Pelosi out of order, dems change rules
"There is no place anywhere for the president's words, which are not only divisive, but dangerous -- and have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color......Nancy Pelosi

We the People

A strange thing happened in the House of Representatives yesterday. The same House members who could not censor or specifically condemn members for making anti-Semitic remarks, rushed to formally condemn the President of the United States for what democratic leadership considered "racist" remarks. The formal resolution (H Res 489) condemned the President's remarks directed at certain members of congress. The vote was 240-187, with every democrat voting in lock step.

Perhaps it was Pelosi's way of trying to trap Republicans by creating a situation where Republicans would have to vote on a Trump statement. Something like asking Trump nominees about how they feel about Trump statements.

hqdefault.jpg

One big problem:

The problem was the rules of the House forbid it. House rule XVII, clause 1(B), requires remarks on the floor “be confined to the question under debate, avoiding personality."  Georgia rep Doug Collins (R) called her on it:

Collins immediately stood and asked if Pelosi wanted to "rephrase that comment."

"I have cleared my remarks with the parliamentarian before I read them," Pelosi claimed, before walking away to applause.

"Can I ask the words be taken down? I make a point of order that the gentlewoman's words are unparliamentary and be taken down ," Collins said.

The chair, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, (D) Then called for compliance: "The chair will remind all members, please, please, do not make personality-based comments"

Screen-Shot-2019-07-16-at-4.52.27-PM-2-e
The confused Emanuel Cleaver

Collins then repeated his request as House democrats talked with the House P arliamentarian. While that was going on Pelosi let the House floor, which is another rule violation! Then Clever (the Chair) walked off! Rep Steny Hoyer (D) eventually took over the chair, then read a statement: "The words used by the gentlewoman from California contained an accusation of racist behavior on the part of the President, the words should not be used in debate, " he said, affirming the House parliamentarian's decision and technically banning Pelosi from speaking on the House floor for the rest of the day.

Then House democrats quickly voted to change the rules, restoring Pelosi's words and restoring her speaking privileges.

Democrats at work!

“In America, if you hate our Country, you are free to leave. The simple fact of the matter is, the four Congresswomen think that America is wicked in its origins, they think that America is even more wicked now, that we are all racist and evil"....Donald Trump

Remarks to be classified as "racist" or stupid?

Was he attacking their race or their radicalism?

"Go back where you came from"  is a well know racist slogan. Trump's stupidity (not knowing the individuals are all Americans and 3 of the 4 were born in America (AOC is literally as American as Donald Trump-one of her parents is a native born American and one is an immigrant exactly like Donald Trump himself)) tripped him up and gave him away.

Maybe for you John. If one were listening to some of the statements those 4 radicals made, one might be confused as to where they were from. They have little love for America. BTW there are 14 members of congress born outside the US:

" There are 14 congressional members who were born outside the United States, all of whom are Democrats, who became U.S. citizens. Thirteen of the 14 members of Congress born outside of the United States to non-American parents serve in the House of Representatives. Three of them are from Mexico – Salud Carbajal and Raul Ruiz (California) and Jesus Garcia (Illinois), and two are from India – Raja Krishnamoorthi (Illinois) and Pramila Jayapal (Washington). Other congressional members were born in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Taiwan, Poland, Ecuador, Vietnam, and Guatemala."

The thing that bothers me more than Trump making a knee-jerk statement is somebody hiding behind their race after making anti-American & anti-Semitic statements!

A few weeks ago the North Korean dictator criticized Joe Biden (possibly at Trump's request), saying that Biden is "low IQ" (sound familiar?). Trump tweeted out agreement with the NK dictator's attack on Biden ( a former vice president of the United States).

The "traitor" here is Trump.

Trump says the four democratic congresswomen are Un American.

Trump sought and accepted help from an enemy nation to the United States to help him get elected president.

When Putin said the US is not exceptional Trump did not disagree with Putin. He mealy mouthed approval of what Putin said.

Trump publicly agreed with a communist dictator when that dictator attacked a former US vice president.

The kicker is though, that Trump is no more American than these women are. His status as far as immigrant or native is EXACTLY like AOC.  Both had one immigrant parent and one native born parent. What the fuck is his basis or right to tell her "go back where you came from" ?

No John, the "kicker" is, he is MUCH MORE American than those women.  He has a love on THIS country that those women don't, never will, and will never understand.

You have no idea whether or not that is true. You are just mouthing right wing propaganda. It is not unAmerican to criticize America from the left any more so than it is to criticize it from the right.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez wants a better life for the working class people of the United States. There is nothing un American about that. Republicans and conservatives generally oppose workers having unions. I call that un American.

Trump has repeatedly shown ignorance of US laws, or disagreement with US laws. He has called an entire federal district court unAmerican. He's so stupid he didnt even know that Puerto Ricans are Americans.   He's not a true patriot, he's a joke patriot.

As far as the "foreign intervention " goes , I find it ironic that the freedom of the press in the first amendment is mostly to blame , Some outside press agency posts /reports something , and it gets picked up by our own media and press and reported here , and its NOT suppose to affect what people think about what is reported?
As far as im concerned , the US media is complicent, the evidence is in their own coverage and reporting.

The Dems were on the verge of self destruction, all he had to do was sit back shut his mouth ( or thumbs ) and allow it to reach its conclusion. All he seems to have accomplished is to unify them and make his path all the more difficult.

While I believe Trump definitely could have handled his tweet differently...he has shown all of America the nature of the beast that calls themselves the Democratic Party.

The 'squad' now believe that they can whip anyone into complete control....after all, they got Pelosi to use harsh words and lie about it. When caught, changing the rules is the answer. This group of little merry lawmakers would rather complain than create a comprehensive immigration policy that would end any type of cruelty they claim occurs. Blame Trump, blame the org that is tasked with ensuring laws are complied with...sit back and complain some more. If anyone disagrees...yell RACIST...anti-woman of color...whatever suits you.

Manufactured Crisis....oh wait, there really is a crisis! Blame Trump! Blame ICE! Blame CBP!

Yes, Trump could do things differently...but showing the underbelly of the Dems seemed to be more fun.

So, where are the Presidential candidates?
