Democrats botch Iowa tally
It would be an understatement to say that the DNC is off to a rocky start in the nominating process, as a dozen hours after the Iowa Caucus vote there are still no results. People were left struggling to even log in or download the new app the DNC wanted used. Not only was there frustration with trying to use the new system but there was suspicion of the DNC. A few candidates even proclaimed victory without and supporting results to point to:
"Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders each declared triumph — and war on each other — after a technical meltdown prevented the release of results from the Iowa caucuses, plunging the Democratic field into chaos.
The former South Bend mayor was the most aggressive out of the gates, anointing himself "victorious" in a speech to supporters and releasing unverified internal counts that the campaign said showed it was "on our way to winning" the delegate count."
"Tonight, an improbable hope became an undeniable reality," Pete Buttigieg told a crowd in Des Moines. "So we don't know all the results, but we know by the time it's all said and done, Iowa, you have shocked the nation. Because by all indications, we are going on to New Hampshire victorious."
"We recognize that this does not replace the full data from the Iowa Democratic Party, but we believe firmly that our supporters worked too hard for too long to have the results of that work delayed," Jeff Weaver, a Sanders senior adviser, said in a statement.

With the arrival of Tuesday morning we still haven't any results - not a single one. Joe Biden may actually benefit from all the confusion. It is believed that the results were dismal for him. Don't ask me how anyone could know. All the talk of the procedural disaster would most likely cloud a poor performance.
As for last night's disaster, I am sure of two things. Some will come forward to defend the DNC. They will call the facts contained here "gaslighting." The other thing I'm sure of is that rational people will regard it as another example of democrat incompetence and maybe even more chicanery.
I'm predicting 5 more years
Rules of civility apply
I'm predicting total political annihilation
as long as a progressive runs the dnc they will not see the whitehouse.
You predict 5 more years no matter what happens.
The good that will come out of the Iowa snafu is that it will no longer be used to start the primary season.
Other than that, in the long run this mix up is immaterial. Gives the conservatives something to make fun of, thats about it. We have your president to make fun of.
Yep ... there aren't enough Democrats in Silicon Valley who could create/test an app and ensure that it would be reliable. /sarc
Ah yes, all those millions of dollars invested and all they got was a dead stinking fish to crow about, Even your go to CNN is talking about what a flop it is, kind of reminds me of the Obamacare roll out. Biden team is already saying the integrity of the caucusus is in question. I'm guessing sleepy Joe didn't do to well.
In late news - 'Everybody Wins Iowa' - so they all move on in first place.
No wonder team Biden was questioning the results, he came out smelling like a dead fish.
Buttigieg for the win with 62% of the results released, although Sanders is expected to pull ahead.
I'm wondering how many Biden voters switched to Buttigieg. Btw did anyone listen to the rest of the Buttigieg speech? It was kind of inspiring. Too bad it got wasted.
Warren has to be thankful Biden did so poorly. Her terrible performance won't be the lead.
Yes, it was well done. Why do you feel it was wasted?
they obviously did not like the results... LOL
good fun
Stolen from a friend - Q: Why was the superbowl halftime show better than the Dem Iowa Caucus?
A: Because J Lo and Shakira *could* find their butts with both hands.
Turnout was supposedly very low as well.
Not much excitement.
Lack of excitement may well play a part - but seriously, who has time to caucus? Let people go in, vote, and go home. Nobody can claim that the primary process doesn't drag on long enough for them to have done their homework and figured out who they're voting for by now.
"These are also regions that the Democrats want to swing back into their column, as they get set to take on President Trump in the general election in the fall.
These "pivot counties" are significant, according to Rasmussen, because while they represent only a small percentage of the national electorate, they have a disproportionate impact on the final tally.
All across the country, these voters accounted for only 5 percent of the votes that were cast, but they accounted for 51 percent of the net popular vote gains that Donald Trump enjoyed," said Rasmussen.
"I'm going to be watching to see where the Democratic enthusiasm is. If these pivot counties in eastern Iowa show low turnout in this caucus, you're going to say, 'OK, they've made their decision for 2020,'" said Rasmussen, arguing low turnout would indicate that these voters are not swinging back to the Democrats."

This can't be true, I just watched on the news yesterday on how the high voter turnout is a sign that Trump will be elected out of office. House Democrats better get busy creating another scandal.
The next step will be to censure the President.
The 'president' said it was a sloppy train wreck. He must have been looking in the mirror.
What a complete clusterfuck. Now, I won't pretend to really understand the whole Iowa caucus process ... and my state is so late in the primary process that my primary vote is worthless. But this is absolutely ridiculous.
Yep, that pretty much describes it
Of course, it's not the first time ...
Caucuses make no sense to me. And they leave out all the unaffiliated voters (who, in my state, can still vote in the primary), but then, neither party gives a crap about unaffiliated voters, because we don't contribute to their coffers.
Why aren't you screeching that it was rigged when the GOP said that Romney won, and then 16 days later announced it was actually Santorum?
It's always a conspiracy theory with you when it's the other guy, and never when your side does something similar.
A honest, reflective people realize both sides are not immune to such things. Because another once did the same bad thing, doesn't make the current occurrence any better.
Not in the least.
Perhaps because it WAS so close................34 votes out of 28,000 for each was the difference. Santorum - 29,839 Romney - 28,805.
And perhaps this is equally close. You're spouting off conspiracy theories despite knowing absolutely zero. Playing along with Trump's desire to sow doubt in case he loses.
There is no denying the parties are out for their own Establishment candidates.
The Republican Party definitely didn't want Trump as their candidate; and did whatever they could to prevent it as well. They were thwarted by a media seeking a candidate they knew Hillary could beat. The media pushed everything Trump said or did; to the exclusion of every other Republican candidate.
Otherwise we could have had Hillary vs Jeb, Rubio, or whatever other Establishment Republican came rolling out.
I wouldn't be all that surprised that after it is all figured out, that Hillary won and is well on her way to winning the nomination.
Agreed, but then, you're not the one spouting off conspiracy theories about what happened yesterday. From what I've heard, a glitch in an app is a likely culprit, but nobody knows at this time.
Caucuses seem like a terrible idea on both sides. I can't imagine standing around with my neighbors, picking teams, and then arguing to try to get them to switch teams. And honestly - if someone can be swayed by a 2 minute conversation at the last minute, you have to wonder why they didn't bother to do more research first if they planned to participate.
More recently, remember North Carolina? That was voter fraud on your team's part.
Stop with the fucking hypocrisy.
What conspiracy theory would that be? That I am spouting. Perhaps this one is close but the fact remains, the Dem party contracted an "app" that isn't working FFS. We don't know ANYTHING about the numbers yet. You're kiolling me smalls ..............
That's for sure. That's the main reason I'm an independent - I cannot stand either party. Neither actually gives a crap about our country; all they care about is getting and keeping power.
It's not like these issues are new. There has been plenty of time to fix them, if the parties actually cared about them.
Lol ... when i saw they were using an App i immediately thought ..... what could go wrong?
My apologies, I was thinking I was replying to Wally.
I agree with you completely. I am an independent fiscal conservative (I am a lot more socially moderate than Republicans or true conservatives). I will never belong to either party.
The parties have the primary process rigged to favor their Establishment incumbents. They know how to play the game. It will take outside help; and a candidate that can buck the system (like Trump) to overcome it.
If Biden can survive these first few primary states he has a strong chance of winning the nomination. The Establishment will back him so long as he can continue to bring in the campaign donations. Once those dry up so will their support.
I wonder why?
I think we will find that "fixing" has nothing to do with this.
The failure of technology , or inept use of it, led to this.
Fairly soon, the results will be known. They are all written down on paper at each "precinct".
In the meantime the media makes a mountain out of what in the long run is basically a molehill.
Making a major issue out of a snafu is more serious , in my opinion. The media does not know how to keep things in proportion.
Time will tell but i would tend to agree with you on that but this remains a newsworthy "major" screw up. I know you probably won't think so since it has nothing to do with Trump screwing up but there you go.
They should have beta tested this on smaller scale to insure viability. Perhaps they did, but if they clearly did, they did a shitty job of it.
Someone tried to download the app on TV last night
and received a warning that it "wasn't from a trusted source, do you wish to continue"?
that is a fact. the democrats are no longer a trusted source.
Not good .... the app got hacked?
This time the election they interfered with was their own!
Which election did the Democrats interfere with?
Well it's probably not as much interfered as just plain fucked it up. In their need for "progress" in election evaluation, they paid $63K for an app that wasn't tried an true. They are now saying there was a coding error. And that wasn't caught in some dry runs? Probably weren't any after all, it was "provided" by an admitted supporter of progressive "causes" and therefore there couldn't be any malfunctioning.
Nevada might be following Iowa's footsteps ...
From what I read the Director called off the use of the app last week
but people kept trying to use it.
Cluster bomb...
Well I was searching for a CBS interview I seen yesterday but I can't find it. A question was posed at what would happen if the APP failed and the response was it wouldn't happen, that it was thoroughly tested.
I can't find what I originally read either...
It's been implied that they had total faith in the app, so much so that they cut down on phone staffers for the dedicated hotline that no one was answering when some people had issues with the app.
Multiple stories of the phone ringing indefinitely before someone answered, then hung up.
bidens
Steal that one from Limbaugh?
I couldn't stop laughing about this.
The Dems Fucked up their own wet dream "To Impeach" !
NOW …… They can't even get their own "Really cool self serving stuff" right.
AND ALL THE DEMS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT....STILL CLAIM ….. THEY WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a more "STUPID" bunch running for president ?
And the clown car rolls on and on .... a few clowns lighter but still rolling just the same
"Clowns" are waaaaaaaay "Smarter" than this bunch running for the Dem. Nomination !
