Beyond the terror in Philadelphia
The suspect linked to Wednesday's hours-long standoff in Philadelphia surrendered to authorities just after midnight Thursday, exiting the residence with his hands in the air and with a police light shining on him, surrounded by a cloud of tear gas.

Yesterday a long time thug by the name of Maurice Hill (a felon bared from owning firearms) shot six police officers and engaged the rest of the Philadelphia Police Department as well as other law enforcement agencies in a long standoff. The entire north Philadelphia neighborhood had been in lockdown mode for hours. Fortunately, all of the six officers survived their wounds and nobody else was hurt. Shortly after midnight the thug, with some intervention from his attorney finally surrendered.

The larger problem:

At least one presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, tried to politicize this travesty as it was going on. “When will it stop?” the Democratic presidential candidate asked CNN’s Wolf Blitzer when he asked for her reaction as sketchy reports were first emerging. That from the woman who only days ago told the nation that Michael Brown was "murdered."

Another thing that got little coverage is this:

"Onlookers were seen taunting and throwing things at Philadelphia  police Wednesday night amid a wild shootout and subsequent standoff that saw  six cops wounded , and video posted online shows one woman shoving a police officer making his way to the scene.

Philadelphia’s KYW-TV reporter Alexandria Hoff described on Twitter Wednesday night how a crowd of people bordering the blocked off active shooter scene allegedly harassed officers.

"I mentioned this at 10 and since I was harassed during that live shot, I’ll mention it here, too," Hoff said on Twitter. "A major moment of disappointment this evening was watching a crowd of people taunt police officers, laughing and yelling at them in the midst of the gunfire."

https://www.foxnews.com/us/crowd-of-onlookers-taunt-police-during-philadelphia-standoff-reports

I had an inkling of this before I read Ms Hoff's report. Last night as I watched the coverage from the sealed of section of Philadelphia, I saw police officers standing by their vehicles during the tense standoff and in their midst I noticed a young black woman walking along eating what appeared to be ice cream out of a cup...Can you imagine that?

This is the sad state of affairs in certain precincts of this country! It's cultural and it coexists with normal American society.

Part & parcel of the hidden truth in Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" :

During an interview with a reporter in the film, he (actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman) explains, “Two worlds exist in this country – the quiet conservative life, and the lives of those two men – the underbelly, the criminally violent."

https://blogs.stlawu.edu/claireandkatie/2017/02/24/in-cold-blood-a-question-of-ethics/

The shooter here is just the tip of the iceberg. Those who hate the cops, hate white America and have no regard for the rule of law are an enormous problem for this nation. We even have a political party pandering to this "underbelly", pouring gas on the fire for political power. It is a serious problem that we are afraid to talk about. The longer the silence, the worse it gets!

One only needs to take a walk through 21st century urban America to experience the "underbelly" of the country.

If we only had some laws barring felons from having weapons, this could have all been avoided.

For the "Slow" folks...….Outlawing anything doesn't keep that "anything" out of the hands of the Dinks of this world !

Did the "Slow Folks" know that "Cocaine" and other "Drugs" are actually "Illegal" ? Gosh, how do folks get them if it's "Illegal". jrSmiley_88_smiley_image.gif

Putting  people in jail who've broken gun laws is racist, say the people who want more gun laws.

Sadly, a good many democratic voters don't really care what their candidates say. It's either a thank you for allowing us into the country vote or a thank you for benefits vote or a form of reprisal vote. Seldom is it a vote for transgender people using the ladies room or infanticide.

Where are all the anti-gun activists moaning about this mass shooting?

Why no faux-poutrage now?

Because the victims were cops?

It seems that they missed the shootings directed at ICE as well!

"A violent, drug-dealing felon with multiple gun convictions and prison stints repeatedly ignored state and federal gun laws? Shocking. Clearly, the only way to respond is to disarm those who haven’t broken any laws at all. That will fix everything."....Sean Davis

I am going to climb out on a limb and say if gun laws could be 'written/legislated' via 'executive action' former President Obama would have done so after Newtown (of this I have no doubt)

Regarding white supremacy and domestic terrorism ..  Supremacy is an ideology, can ideologies be (Constitutionally) illegal in the United States?

I believe there is room for some regulation without violating the 2nd Amendment.

No.  If Ideologues could be outlawed in the US, I'd be leading a movement right now!

I've worked in that neighborhood before , as a consultant for a well known Insurance Company.

It was always interesting, but i never had any problems.

Economically depressed peoples, irregardless of race, act the same damn way. There are few that make it out of these areas. It is depressing, while simultaneously adrenaline pumping, as you must be very alert and aware of your surroundings, and on guard for about anything, as i did many inspections by myself, while others were accompanied by adjusters.

I remember One particular NET (National Event Team) adjuster that met me at a higher scale area of Center City Philadelphia, and after we finished with inspection, he told me i should dress more appropriately, as i was wearing a wife beater shirt(i put X's on the back now adays) to better represent this Insurance Company. I laughed, especially when he then asked me to do another inspection a few blocks from this shooting. I asked if he brought his gun after he gave me the address. He looked at me, and gave a nervous laugh.

Well we did the inspection, and he had me stay with him till he was back safely in his car, and i laughed all the way back to my truck.

Needless to say, he never brought up my attire again, but would call me to assist him on many other inspections in the Philly area.

People in these areas, can tell who doesn't care and or belong, and will treat you as an equal.

If they see , say a suit and tie guy with fear in his eyes, well they will gather and intimidate, as iv'e wittnessed many times.

It's amusing, while a sad reflection of life in our downtrodden areas, and again, Color of your skin is not always a determining factor, as i was a snowflake in a coal mine on many occasions,

yet, i never had too many negative interactions.

This is America today, and has been this way for sometime.

The 'Hood' is an interesting place, and i enjoyed it, but i'm sorta an adrenaline junkie.

I need a BEER, outa here

Krasner said Hill has an extensive criminal history, including charges involving drugs, guns, and robbery. He added that Hill fired more than 100 rounds during the standoff, and credited authorities with "brilliant policing and maybe a little bit of a miracle" for bringing it to a close.

In 2013, Hill was convicted of perjury and was sentenced to seven months of probation. Records obtained by FOX29 also showed dozens of serious charges over the years that were later withdrawn in court.

Charges withdrawn?   I wonder why?

STILL no anti-gun folks hollering for stricter gun laws after this mass shooting?

WTF?

Seems like they are more than willing to accept it when police are the victims.

Wonder why they don't care about cops?

In conclusion:

I think we can draw some conclusions from this incident and a few others from the past week involving ICE officers being targeted and a California cop being shot & killed. There has been a false narrative created when Michael Brown was shot that claims there is systemic racism in police departments and that cops are bent on killing blacks. That is a lie. It is a lie created by Black Live Matters activists, fostered by Barak Obama and embraced by the democratic party, as evidenced by two democratic presidential candidates recently repeating that lie.

Cops are paying the price with their lives!

Furthermore:

"In 2013, Hill was convicted of perjury and was sentenced to seven months of probation. Records obtained by FOX29 also showed dozens of serious charges over the years that were later withdrawn in court."

I suspect we now have liberal state DA's who are dropping and reducing charges because they feel black men are being unfairly incarcerated. That seems to be what is exacerbating the problem. It is going to be hard to counter what liberals & activists have now unleashed but we have to fight for it - way too many lives are at stake!

What does this scumbags' ambush on police officers have to do with ICE officers and systemic racism in police departments?

This scumbag will likely never get out of jail.

There has been an attack on police through the nation. Even the dousing of NYC officers is related.

Understand?

Last night at the watering hole, someone showed me an online advertisement for a planned march this evening, to protest the handling of this by the Philadelphia Police...

It reminded me if the Russian Bots coorrdenating rallies between KKK types and Black Lives Matter types, at the same location
