The Long Journey of Ted Wheeler
"I saved you", cried that woman "And you've bit me even, why? You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die" "Oh shut up, silly woman", said the reptile with a grin "You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in

We the People

It all began when George Floyd died. There were riots in big blue cities across the nation. One of the hardest hit was Portland Oregon. It's mayor, Ted Wheeler related to the protestors. He had his police department stand down. He let the mob do whatever it wanted. Nobody was punished. Eventually the rioters turned on the federal courthouse. federal agents were deployed to the city in July 2020, and there were episodes of violent confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement. As usual, Wheeler backed the mob, at the time he said: "This is not the America we want. This is not the Portland we want. We're demanding that the President remove these additional troops that he sent to our city. It is not helping to contain or deescalate the situation."

Next they turned on him. On August 31, protesters gathered outside Wheeler's condo, demanding that he resign. Police responded after the group lit fires, broke windows, and set a small fire in a nearby business. Portland Police finally declared the riot a "riot." On September 2 Wheeler said he was leaving his apartment building due to safety concerns posed by the ongoing protests; he apologized to fellow building residents "for the damage to our home and the fear that you are experiencing due to my position."

Then on New Years Day 2021, Wheeler began to have a change of heart. He then vowed "zero tolerance" for any further violence from the likes of antifa and the mob! What a transformation!  It's amazing what 200 day of violence and mayhem can do to a progressive mayor.

Finally a mob member has doxed & threatened him:

"Late last week Portland, Ore., Mayor Ted Wheeler took to video to plea for the community’s help to “unmask” antifa. The violence-prone anarchist-fascist group has terrorized Portland with months of violent and destructive insurrectionist riots despite Joe Biden merely calling antifa an “idea.”
Someone purporting to represent antifa has responded to Wheeler with a new video. In this video, the masked individual pushes anti-American themes and publishes Wheeler’s home. address. The individual finishes the disturbing presentation with a veiled threat to kill Mayor Wheeler."

Can we conclude that Ted is no longer a progressive?

My advice for the new Ted Wheeler:  Maybe now you'll understand the importance of law and order. Maybe now you can help us restore the safe and secure America we once knew. You know, Ted, when I was a boy of only 6 years old I used to watch a children's TV show. It promoted those values. I'd watch it and sleep like a baby, because I really believed those guys were out there for us. They claim it is the oldest TV film on YouTube.

For you Ted (a grown man):

Maybe he has started to figure out who actually votes in Portland, and who pays taxes there.

Pity it took him so long to man up.

I'm sure the taxpayers in Portland are majority Democrats, and the ones who 'actually vote there', and 'pay taxes there'.  It's the republicans who are always dodging paying their fair share.

Ridiculous nonsense.

Of course Republicans pay taxes in Portland. The very idea that they don't is just fucking crazy.

Do you think folks are asked what party they belong to when their taxes are assessed or something?

This story from Williams sounds like it was made up.  I don't believe anyone from anti-fa threatened him.  Sounds like another right wing agitator claiming that they were anti-fa that threatened him.

BLM, I believe, had protests before Mr. Floyd was killed by that murdering Chauvin.  Because of all the other unarmed black men and women and children murdered by police ON A DAILY BASIS.  It happens EVERY DAY!

How long are the days on your planet? There have only been 30 black men shot by police so far this year and not all of them have died and not all those that died were murdered. That is fare less than even one a day on this planet.

I guess that new progressive math works where 20% equals 100%.

Amazing shit, isn't it?

You are free to doubt it, but it would be unwise to doubt facts, even when they are unpleasant.

There is little in this "article" to suggest that Wheeler's political views have changed at all.  It seems like wishful thinking.

The budget he recently released seems pretty progressive to me.

It doesn't.  It was an assumption by some, that we're not meant to question.  Right up there with equating progressives with anarchists - we aren't meant to question that bit of vilification, either.

Wheeler's own recent words seem a more trustworthy testimony to his political views.

You are right (never thought you'd hear that from me did ya), he is still a progressive but then he started out as a moron and will always be one.
