Not Guilty!
"Back in June, Speaker Pelosi promised the House would build an ironclad case. Never mind that she was basically promising impeachment months, months before the Ukraine events, but that’s a separate matter. She promised an ironclad case. And in March, Speaker Pelosi said this: 'Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there is something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path because it divides the country,' end quote," McConnell said in a speech on the Senate floor."

Today, (the day after the President's State of the Union Address) the US Senate voted on the Articles of Impeachment.
The votes have been cast:
Article 1 (Abuse of Power):
Roll Call Vote: 52 - 48 Not Guilty
Article 2 (Obstruction of Congress):
Roll Call Vote: 53 - 47 Not Guilty
A question of motive:
Mitt Romney (Liberal Republican)
Mitt Romney was the lone Republican Senator to vote the President "guilty". He claims that his vote was based on a matter of principle. He claims he has rarely been able to sleep past 4:AM over this issue. Who believes that? There is no question that Romney has been a devout adversary of the President. Senator Romney with today's vote had an opportunity to deny the President the desired shutout by Senate Republicans that would have given the President the complete vindication he deserves and he took it. Romney may think he's taking a shot at Trump, but it is moderate Republicans in tough races he may have hurt. Hate is a human failing. Mr Romney had a distinguished career. He brought the state of MA back to a balanced budget and established a health care system that actually worked. It is a sad ending for the man who could have been president.
The self destructive:
Doug Jones (Alabama Senator)
Alabama Sen. Doug Jones, the most endangered Democrat in this November's elections, just voted to convict President Donald Trump. The only reason Jones has the seat he has is because of the tactics of the Washington Post in making the election about the integrity of the people of Alabama. They got away with it and Jones got his one term. After today's vote Jones is as dead as a door nail.
Thus ends the so called "impeachment" trial of Donald Trump
The Judgement of the US Senate is final.
Rules of civility apply
The only thing that is final is the judgement of history. And Trump is fucked in that category.
And you are squarely on the wrong side of it!
history is written by the winners. todays left are losers and will be remembered in the same light as the weathermen from the late 60's - 70's as no better than "domestic terrorists"
the more things change the more they stay the same
Vic , according to Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, you are wrong
=============================================
Mitt Romney is an irrelevant relic.
The entire Republican Party is united behind @ realDonaldTrump and knows he did nothing wrong.
==============================================
Yikes Vic, you said that Trump was wrong in his phone call with Zelensky. Now the Republican party is poised to officially disown you ( Ronna Romney McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, and thus the official head of the Republican Party, also said that Trump did absolutely nothing wrong with Ukraine. )
Let's hope your standing as a devoted Trump follower is not in jeopardy. That wouldn't be fair.
The way I see it, Pelosi's praying has been working and I hope Romney got a pen for his troubled mind. I mean it should be worth a lousy pen, you know.
Well who did not see this coming other than the TDS sufferers?
The left-wing extremist of the Democrat party were/are to stupid with their hate to realize it was destined to fail before it started.
He is guilty, the Senate didn't do their job. If Obama had done the exact same thing you'd be screaming for his head.
He is still impeached and will forever be impeached
So true Lady.
So was Bill Clinton doesn’t really mean anything now does it? It actually gave Trump a boost in his approval rating.
What are you talking about? What's Clinton got to do with this?
And he will forever be acquitted.
Trumps approval rating is the highest it has ever been.
Thanks democrats.
Yet still NOT above 50%.
Does that matter? Less than 50% of American voters elected him.
You know that has been the case for multiple presidential elections in America right Buzz? There have been many times that third party candidates received more than 5 % of the popular vote.
Secondly, 'approval ratings' are NOT votes.
Has there been a Gallup or Pew (most trustworthy) approval rating poll taken now, AFTER he delivered the SOTU? I'd be curious to see that.
No. Maybe they are waiting for people to review the fact checkers websites.
The sitting POTUS almost always gets a bounce in the polls that lasts about two weeks...
Well, I suppose that might temporarily at least peg him at more than 50%, so then you're suggesting that it's more realistic to wait a few weeks for a result.
That's true, but it's still 3 points higher than Obama's was at this time in his Presidency. Trump is 49% approval and Obama's was 46%. The Democrat Media praised Obama his entire time he was in office and they have spent the entire time since Trump was elected condemning him. The media elected Obama. The people throughout this country elected Trump.
Talk about a worthless thing to do considering their ridiculous biases.
I'm quite sure he did, along with most presidents. It is inappropriate, yet I suspect it is fairly common practice.
It is time for that "fairly common practice" to deist. But the sham of an acquittal will just show any future POTUS that they can get away with it.
Starting with Trump?
I thought Bill Clinton already established that.
The Senate did its constitutional duty by trying the "impeachment" case based upon the "evidence" provided by the House. Period. End of story.
If anything, the Left should be pissed off at the House for not calling all of the witnesses it allegedly had.
And re elected.
What a sham of a 'trial'
The sham was what happened in the House of Representatives.
I think the entire universe would agree!
Trump got away with it with the 'Russian hoax' so he figured he could get away with this Ukranian quid pro quo deal.
He thinks he's invincible.
Acquitted for now.
IMPEACHED ALWAYS
And when he gets re elected we will never let you all hear the end of it for four more years!
Same right back at ya!
But rest assured we'd never let you forget it if tRump loses
Although I kind of doubt a lot of tRump supporters will still be be around here if he does lose
An amazing feat when you think about it. Who were the other presidents, in our lifetime, who faced similar adversity?
Only 2 come to mind:
George W Bush was somewhat harassed by progressive politicians & the media. He made concessions.
LBJ was hounded by the anti-war movement and announced he would not seek another term!
Only Trump, who faced all the forces of the deep state, progressive politicians and the left wing media persisted and overcame all of it! What a great story it is!!!
More far right propaganda. It is becoming completely predictable.
Who in the world do you think that impresses?
That sounds like Dear Leader bs.
Says the man now impressed with Mitt Romney. Is that the same Romney with the 'binders full of women,' the man dismissing '47%' of voters? Remember?
Funny how things change!
Lol!
Its funny how when conservatives talk about this they never use the I word. You know , innocent.
They talk about Pelosi, Schiff, Clinton, Obama, Comey, McCabe, the whistleblower, Rachel Maddow, Rosie O'Donnell, Colin Kaepernick, Beyonce, anyone and everyone who ever insulted Trump, but they never make an argument that Trump didnt do what he was accused of.
Romney strongly implied today that he had no choice but to vote guilty.
Why would that be? Because the evidence was overwhelming.
Right now Trump feels invincible, but he will fuck up in 20 more ways between now and the election.
He is going to lose badly.
Because we are honest. We said the call was inappropriate, but clearly not an impeachable offense. You have a problem with that concept.
Romney strongly implied today that he had no choice but to vote guilty.
Why would that be?
Could it have something to do with his long anti Trump stance?
Right now Trump feels invincible
Because the emotional fanatics on the left keep over-reaching and coming out empty handed? Ya, I guess that would fortify his confidence!
but he will fuck up in 20 more ways between now and the election.
I'll be here if you feel up to a friendly wager.
He is going to lose badly.
Believe it or not, most people are not progressives!
Who is this "we"? Most of the "conservatives" I have seen say he did absolutely nothing wrong.
But since you think he did something wrong, what do you think his punishment should be? Only 6 Bic Macs this week instead of 10 ?
I don't know about most. It is the President's position and it is a silly one. One that left democrats the easy task of proving that it was inappropriate. From there they get to magically conflate it with a level of impeachment. I have NEVER used that argument!
But since you think he did something wrong, what do you think his punishment should be?
Punishment for an inappropriate act is usually instantly delivered. Don't you think the whole affair has muddied the President a bit? Hasn't it finally quelled the progressive thirst for hanging an impeachment on this President?
It's just beginning for the Bidens
I can only hope you're right John.
He’s not. Last night is the true picture of our awesome President
Buffoon?
"Its funny how when conservatives talk about this they never use the I word. You know , innocent."
It's funny the left cant talk about the President without resorting to childish levels of name calling.
How did that song go..."Dont be a prick in the roses; no on is impressed with your lack of respect; we're all black sheep and we know it; so don't fuck it up for the rest"
At any rate, the house provided ZERO evidence to support either charge. It was based SOLELY on the fact they lost an election and couldnt handle it. Their plans failed just like every attempt they used to remove him from office.
So, how does it feel knowing he is STILL your President with a good chance of another 4 years?
This was expected. Without witnesses and documents, Ted Bundy would still be killing women all over the place.
Except the House produced witnesses and documents.
"Back in June, Speaker Pelosi promised the House would build an ironclad case."
And they failed miserably.....again.
"She promised an ironclad case. And in March, Speaker Pelosi said this: 'Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there is something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path because it divides the country,'"
She "promised". That should have been the first indication it would fail miserably...again.
So the Senate was just as partisan as the House. Which means what really?
Come on, the Senate bitched about the House being partisan, so the Senate decides to be just as partisan? But of course, it doesn't count against Republicans. It's a sham. The Senate no more held a trial than you are a shoe.
The outcome was exactly what I predicted. Partisan. The Senate was as much or more tribal than the House.
