Ah, the poor progressives can no longer use masks for virtue signaling or to act like Karens toward those not wearing one. The medical evidence is so strong as to they’re not being needed that there was no compelling need to try to coerce the wearing of the symbol of our loyalty to the regime. That some are mad at the President and plan to continue wearing them out of fear of being identified as a Republican if they take it off is truly funny. jrSmiley_10_smiley_image.gif jrSmiley_86_smiley_image.gif jrSmiley_91_smiley_image.gif

  • Progressives voiced their dismay following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated guidance that vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors.
  • “The CDC has done an about-face that’s shockingly abrupt: it’s confusing & could actually disincentivize vaccines,” said Dr. Leana Wen, a George Washington University public health professor.
  • The United Food and Commercial Workers, a union comprised of 1.3 million retail and food workers, condemned the announcement and said essential workers will be hurt by the guidance.

Progressives voiced their dismay following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated guidance that vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors.

Progressives and medical experts immediately criticized the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  mask guidelines , arguing that the alteration was extreme and would be harmful to certain parts of the population. Others said the new  guidance  is confusing and disincentivizes people to get vaccinated.

“The CDC has done an about-face that’s shockingly abrupt: it’s confusing & could actually disincentivize vaccines,” Dr. Leana Wen, a George Washington University public health professor,  tweeted  after the announcement Thursday.

“Yes, vaccinated people are well-protected and not a threat to others,” she said in a  later tweet . “But do we trust that the honor system—won’t unvaccinated people pretend to be vaccinated & stop wearing masks?”

The  new guidance  might endanger people who cannot receive the vaccine like children and immunocompromised individuals, Wen, who is also a CNN medical analyst,  wrote  in a Washington Post editorial Friday. Instead, the CDC should’ve slowly changed its guidance over an extended period of time, she said.

“This is too risky in my opinion,”  tweeted  Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist and Federation of American Scientists senior fellow, in response to the CDC announcement. “Asymptomatic transmission efficacy is only in the 70s-80s even for the best vaccines. Much lower for others and for some variants.”

Several other Twitter users  criticized  the decision and  vowed  to continue wearing masks  despite being vaccinated. Others responded to the White House tweet  about the new guidance,  saying  it “will get people sick” and that it  was  “foolhardy.”

The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), a union comprised of 1.3 million retail and food workers, condemned the announcement and said essential workers will be hurt by the guidance.

“Today’s CDC guidance is confusing and fails to consider how it will impact essential workers who face frequent exposure to individuals who are not vaccinated and refuse to wear masks,” UFCW President Marc Perrone said in a  statement .

“Millions of Americans are doing the right thing and getting vaccinated, but essential workers are still forced to play mask police for shoppers who are unvaccinated and refuse to follow local COVID safety measures,” he continued. “Are they now supposed to become the vaccination police?”

On Thursday afternoon, top White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci and CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced the new guidance during a press conference. Vaccinated people may return to most normal activities without wearing masks, according to the  new guidance .

Both Fauci and the CDC had  previously   said  vaccinated people should wear masks in most situations since they may still inadvertently transmit the virus.

“We have a responsibility to make recommendations based on a body of evidence and what the science tells us,” CDC spokesperson Jade Fulce told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement.

“In the past couple of weeks, we have seen additional data to show (1) these vaccines work in the real world, (2) they stand up to the variants, and (3) vaccinated people are less likely to transmit the virus,” Fulce said. “We needed to take the time to review the full body of evidence to get this right, and that’s how we came to this decision.”

Fulce didn’t specifically cite any of the additional data referenced in his statement.

Pandemic-weary New Yorkers had their hopes deflated Thursday when Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he wasn’t ready to ease the state’s mask mandate — even though the feds gave the green light for vaccinated Americans to finally show their faces and gather indoors again.

In a late-afternoon statement, Cuomo said he and Health Commissioner Howard Zucker had yet to decide if the Empire State would adopt newly announced guidelines from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“In New York, we have always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic and in our successful reopening,” Cuomo said.

“We have received the newly revised guidance from the CDC regarding mask wearing and social distancing for those with vaccinations and are reviewing them in consultation with Dr. Zucker and our partners and health experts in surrounding states.”

Hours earlier, CDC Director Rochelle Walenksy said, “Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities – large or small — without wearing a mask or physically distancing.”

Was this written by an idiot?  An immature child?  I'd be ashamed and embarrassed to post such immature garbage.  It makes no sense.  It's just random nonsense.

From here on out I will comment once on your 'articles' to debunk your nonsense and then move on.

What exactly in the seeded article is it that you think you have debunked?  I do see the bitterness in the loss of ability to mask shame non wearers any more.

It doesn't list any "progressives" complaining about the new CDC order.

Nothing has been debunked. That's their go to when they can't refute itand think saying it has been rebuked will make you go away.

Kinda like calling you a racist because they have no other argument.

Did you notice that they only listed a few names of people voicing concern, and provided ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that any of these people are progressives.

So:

Yes and apparently.

I'd be ashamed and embarrassed to post such immature garbage.

I'd also be ashamed to seed this partisan, uncorroborated, piece if shyte.

We are educated enough to decide when where and if it is prudent to wear a mask or not.  Progressives on the other hand need a nanny state to tell them what to do and when to do it.

Well, lifting the mask mandates also provide an incentive to be vaccinated.  If you're not vaccinated then you only put yourself at risk.  And with vaccines widely available, no one is going to feel sorry for those choosing to avoid being vaccinated.

BTW coughing on people is no longer a threat.  Those who have been vaccinated now have armor plating against assholes.

I ran a couple of errands this afternoon.  It was weird seeing people out and about without masks.  I'll probably continue to wear mine as long as business staff are required to wear one.  That won't last much longer anyway.

People not wearing a mask has been very rare here since last summer.  And this is Trump country.

Bi-coastal conservatives are no different than bi-coastal liberals.  California Republicans are as clueless about the heartland as are California Democrats.  That's why Iowa is going independent.  That's why Minnesota will become a toss-up.

Here is arizona it took forever for our governor to do anything g in regards to the pandemic, but businesses/cities/and individuals by and large didn’t wait. Occasionally I will see someone walking around without a mask on, but I’d say 99% of the people I see inside a building are abiding by the mandates. Most people aren’t dumb enough to see something as idiotic as wearing an article of clothing as defending freedom or some shit.

No.  Some who normally do not wear them like me do put one on when indoors in a crowd or a busy checkout line.  Outdoors almost no one wears them.  Now the science says that as a vaccinated person I now longer need one anywhere any time.

I’ve got my second round next week and then I’ll be fully vaccinated. I’ll still wear the mask in places that require it, because I’m not an attention seeking prick, but like you said I don’t see them requiring it too much longer.

Good for you!  The vaccine won't be fully effective for at least a week after the poke and waiting two weeks won't hurt.

Our county began receiving sufficient doses about two months sooner than I expected.  My turn came up at the end of March and I jumped on it.  Biggest bargain this century, knock on wood.

The way I look at it, store staff have no choice; they gotta work.  Being a prick would only prove I'm a prick by making everyone else miserable.  Making their job miserable won't prove anything.

Exactly, my wife work as is a manager for a major retailer and tells me all the time how she has to deal with people trying to cause a scene when they are asked to wear a mask and eventually it just gets to the point where she says something g along the lines of “look, I don’t set corporate policy, the mask mandate is in place until we hear otherwise.”

She, like all the other employees in retail and elsewhere are just doing their jobs, there is no point in being an asshole to them. If they had the ability to change corporate policy these idiots would not be talking to them. The people refusing to wear the masks and causing a scene are just doing it to draw attention to themselves because apparently they don’t get enough at home.

There’s a slight chance that part of my recent neurological issues I wasn’t previously aware of might have been triggered by my immune system in response to getting the vaccine.  It’s one of several possibilities at this point after all the specialists and testing I’ve been through
