she deserves her retirement.
Go ahead on and belittle her. It makes you seem cool. /s No wonder the damn gop is declining. We can practically smell the resentments of goppers!
Belittle? That's a bit rich isn't it? I didn't belittle her at all. Just said she found a relevance gig.
So do I so why does every move she makes make a headline? The answer is easy if you think about it.
Wow. That's an outstanding resume. I made my resume sound awesome too.
Some find it distasteful that she stayed with her cheating husband, but then again, getting a divorce would break that façade of a "perfect American family." And before you can retort with "Trump is a cheating bastard too..." I know and I find it equally disgusting. It doesn't change the fact that I find Hillary just as repulsive, condescending, and dismissive of others outside of her personal circle.
Same reason every move Trump makes now and in the future will make headlines.
Yes, yes it is...
I have known Mrs Clinton professionally since 1987-88. My company then did a lot of work with her law firm in Little Rock. She did not work for us but she was always around the office or popping in at lunch with the lawyers I was very often working with. She was friendly and likeable though kind of too serious, nerdy, all business and always in a hurry. She never sat down to eat. She was always on the run. Back then I never heard a word against her. Of course everyone in Arkansas knew Bill was a scoundrel and a womanizer.
Currently she is a suburban Methodist church l lady who spends most of her time fussing over her grandchildren and the aging former President. You are correct that she is unfailingly thoughtful of her inner circle of assistants, friends and retainers. She is famous for never missing an opportunity to honor a birthday, recognize a loss in the family or send an appropriate baby or wedding gift.
I believe she infuriates you but I don't get why.
I don't see much about Mrs Clinton in the news. The tabloids do hound her and her family though. You wouldn't believe the security required to keep Chelsea's children safe. All of the Clintons receive serious death threats all the time. The far right seems to still be obsessed with her though. To hear the Fox News talking heads you'd think she was Grand Master of The Illuminati, Chairman of The New World Order and Head Witch...
I think she mainly resides in your nightmares.
The boogeywoman of rightwing sweaty fever dreams who flys on a broom and eats babies.
In real life she is an old lady who reads a lot...
Not to mention? You just did. So, back it up!
Infuriates me, no. Very little infuriates me. I find her pretentious and condescending; although, I find most political figures pretentious and condescending. I also find most elitists to be that way. You bragging about who you know seems a bit pretentious too, but that's just my personal opinion; the information you're sharing has nothing to do with you, but you make sure you let everyone know that you've been in her presence. I never said anything about her making me angry or upset in any way. I simply stated that some find it distasteful that she made the decision to stay with her cheating, and in your words, scoundrel and womanizing husband. None of which takes away her being a doting grandmother or mother.
Poor Marla & Melania, although it's much easier to call Melania a little pretentious and condescending than it is Marla who disappeared from the public almost altogether.
I even stated that I find elitists condescending and pretentious, but I guess you missed that part?
Doesn't it seem a little odd that Hillary would actually join the body she called to be abolished?
If you can't beat them, join them, right?
My intention was not to start a fight, sorry.
Me neither. That's never my intention.
"Things that make you go HMMMMMM......"
I suppose it is easier to tear things down from the inside!
I wonder if she got her Russian Voter Guide, yet. I hear that's how that the previous president was elected.
