Hollywood Film Depicts Trump Supporters Being Hunted for Sport by Liberals
"Did anyone see what our ratf**ker-in-chief just did?" one character asks early in the screenplay for The Hunt, a Universal Pictures thriller set to open Sept. 27. Another responds: "At least The Hunt's coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables."

Kathy Griffin claims she can’t get work following her photoshoot with a decapitated and bloody Trump head, but don’t let that fool you. Hollywood clearly still likes the idea of promoting violence against people who aren’t good and obedient leftists, because Universal Pictures is set to release a thriller called The Hunt on September 27, which features left-wing “elites” hunting Trump supporters for sport.

In the past few days we’ve been hearing a lot about how Donald Trump’s rhetoric is apparently to blame for the El Paso shooting, yet Hollywood apparently lacked the foresight to think that a movie promoting violence against “deplorables” might be in bad taste until after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, as only now is Universal rethinking their promotional strategy for the film .

In the aftermath of mass shootings within days of one another that shocked and traumatized the nation, Universal is re-evaluating its strategy for the certain-to-be-controversial satire. The violent, R-rated film from producer Jason Blum's Blumhouse follows a dozen MAGA types who wake up in a clearing and realize they are being stalked for sport by elite liberals.

Over the Aug. 3 weekend, ESPN pulled an ad for the film that it had previously cleared, while AMC ran the spot during the season premiere of its drama The Preacher. It's unclear whether the ads were identical, but the one yanked by ESPN opened with a sound resembling an emergency broadcast signal. A rep for ESPN parent Disney declined to comment on the move, but an ESPN source says no spots for the film will appear on the network in the coming weeks.

According to THR , the movie “features guns blazing along with other ultra-violent killings as the elites pick off their prey.”

You can watch the trailer for The Hunt here:

The original title for the film was Red State Vs. Blue State, so the political themes of the movie are clearly important to the plot. THR says that The Hunt “made some executives at Universal skittish back in May 2018, when film chief Donna Langley acquired the script and fast-tracked it at a modest $18 million budget,” but several studios “did not pursue it because of the explosive premise.” One studio executive reportedly didn’t even bother reading the script because "The idea seemed crazy." The movie was produced by Jason Blum, who also produced other well-known horror flicks like The Purge, Paranormal Activity, and Get Out.

The script for The Hunt features the red-state characters wearing trucker hats and cowboy shirts, with one bragging about owning seven guns because it's his constitutional right. The blue-state characters — some equally adept with firearms — explain that they picked their targets because they expressed anti-choice positions or used the N-word on Twitter. "War is war," says one character after shoving a stiletto heel through the eye of a denim-clad hillbilly.

How exactly did anyone think this was a good idea even before the El Paso and Dayton shootings? In June 2017, a Bernie Sanders supporter and left-wing activist shot at Republican members of Congress who were practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for charity. The shooter had specifically inquired as to whether the team practicing was made of Republicans or Democrats. The same year, Senator Rand Paul was assaulted by his own neighbor and just this past week had part of his lung surgically removed because of injuries sustained in that attack. Apparently, some in Hollywood are more than willing to promote violence against Trump supporters. Meanwhile, Democrats and liberals in the media want us to believe that it's Trump’s rhetoric that needs to be toned down.

Nowhere in the trailer does it mention Trump or his deplorables.  It does say the hunters are super rich big game hunters.  Donnie Jr. comes to mind there.  This is what happens when you have violent video games and trans people.

The elite versus the commoner.

In Hollywood, the underdogs always win.

No surprise here, just faux outrage by a few high strung people easily offended by labels.

Everybody witnessed the fanatical reaction to a dentist hunting a lion.

If people chose to boycott that asshole's practice - oh well, he doesn't have a right to force people to use his services. Trophy hunters are scum. Not to mention it took the asshole over 10 hours to kill the lion after he first wounded it - he's a subhuman. Then he hid the tracking collar. It wasn't his first illegal hunt, either.

Sorry to see you stick up for that scumbag, but that's your right. I don't approve of the death threats, but it's a shame the dentist didn't suffer any repercussions and is happily continuing to trophy hunt.

I can think of many movies and TV shows where the plot involved humans hunting humans which usually involved old rich powerful men abusing poor or oppressed people as hunting prey though I do remember one where beautiful young woman were the unlucky prey animals. The premise certainly is nothing new. This is just another rightwing "Outrage Of The Day". The fact that the actual premise is not what they claim does not matter to righties. Maintaining their perpetual state of false outrage is all that matters to them especially if it fits their political agenda...

The premise for hunger games is very different.  There the state coerces the oppressed to hunt each other as punishment for a past repressed revolt.  That was pure dystopian fare. This one has a group of elite super rich bi coastal urban liberals hunting conservatives as their prey for their entertainment, and is some sort of conspiracy not involving government since they do this story while Trump is still President.  It’s one way of targeting Trump supporters to punish them for inflicting Trump upon them and not letting him become normalized.

So, the liberals are portrayed as the good guys here?

I don't think they are.

I think some are missing the sick joke, and mistakenly (as usual) playing the victims.

Yep, Democrats are the party of the "affluent" white Liberal elite ..... virtually all of Hollywood ..... white entrepreneurs like Bezos and Zuckerberg .... politicians like the Clintons, Feinstein, Warner and Blumenthal and guys like Buffett who earned much of his fortune sucking off the public teat via railroad subsidies and Federal handouts to his many other industries.   Yep, uber rich Dems, one and all.

But the worker drones continue to do what they are told by the rich keepers of the hive.   They are programmed well by their rich bee keepers.

Depends on what their actual views are, as opposed to views attributed to them.  Like this movie, for instance.

Are you privy to the political views of the film's makers?

Do you think that this movie paints liberals as the good guys, or is this seed yet another example of your attempts to paint conservatives as perpetual victims and liberals as perpetual villains?

I guess I’ll have to get a bootleg copy of the movie and find out. Regardless, Hollywood typically paints conservatives and Christians as villains and secular progressives as perpetual heroes.

It beats having movie theaters around the country where people are openly rooting for and cheering for  opposing sides through out the movie.  Now it will likely only be seen in people’s own homes via Netflix or Red Box.

....“It should shock us that some liberals want us dead. That’s the Left in 2020. We’ll deal with it by re-electing Trump. I don’t mean to channel Obama’s ‘don’t boo, vote’ mantra on this but let’s get a grip. We’re American and not China because we can produce and release anything we want. It’s free expression and this film should remind us to do one thing next year: Vote Republican.”.....https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2019/08/11/the-hunt-is-over-universal-pulls-movie-about-rich-liberals-hunting-trump-supporters-after-backlash-n2551478

I am a 2020 Trump supporter in real life.  I live in a part of Ca where I have nothing to fear from progressives in retribution for that support.  I’m a Trump donor too but nowhere near a max donor so I don’t expect to be doxxed for it.  I stay under the threshold for reporting after what happened to prop. 8 donors in this state.

Ya don't say.

And that's true of pretty much anywhere, no matter how much you try to convince us and yourself otherwise.

Really?  And if I went to a Trump rally or a campus reform event in the Bay Area on the way out I’d feel as if I were in the movie the seed is about.  Like I said to someone else on another seed, you’d be a lot more safe here than I would be in a different urban area instate along the coast, each openly expressing what we believe.

You'd be fairly safe there, just as I'm fairly safe in my bright red county.

Most people, right or left, don't go around physically attacking people over their politics.

But some are intent on vilifying the other side.

I agree that most don’t but the some that do are becoming more aggressive about it.  One can let loose on a keyboard at a place like this or Facebook or twitter without resorting to violent physical attacks. There is no excuse for resorting to aggressive physical violence against other people over differences of partisan or ideological political belief.

A neighboring county's Democratic Party office was vandalized a few years ago.  When Walmart stopped selling Confederate flags, impromptu "redneck rallies" consisting of guys amassing in the parking lot who can't tell the difference between "a flag is banned by the liberal government" and "we're just not selling that flag" necessitated police presence.  Instead of immediately and perpetually claiming victim status, I rolled my eyes and went on with my life.

You might try it.
