Trump Sings Praises Of American Exceptionalism In Elaborate July 4 Salute
Trump didn’t make a single political statement during his speech today and instead honored every branch of the military.
CBS, ABC, NBC, and MSNBC all refused to air it.

Huge crowd, despite the earlier rain. His speech really made the leftist crazy attacks on him seem extra petty.
Via Fox News:
With the Lincoln Memorial in the background and flanked on both sides by camouflaged Bradley fighting vehicles, President Trump used his “Salute to America” speech Thursday evening to praise the men and women of the Armed Forces and American exceptionalism.
Despite concerns that he would use the Fourth of July event as a glorified campaign rally, Trump stuck mainly to the script during his speech – praising the spirit that “runs through the veins of every American patriot” and attempting to strike a more unifying and conciliatory tone than he is generally known to take.
“Today, we come together as one nation with this very special Salute to America,” a smiling Trump said. “We celebrate our history, our people, and the heroes who proudly defend our flag — the brave men and women of the United States military.”
From George Washington leading the Continental Army to the Apollo 11 moon landing, Trump rattled off a list of American accomplishments and inventions in the name of freedom, while surreptitiously sneaking in a boast about his administration’s accomplishments.
“Americans love our freedom and no one will ever take it away from us,” Trump said to chants of “U-S-A.” “Our nation is stronger today than it ever was before, it is stronger now stronger than ever.”

...Everybody knows America is number one, which is why, even among the hating class of Americans, no one ever leaves. Ta-Nehisi Coates and Spike Lee haven’t moved to France. Gavin Newsom isn’t moving to Mexico. Colin Kaepernick isn’t moving to Cuba. Lena Dunham, Bryan Cranston, Barbra Streisand and all the other celebrities who threatened/promised to move to Canada are still here. Hell, we can’t even get the Canadian-born whiners and haters (like Seth Rogen and Jim Carrey) to move back.
America didn’t complete the project of freedom on that broiling day in Philly, but that’s like saying your kid’s first day of school is no big deal because your kids can’t do algebra yet. On July 4, 1776, we began setting up the greatest opportunity for human flourishing the world has ever known, and our example continues to be the world’s beacon. The United States of America isn’t perfect. We’re merely the best....https://nypost.com/2019/07/03/this-fourth-of-july-why-have-we-lost-our-patriotism/
How many dozens of people showed up and how much did they pay them?
I don't know maybe you can find a photo of the Washington Mall from 5:AM, 2 days before the event.
Why would any of the major networks change their schedule to show this? They've never shown 4th of July shows from the nations capital on the major networks, it is always on PBS.
I watched Trump's show on CBSN, which they showed without any pundit commentary or any other announcer.
On the whole it was an embarrassment, although I guess seeing the military planes come directly over the crowd was pretty cool. Trump is WAY in over his head when he tries to narrate something like this. He's not that good at reading, quite frankly. Had they hired an actor to do the military narration it would have been a better show. But the whole thing was about Trump so of course he was the narrator, disastrously.
It was a gathering and speech that makes one proud to be anAmerican. Everyone I’ve spoken with is so proud of President Trump and our nation.
at our Senior resort gathering for the 4th, hundreds of us seniors cheered the president. Most of the men are Veterans and we agreed that we miss that kind of patriotic display.
so the left can mock and criticize all they want, but millions of us are very proud tonight of our president, our military, and our nation
Let's see they are inherently biased and have lied to the American public for about 3 years!. I guess there's no going back now, John, is there?
Kind of like what happened to Newsvine and is what is happening here. It's July 5th, 1:30 PM EST and outside of this seed, just about every seed on the front page is a leftist double down of the false narrative concerning the 4th of July events, which we were told would be a massive demonstration of military might combined with a political speech. No guilt or remorse on the part of liberals, instead they go on.
Because liberals can’t feel guilt for their own error. They only know how to try to impose guilt trips upon those of us who presume to dare to disagree with them.
[DELETED]
There were about a half dozen instances in the narration where the crowd was supposed to cheer, but didnt, because of the poor reading given the lines by Trump. Then he would stop and wait for the crowd to clap. Amateur hour.

Trump followed his speech with an individual honor to each branch of the U.S. military -- Coast Guard, Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines.
Despite the cloudy skies, Trump's speech was punctuated by flyovers by military aircraft ranging from the Air Forces F-22 Raptors and B-2 Stealth Bomber to the Navy's F-18 Super Hornets and Army Apache helicopters.
"Today, just as it did 243 years ago, the future of American Freedom rests on the shoulders of men and women willing to defend it," Trump said. "As long as we stay true to our cause — as long as we remember our great history — and as long as we never stop fighting for a better future—then there will be nothing that America cannot do."
"We will never forget that we are Americans, and the future belongs to us," he said. "We share one home, one heart and we are all made by one almighty God."

It would have been nice if he did something like this on, say, Veterans Day, or Memorial Day instead of a July 4th Birth of a nation
celebration.
I really don't care for mixing any religion with my patriotism either.
nothing could be further from the truth IMHO.
This vehicle looks like a privately owned old Bradley fighting vehicle in "grunge" camouflage, with a deactivated gun mount, missing at least 2 antenae
and some of the missing optical equipment on top is mocked up in cardboard and duct tape,
the whole thing being transported on a non military flat bed of some sort, presumably a POV.
Looks as embarrassing as the Russian news reported.
Sad.
So Jefferson lied in the Declaration of Independence? We weren’t all created equal in the sight of God? He wasn’t the One who gave us all our human rights? Do you reject the very premise of our founding as a nation and our founding document?
Why not pay tribute to our military? Our independence was forged in war and our army, navy, coast guard, and marines were all founded during this war. As for mixing religion with patriotism, just about every patriotic song we have mentions God in at least one of its verses. God Bless America, America the Beautiful, My Country ‘Tis of Thee, The Star Spangled Banner, Im Proud to Be an American. Oh and the Blue Angels display during the Battle Hymn of the Republic must have really offended. Should we dispense with all that. The part about Jesus dying to make men holy while we were dying to make men free....
David Brooks , the moderate Republican New York Times columnist compared trump's approach about the military to the war like ancient Romans.
You can skip over the first 25 seconds or so.
What an establishment never trumper crock of crap 💩. Trump talked of a lot about America and Americans and our accomplishments of all kinds much more than military. And there was nothing wrong with praising our military on Independence Day.
Really, what a pathetic display.
Do you think conservatives care what Brock or any other Establishment Republican thinks or says.
this nation was founded with gun, not pieces of paper
John Adams on future celebrations of the 4th of July
“I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.
You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. -- I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. -- Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.”
Original manuscript: Adams, John. Letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams, 3 July 1776, "Had a Declaration..." . 3 pages. Original manuscript from the Adams Family Papers, Massachusetts Historical Society.
1798: Now president, John Adams reviews a military parade in Philadelphia as the young nation flexes its muscle.
Adams was right and Brooks is not.
The Coast Guard was formed in 1915
The Trump 4th of July festivities were impressive, especially to those who are unable to grasp the meaning of the impress.
All is good. The detention centers are doing well. Something about airfields in The Revolutionary War was enlightening. Ivanka was nearby. And just as well that the cost to the taxpayers for 'the event' is a secret. After all, in Trumpian World the best spent money is someone else's.
It just a formality, they walk right into the country from there.
Something about airfields in The Revolutionary War was enlightening.
About as enlightening as an American President thinking Lincoln "founded" the GOP. The difference is the media covered for Obama's mistake, didn't they?
And just as well that the cost to the taxpayers for 'the event' is a secret.
translation: those who complained about it don't know the cost!
After all, in Trumpian World the best spent money is someone else's.
Suddenly liberals, or should I say Socialists are concerned about spending!
They only care about spending in order to oppose tax cuts and defense spending.
In a very nice wet "tee shirt" ensemble, white with rainbow stripes.
Her dress was a very nice summer dress. It was Mrs. Trump our First Lady wearing a white dress with stripes as pictured above.
Sorry, I could not find it "above".
.
A few years ago, many conservatives and others, here and there on other social media had a melt down because
Obama wore a tan suit.
Then they lost their minds when Michelle Obama went sleeveless.
Now whatever Mrs. Trump reveals is suddenly just dandy with everyone.
Why is that?
Just saying, she has a very nice smile.....
It was in post #6. Your point related to the seeded topic was what????
She revealed her face. How shocking.
Well, #6 is "below", not "above" and does not contain the same picture.
I thought the point(s) were self evident...
How can the picture be off topic in any way?
It might violate FaceBook's new silly policy about modesty and nipples bit I will have to check with the RA and get back to you about that.
Since when did the seed devolve into being about what First Ladies wear? Do you even know what the seeded article is about.
When you made it part of the topic in comment 5.2.1. instead of declaring it off topic.
Come, on. You know the rules. right?
One wishes that you could learn them. Mine was a reply to 5.2. I can’t flag stuff as you well know.
Really. And you didn’t know it was Melania that is the First Lady wearing the dress and not the Presidents daughter Ivanka?
I don't think anyone has seen that very classy and actual First Lady Michelle Obama's nipples on full display before.
Who hasn't seen Melania's nipples or all of her?
So classy Melania!
No, I did not know, too bad, so sad.
Well that just makes it ten times worse doesn't it?
Whoooowhooooooo thanks for "pointing" out my "error" - It's Melania's nipples, not Ivanka's.
Well it was considered art, not at the time, but later, lol.
To bab? What’s that?
The crowd was huge....
No, it wasn't, but it was staged nicely with no pedestrians "out of place" in the green areas
or the "VIP" areas.
Actually it was, your objections to the contrary notwithstanding.
E
Those are picture from the actual event. The left wing media likes photos from about 9 hours prior!
No doubt, pictures of a few dozen thousand people out of a country of 333 million are meaningful /s
Any reason why West Patomac Park in the right side of the photo is empty?
Another excuse as to the time or weather?
Attendance records are the best kept secret in DC this weekend.
Even those who claim to know, won't say.
President Donald Trump hosted a Fourth of July event Thursday called Salute to America. Despite some reports you might have seen on Twitter saying that almost no one attended, the attendance was actually quite significant. The photos you may have seen circulating were misleading, as thousands attended the Salute to America event, according to photos shared by people who were there and a live stream of the event. An estimated attendance isn’t available yet, but we will add it to the story if one is shared. Just how many people attended his event? Learn more and see crowd photos below.
As you can see from the photo below, the attendance was massive during Salute to America. Of course, one question is if any of those in the crowd photo on the National Mall were there for other Fourth of July events happening or fireworks later. That’s tough to determine, but we do know these people were at the National Mall before Trump’s event started.

He's making reference to my prior posted inauguration photos of the current 'president' that was taken about a half hour ahead of time. We all know everyone was already there when the picture was taken - not hours ahead of time. I'm sure the 'president' will be boasting that there were several more thousands there than actually were.
I'm sure those who do tell the truth won't be working long in this swamp.

Did I miss something, or wasn't Trump the only person who spoke at this entire 2 1/2 hour long event ? That's sure what this video seems to show.
Oh, is that another liberal condition? Too bad about the haters on the left!
Trump only spoke for about 40 minutes or so plus the announcement of the various military branches and their flyovers.
You actually watched the whole 2.5 hours?
American Exceptionalism
While I am proud to be an American ( when some politician is not shaming us with their stupidity ), there is nothing more exceptional about us than any other human beings.
Many cultures have had their moment in the sun, we should enjoy ours while it lasts.
As a whole America has been an exceptional nation from our beginning to the present. Our greatest days are still ahead of us.
Exceptional?
We practiced genocide on the Native population, went to war to abolish slavery etc., as I said we are no more or less exceptional as any other culture.
Some recognize that we are human and made some mistakes along the way and that we learned from them and moved on to create an exceptional nation that has been a profound influence for good in the world through out our history to the present while others examine the scabs of those mistakes picking st them non stop and obsess over them making them the totality of who and what we are ignoring or denying all that is positive, blame America first, and feel that the world would be a great place to live if only America as we know her didn’t exist.
I think of the 4th of July as a day when families and friends gather and go to a picnic where they play softball and eat hot dogs and potato salad and gather at nightfall to watch the town fireworks by the lake or at the local high school football stadium.
Trump thinks of it as obliterating other nations.
-
Trump has to make the day about the military and feats of armed strength because he could never in a million years speak about the Enlightenment principles of political philosophy that led up to the Declaration of Independence.
That's a strange interpretation
Trump has to make the day about the military
Damn right! Don't like it - replay Obama's apology tour and hold hands with AOC!
Exactly. Trump did spend a lot of time describing civilian accomplishments through out our history as those of us who took the time to watch his tribute to America know. Our Declaration of Independence was forged in war as was our national beginning. So yes, our military is worth honoring on the 4th of July even if liberals don’t think so.
After we watched the President and the Battle Hymn of the Republic with all the flyovers, our family had a BBQ dinner and then we went to the city park center to see the fireworks after the kids played in the park. We had a beautiful 25 minute show with half the total shot off in the final 3 minutes.
Some may have thought there was another way than the obliterating of the Axis Powers during World War Two or that we should never take credit for doing so leaving the credit with Moscow where some think the real credit lies. Some mourn the fact that peace through strength and trust but verify led to the wrong nation leading the world now.
No one, not to this 'president' dumphuck
Obama was a horrible president and an even worse human being.
No, I'm sorry, I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!
WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I’M FREE....
GOD BLESS THE USA! 6
Amen to that!
