The Stars may be aligned for Bloomberg
The Iowa Caucus is only 3 weeks away. The democratic party is still torn between the moderate elements who seek somebody who can beat Donald Trump and the more radical wing which simply wants to vote for those candidates who share their world view. It's an old story for the party. Moderate democrats force themselves to be pragmatic and the extremists simply vote for those whom they fall in love with. The race going into the early primaries is still wide open:
" A new Des Moines Register poll out Friday showed the four leading candidates — Biden, Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg — within the margin of error of each other. And some 6 in 10 likely caucusgoers say they're still open to being persuaded."

It is expected that the extreme candidates like Sanders or Warren could take one or more of the early primaries, with the designated "moderate" Joe Biden counting on his black support to take South Carolina. What if the first 4 primaries are split up that way, with three or 4 candidates dividing up the spoils? That would surely favor the candidacy of Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg could then come in and pick up delegates in the important primaries that follow.
Listening to Bloomberg it occurred to me that he at least appears to be a moderate. It is highly debatable if he really is, however he has certain advantages over Biden in this all important category. The most obvious being that Bloomberg may be the rare democrat who could hold his own on a debate stage with Donald Trump. Biden would be savaged by Trump within 15 minutes. Sanders & Warren would not only have a tough time with Trump but they are too extreme for a general election. Buttigieg, who looks and sounds like an elitist, is another who would have a hard time in a general election. The others are falling by the wayside. Bloomberg also has governing experience. Twelve years as Mayor of the nation's largest city. He has name recognition. He has support from law enforcement as well environmentalists. Finally there is money and Bloomberg has plenty.
I hate to make such a prediction considering the fact that at this time Bloomberg dosen't even have 15% support within the democratic party. I have to believe that democrats will at some point come face to face with reality. Yes, I definitely see this happening, either via a big Super Tuesday performance by Bloomberg or an eventual brokered convention - it will have to be Bloomberg if democrats are to have a chance. It's right in front of our eyes. You can't help but see all the Bloomberg commercials on tv. It seems like it's either him or the Shriners Hospitals for Children commercials (which I end up writing a check for -it's so unfair!).
It's in the air - the democrats are going to figure it out!
It's Bloomberg!
"Ranked by Forbes as the eighth-richest American, Bloomberg has flooded U.S. airwaves and social media feeds with messages that he stands the best chance to beat Trump, spending more on campaign ads since he launched his campaign in November than his main Democratic rivals have over the last year."

Mike Bloomberg has committed a billion dollars to supporting the evental Democratic nominee against Trump no matter if it him or not. That seems fair...
I guess politics does make strange bedfellows. Imagine Bloomberg committing a billion dollars to Sanders should Sanders win the nomination?
His ads are more annoying than insurance ads featuring an Emu
Not possible. I hate those ads. Whoever came up with the idea for that ad campaign should be unemployed.
Both of them make me think the product is undesirable and something I would not want.
Who comes up with these Ads?
I don't think I've seen a Bloomberg ad. I don't watch much TV. So I'll have to take your word for it that they're annoying.
The emu ads are way worse than the ones shot in front of the Statue of Liberty, which went from either mildly amusing or forgettable to really silly and annoying.
Someone who has a very odd sense of humor and no idea of the product. That emu is no Mayham, LOL
I don't find them annoying. I find them informative if you don't know anything about the guy, or what are his ideas.
You need to watch more TV! Why are you wasting your time on something like reading?
The Mayhem commercials are awesome.
My TV-watching routine:
1. Sit in recliner, turn on TV.
2. Dog jumps into my lap.
3. Get warm from dog being on my lap.
4. Fall asleep at the first commercial break, if not before.
Those commercial breaks are a killer. I always drift off during them, if I am a wee bit tired.
Boring too and he is boring. No excitement for his own policies and ideas.
Oh come on...
Sorry, he's just not the guy to come up with catchy phrases. I'll take dull but effective anyday.
I'll take boring any day over the disaster we have right now.
ANY DAY !!
ANY FREAKING DAY !!
Probably just as well since his policies and ideas, based on his past performance, is to rule every aspect of our lives. I'm no fan of politicians of any stripe but at least the Republicans main objective is to LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE.
"...ads featuring an Emu"
They caused me to hate yellow.
I think you are correct. That is certainly my current analysis.
I can't disagree with this. I think Bloomberg has an excellent shot.
Notwithstanding his strong showing in several polls, he has no shot. I'm sure he's a lovely man, and he may do very well in Iowa, but he will be done by the end of Super Tuesday.
He did pick up a million votes by shrugging off the salami killing.
Another meaningless meme to spread propaganda.
He owns 6 houses, of which he shares with his daughter, one jet, a Mooney Bravo, and three cars, 2 Audi R8, a Chevy Suburban. He does not own a helicopter.
He also gave a billion dollars to Johns Hopkins and 500 million to Baruch College last year.
And you get 5 vote ups from people who just eat this crap up as fact. Really sad.
That's tellin him.
Here's a concept. He earned that money by himself. Not like Trump who got is 24 million seed money in the 1960's from his daddy and owns far more than Bloomberg. I can make an accurate meme to go with that, but I won't since I am trying to be respectful to Vic.
President Trump on Monday lashed out at former New York City Mayor and Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg , defending his administration's health care record.
"Mini Mike Bloomberg is spending a lot of money on False Advertising," Trump tweeted.
"I was the person who saved Pre-Existing Conditions in your Healthcare," he continued, adding that he would "always protect your Pre-Existing Conditions, the Dems will not!"

Considering that the Dems were the ones who gave it in the first place, I am not sure how Trump could tweet that other than that is his opinion and therefore meaningless.
My point there was that Trump recognizes Bloomberg as a veiled contender and he has set his sights on him.
It looks like he is still polling down near the bottom.
Last week he was polling way better. And as we learned from the last election, should we really be trusting polling? I think not.
