We the People

Just as it appears that the DNC is stuck with a rotten can of worms and the President continues to draw huge crowds, our beloved intelligence officials have given the House of Representatives a classified briefing announcing that "Russia" is interfering in the 2020 elections! What a bombshell! Such an enormous bombshell that the New York Times and Washington Post were immediately informed. This would mean that the catastrophic loss the democratic party is about to suffer is not legitimate! Nope, if Trump wins, it must be those damn Russians! That has to be it because people are so easily manipulated by Russian bots and/or comments on social media, that they are liable to do anything!. Basically we are all left of center liberals down deep who are influenced by a bit of commentary on Twitter!

For the few who don't know any better or those like my progressive friends - I'M BEING SARCASTIC!

merlin_161537127_c55e2f86-9373-4ec4-9e0d
Joseph Maguire, the acting director of national intelligence, at a House hearing in September.
 Erin Schaff/The New York Times

If you believe the New York times (and I don't) the background story goes like this: 1 The president was angry that Maguire gave the briefing. 2 The President was concerned that Adam Schiff would weaponize the findings. Those are my words, but that is essentially what the Times is trying to spin.

Thus, the reason the President is replacing Maguire with Richard Grenell , the ambassador to Germany - a man who is not a member of the deep state club - a man the intelligence community fears. Bravo Mr President. Long overdue!

I should note that the President was considering naming Representative Doug Collins, Republican of Georgia, as the permanent director. So the idea of replacing Maguire has been in the works for a while. You might not think that if you read the Times story.

Why would Russia want someone to be re-elected, that has been a thorn in their sides since he took office:

"When you actually look at the substance of what this administration has done, not the rhetoric but the substance, this administration has been much tougher on Russia than any in the post-Cold War era," said Daniel Vajdich, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council."

"More than a year into Trump’s presidency, however, none of the fears generated by his early statements on Russia have become a reality. If you strip away his ostensibly chummy personal relationship with Putin, Trump’s Russia policy has been drastically more assertive than that of his predecessor."

And the point the left doesn't understand or willfully tries to ignore is the fact that the Russians, Chinese, Iranians, or any other entity has not actually meddled in our elections. That would amount to changing votes on paper ballots inside envelopes, or inside voting machines. There is no credible evidence that has ever happened, or will in the future. What these can do is try to influence the election. All this is nothing new and the Dems are simply bringing this disinformation scheme up again in an attempt to cast doubt on Trump's overwhelming win in November. They never seem to learn. I have to wonder if they will attempt to impeach Trump again?

They were aided by stupidity in the case of the DNC which one of its "senior" members fell for a phishing scheme. Do try to keep up.

Nothing to see here folks...

You are correct. You can see the voter rolls in many states on your own doing a search. Is there any evidence as to changing ANYTHING on said data bases? I will await your link and backup   [removed and see warning below at 3.1.7]

Facts?

“We got the forensics from the pros that they hired which — again, best practice is always to get access to the machines themselves, but this, my folks tell me, was an appropriate substitute,” Comey said.

DNC spokeswoman Adrienne Watson told PolitiFact that the DNC cooperated with the FBI’s requests, which resulted in the DNC providing a copy of their server.

“An image of a server is the best thing to use in an investigation so that your exploration of the server does not change the evidence (just like you don’t want investigators leaving their own DNA around a physical crime scene) and so that the bad actors cannot make changes to the evidence while you are looking at it,” Watson said. “Any suggestion that they were denied access to what they wanted for their investigation is completely incorrect.”

I guess Putin didn't listen to that stern "Stop it." from Obama when Obama KNEW what was happening and essentially did nothing.

All Putin knew was that Obama wanted him to help on the "Iran Deal" and therefore Putin could even invade the Crimea if he wanted!

The Russians will succeed in sowing division and political chaos, just leave it up to the good old liberal committee. The voters are not as stupid as the liberals are.

So instead of nominating the guy you say he was 'thinking' of nominating, he does something else and puts a staunch ally in the position. One with no experience.

“I like acting. It gives me more flexibility. Do you understand that? I like acting. So we have a few that are acting. We have a great, great Cabinet”

So that is the excuse, he was planning on getting rid of him anyway. I wondered what it would be.

A man the intelligence agency fears...

Please.

More deep state nonsense...

I swear you all will believe everything he says or does no matter what. Even make up excuses.

It’s a temporary measure as he’s in an acting role.  He’s still our ambassador to Germany. He will facilitate the removal of one until the permanent one is appointed and confirmed.

Trump is appointing everyone to temporary positions. He realizes he's going home after next Jan 20 and so is everyone who works for him. .

Sure glad Trump learned that lesson the Republican Senate taught him though...

If the intelligence community wants to showboat then why not give them a showboat director?  Richard Grenell is perfect for the job of DNI since he already holds a State Dept. showboat post.  It seems rather obvious that Joseph Macquire is incompetent and cannot do the job.

So, the intelligence community knows, with certainty, that someone is meddling in the election and can trace the source of that meddling to Russia.  But the intelligence community can't do a damn thing about it?  No, this is a concerted effort to protect the ability of the intelligence agencies to meddle in US politics.  Instead of focusing attention on Russia, the intelligence community is focusing political attention on social platforms.  The recommended solution is to control information disseminated on social media rather than block suspect foreign traffic on the internet.  It's not Facebook that allows this to happen; the problem is open borders and failure to protect national sovereignty.

What is Congress going to do about it?  Sanctions against Russia won't be effective because Russia has not allowed itself to become dependent upon foreign supply chains.  Russia has the clear advantage in resilience.  Expelling diplomats won't be effective because Russia can easily insert agents into the US through open markets and open borders.  The bottom line is that the United States is incapable of keeping Russia out of the country without making drastic changes to policy concerning open borders and dependence on foreign supply chains.  Congress has deliberately opened the United States for attack and the technocratic bureaucracy is either unable or unwilling to defend the United States.

The intelligence briefing to Congress was entirely political.  The intelligence community is pursuing political objectives.  The intelligence agencies are focusing attention on political control of social media, news organizations, and flow of information on the internet. Russia has only served as a useful way to manipulate political government to achieve that political objective.  Russia isn't the only foreign country meddling in the United States.  And that foreign meddling isn't limited to something as unimportant as politics.  Political government (including the political bureaucracy) have really caused the problem by creating a policy environment that prevents the United States from defending itself.  Open borders can't be defended; that's just common sense.

Reminds me of my Elephant Repellant. I know elephants want to get into my house because, well, you know how elephants are. I keep the secret formula in a bottle and spray it about the house occasionally. I know it's working because: no elephants in my house.

So much Russia angst!

The Russians Are At It Again!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're continually "at it." I'm also pretty sure that I don't vote based on anything Russians do and that our system counts my vote exactly as I cast it (unless you live in Iowa or Florida. Good luck to you, in that case).

So, while I disapprove of Russian meddling, I don't worry about it, and I'm sure not going to blame them for the outcome of an election until there is genuine proof of cause and effect.

I'm pretty sure also, that many are wrong as they know not how they've been manipulated.

Just let them continue to 'think' they are/aren't 'critical'.

Based on what? Paranoia or facts?

And what's the difference between being influenced by Sean Hannity, Rachel Maddow, or Yakov Smirnoff? The world is full of speech and influence, wisdom and bullshit. You think we're going to selectively censor just the Russian bullshit? That's a fool's errand.
