I hate science, evidently, because I’m woke to the manifest truth about what the leftist elite currently calls “climate change." It is the second most staggering fraud ever perpetrated upon the American people after the media’s promotion of the unstoppable candidacy of Beto (who is a furry). Like some suckers still do, I once believed that “science” was a rigorous process where you tested theories and revised those theories in response to objective evidence. But in today’s shabby practice, “science” is just a package of self-serving lies buttressing the transnational liberal elite’s preferred narrative. Our alleged betters hope that labeling their propaganda “science” will science-shame you into silence about what everyone knows is a scam.

Nah. “Climate change” is a hoax. Come arrest me for felony denial.

Understand that the term “climate change” does not refer to actual meteorological phenomena but, rather, to the sordid rat-king of lies, scams and power grabs that we are commanded to accept as pagan gospel lest we burn to a crisp or drown or suffer...whatever the Armageddon  du jour  is. When you say “climate change is a grift,” and you should as often as possible, you are pointing out that this green-on-the-outside/red-on-the-inside fake frenzy is really just a set of intertwined grifts transparently designed to separate you from your freedom and your property in the name of somehow adjusting the weather.

Observing that “climate change” is steaming garbage served in a dirty ashtray is not disputing that the climate changes. That the climate is not static, and never could be static, is one of the myriad reasons that this whole idea is ridiculous. The planet gets hotter, it gets colder, sometimes quickly, sometimes over eons, and there are a bunch of reasons why, like the sun and volcanos. Human-produced carbon might be one of the factors, but there’s simply no evidence that it is a significant one. Of course, if they really cared about carbon, they would be up in arms about China and India, which are upping their output while we are slashing ours. Yet the object of their ire is your New York strip. Gosh, does that seem consistent with 1) someone truly concerned about atmospheric carbon, or 2) someone who trembles with joy at the notion of bossing around you rubes out in gun/Jesusland?

The underlying premise of their claims seems to be that there is a “right” temperature for the earth; watch them sputter when you enquire about that perfect setting for Earth’s thermostat. Remember, if you ask questions you hate “science.” If they did stop telling you how you hate “science” long enough to respond, they might explain that  of course  there’s no perfect temperature – it’s not like LA, where it’s always 72 degrees.

But then, what are they comparing the present climate to in order to declare that our climate is “getting worse?” If you establish a climate baseline, then you can compare what’s actually happening to the baseline and that might demonstrate that the whole thing is baloney. That would be awkward. It happened after Katrina.  Oh, Katrina’s proof positive that Gaia is really ticked off and…and…and… then we had a bunch of years without much hurricane action at all. You might think that this would be evidence that maybe the climate wasn’t in chaos, and that they would be happy to be proven wrong, but no, it doesn’t work that way. Every time the weather fits the narrative, you see, it’s proof that the climate kooks are right, and every time the weather fails to fit the narrative, well, weather’s not climate. At least until the next heat wave or storm; then weather will totally be climate again.

Heads, you must give us all your freedom and money, and also tails, you must give us all your freedom and money.

Now, we’re being told that we’re all going to die in…I guess we’re down to what? About 11.5 years this go ‘round? Of course, we’ve been told many times that we’re doomed and the deadlines have come and gone with the doomsdayers not missing a beat. They’re like old timey Elmer Gantrys promising the apocalypse over and over again, with their hardcore true believers regularly showing up for the rapture over and over again no matter how many times the Four Horseman fail to turn up.

We haven’t even seen one horseman.

Back in the 70s, I remember we were promised an ice age if we didn’t give liberals our money and freedom. Then in the 80s, we were promised death by ozone hole if we didn’t give liberals our money and freedom, and then doom by acid rain if we didn’t give liberals our money and freedom. By the time they started promising that we were all gonna die from global warming if we didn’t give liberals our money and freedom, I was still wanting my ice age. It would be nice to have a white Christmas in LA.

So, where’s my damn ice age?

Oh right, only a climate denier –  Climate, I deny thee!  – might wonder why we should hand over one, ten, a hundred trillion bucks to people who have  never once been right about their predictions. You evidently hate “science” if you expect the “science” people to be correct at least one time in a half-century.

And they’re not even good at short-term prognostication. Heck, for several days Hurricane Dorian was supposed to slam head on into Florida and then…it didn’t. The Obamas just bought a $15 million pad on the beach – what’s that say about their faith in “science?” But don’t worry, the guys batting .000 so far will definitely get the temperature in 2119 right if we only just write them a huge check and transform ourselves from citizens to serfs.

That’s another big red flag – have you noticed how “science” always tells us that the only possible response to the climate hullabaloo is to give liberals exactly what they always wanted anyway? How lucky are the leftists to have had an existential problem drop in their laps where the only solution is to give them everything they could not otherwise convince us to give them? What a remarkable coincidence!

And what’s also weird is how nothing that we must do  right now no time to debate it’s a crisis think o’ the children  in any way inconveniences or calls for sacrifices from our climate crisis-pushing elite. Boy, they really scored with climate change – if they were going to manufacture a crisis in order to get the power and money they craved, how would they do it any differently?

Now, they might claim that they too will have to sacrifice to the Angry Weather Demon, but it’s unclear how. I suppose they might stop flying across the globe to climate finger-wagging festivals in private jets, but call me jaded for thinking that if it’s such a crisis today and they have not stopped doing it yet, they won’t stop jetting about down the road. Oh, but  you will. You most definitely will stop flying and driving the vehicles you choose and eating cheeseburgers and using straws that don’t disintegrate into gummy sludge in your Dr. Pepper. But them? Pete Buttigieg explained away his zipping around in Gulfstreams as necessary because it is important for him to be pestering people in Des Moines. Bet you that pretty much everything our betters want to do will turn out to be “important.” And I’ll bet that nothing what you peasants want to do will.

One might think that if stopping carbon was important, you might want to explore nuclear power. But you would think wrong. After all, if there’s plenty of electrical power, the elite loses the political power that comes from divvying up a scarce resource. If they control the power, they control you. Cheap, plentiful power makes you freer, which is a bug, not a feature.

Oh, and those many millions of people in Middle America who directly or indirectly rely on fracking and the rest of the fossil fuel industry? Even bloody-eyed, Gaffe-atronic Joe 3000  wants to shaft you . Better learn to code or something, because your good job is history. Weird how all the sacrifice once again falls on those out in the hinterlands and not on the blue coastal city swells, huh? But you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that our moral superiors in Brooklyn and Alexandria and Santa Monica enjoyed showing you sweaty rubes who’s really the boss by impoverishing you. Because that, and not the weather in a century, is and always has been what the “climate change” hoax is really all about.

Gee CH4P once again you're defending an abstract.  Why do you do that?

Not only is changing climate and habitat a reality--------there is a lot of waste plastic everywhere.  In short, we are a trashy species.

"Sweaty rubes."  ? ?  Uh---sure.  The most cogent words in this----------what ever this is supposed to be.

Posting this article is on the verge of trolling. It's based in nothing but bullshit.

You have nothing to provide any proof at all that global warming is a hoax other than talking points and non-sense.

Literally the only people left on the planet that deny global warming are right wing nutters. You have 7 billion people relying on scientific proof that global warming is a reality, and a paltry 50 million nutters screaming that it's BS. It's not everyone else that is wrong, it's YOU. Deal with it.

The funny thing is that if trump said GW was a reality? You would be tripping over your own dick trying to tell everyone that its real.

It's not hysteria or hyperbole. Perhaps you guys should start reading National Geographic, for starters. It's happening now. Our own military has identified it as a clear issue that will pose international threats.

Yes, I worry about it. We are definitely speeding it up. The problem is I don't see much of a solution - we can slow it down, sure, if enough people give a crap, but it's going to happen eventually. And that's the kicker that seems to make so many people just not care. I'm very glad I don't have kids, because I personally don't think the Earth is going to be a very fun place to be in 50 years. But I won't be around then.

There are just too many people, but I hardly suggest a Rainbow Six solution. Even before there were so many humans, we were changing the climate; humans are a very destructive creature because of our brains. Once we sat around the first fire and realized how much better energy could make our lives, Earth was screwed. Ironically, climate change may have contributed to human evolution.

But in today’s shabby practice, “science” is just a package of self-serving lies buttressing the transnational liberal elite’s preferred narrative. Our alleged betters hope that labeling their propaganda “science” will science-shame you into silence about what everyone knows is a scam.

I'm sympathetic to the complaint that some people may be overly emotional - or even self-serving - regarding the true significance of climate change and too extreme about what our reaction should be. I think it's fair to question those things. And plenty of science stories are mistaken or even pure fantasy.

Back in the 70s, I remember we were promised an ice age

Yeah that's true, but mostly that was popular media and not science. To be sure, various scientists throughout the 20th century theorized about global cooling and this kind of came to a head in the 70s. However, the bulk of climate scientists even in the 70s were already talking about global warming, not cooling. Still, I get the skepticism. Nothing wrong with that.

But it's harder to maintain that support when the skepticism is infused with complaints that just demonstrate ignorance. Thus:

Human-produced carbon might be one of the factors, but there’s simply no evidence that it is a significant one.

We can research and debate what the impact of human-produced carbon is on the climate, but it's simply dishonest to say there is "no evidence" that it is significant. There is tons of evidence. You may not agree with the conclusions derived from that evidence. Maybe you think it doesn't support a convincing proof, but you can't honestly say the evidence doesn't exist.

Then in the 80s, we were promised death by ozone hole

Yeah, we figured out why the hole was happening and pretty much every country on Earth outlawed the chemicals that were causing it. Now, the ozone is recovering. It's really a triumphant story.

and then doom by acid rain

Similar story to the ozone. State and federal authorities passed legislation, including modifications to the Clean Air Act that drastically reduced the amounts of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide in the atmosphere, which cause acid rain. It is now not nearly the problem that it was in the 80s.

No one denies that the climate changes from time to time or that the earth warms and cools from time to time.  The issue is that these changes are natural and cyclical and caused by factors such as the sun.  There is plenty of room to discuss the scale or amount of it that man causes.   The fact is that we have made great progress in cleaning our air and water and solving things like ozone and acid rain. But to the socialists wanting control over our personal and economic choices posing as tree huggers, it’s never enough.

What solutions do you offer to mitigate climate change?

I don't have any solutions, other than the obvious ... reduce our greenhouse emissions and all that.  The problem is that will only slow it down. I guess the hope is that if we slow it down enough, we'll have technologies to cope with the changes in the future, or move to other planets. And that's where IMO much of the problem lies. It's intellectually dishonest to pretend we can stop it, and that's how some of the environmentalists are trying to position it. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to slow it down to buy time, though.

I read an article (maybe National Geographic?) where it was posited that we may have delayed the next ice age by 100,00 years ... but either way, Earth will have more ice ages (even if they don't happen until we die off) as well as warming cycles. At some point, all the continents will converge again (wouldn't that be something to see ... all humans living on the same vast continent, with the interior possibly never getting any rain?). Then they'll split apart. Rinse and repeat for billions of years.

And then eventually our sun will turn into a red dwarf and destroy any remaining life on earth.

Geology is fun stuff and nature is indifferent.

Well, science really has observed changes in the environment that can be rationally attributed to human activities, including consumption of fossil fuels.  These are facts that can be tested and, so far, the facts have been difficult to refute.  Humans are affecting the environment on a global scale.

The problem is that predictions are not facts.  Predictions are guesses.  Known facts may allow us to make a better guess but it's still only a guess.

The political hoax of climate change is based upon claiming that guesses are facts.  Past guesses haven't been very good when compared to real facts.  And the political hoaxers are demanding that we totally restructure all aspects of society based on a variety of guesses that often contradict each other.  Climate predictions have not proven to be very factual and attempting to convince people to accept these predictions as facts is a hoax.

When a politician tries to frighten me with wide-eyed, spittle spewing prophesies of Armageddon, I know they are just trying to bullshit me.  The prophecy isn't a fact and I can't believe that a politician is really a messenger from God.  It's just another marketing hoax.

Dorian wasn't the first cat 5 to ever grace this planet. In Fact, there have been 34 of those mega type storms, according to the weather channel , as far as we know.

"We cannot know the future; we can only guess the future."

I Guess....one day in the FUTURE..... We'll STILL be discussing "Climate Change" !

Just "Guessing" though !

Are you saying you possess all knowledge and truth and everyone else is wrong.

I don't have to know everything to tell when someone else is willfully ignorant. I certainly know more about science than several people in here, that's for sure.

I looked at that list. I chose 1993 as a break point; this was around the time that climatologists were overwhelmingly in agreement that AGW was happening. I know, an arbitrary point... But, before 1993 we had 1 category 5 every 3.3 years, after that date, we had 1 every 2 years. Perhaps a coincidence.

And lessor violent storms have caused more damage than uber violent ones !

Hell …. your regular ol' thunderstorm can be devastating at times, depending on where one lives.

I giggle when I hear the weather stations worried about possible 2" of rain happening in other parts of the country. We can get those type rainfalls in an hour or two where I live. I've been in 3" rainfall thunderstorms here, in less than an hour. Poured like a son-of-a-gun. Big Winds and Big rain drops too.

Or, since 1993, we have better abilities to remotely measure wind speed and declare a cat 5 more often.

Perhaps. But, my house in NJ was built in the woods, not near the ocean. There were large 60-90' trees starting about a dozen feet from the house. For about 25 years, no problems; really quite nice. Then in the last 15 years or so, crazy storms. Deck smashed, door smashed, holes poked in my living room ceiling, driveway completely blocked, huge swaths of landscaping totalled, fence taken out... I had 16 very large trees removed just to give me some buffer. The woods behind my house looks like a war zone. Many of the remaining trees are mangled and misshapen. Whole house generators have become very popular, on my street, at least 20% of the homes have them -- none had them 20 years ago. Others have portables. We have tornado warnings -- a wide path destroyed for a mile near my home, fortunately just woods. Monstrous heat, each summer seems to set a new record. Things are definitely different now.

I don't know if you'll take offense at this, but what you are describing about your property, sounds to me like poor woodlands management.

Sounds like good marketing on the part of the generator sales teams.  20+ years ago we had one portable generator for our street and we would move it to each house to catch up refrigerators and heat (if needed).  Now it seems no one can live with the occasional inconvenience of a power outage.

Other people's ignorance doesn't offend me. The trees are being torn apart, and in three cases, ripped out of the ground. These aren't management problems, the local trees simply cannot tolerate the severity of the weather lately.

I know 4 of those with whole house generators. 1) an extremely old couple who can barely walk. 2) A couple in their late 50s where the guy has severe medical problems. 3) My 90 year old mom. It's not just an inconvenience to be without heat in the winter, or A/C in the brutal heat we now experience -- they have these devices because lack of power can be fatal. The 4th is me, I am the only one who falls into your category of it being an inconvenience. However, I have outlets on each end of my house. One is used to supply heat for my 94 year old neighbor, and the other allows a younger (50s) couple to run their sump pump.

You seem to have no empathy at all.

We had a 50 year snow fall where I live this year and we lost a lot of trees here we wouldn’t have otherwise lost.
