Pelosi holds American Workers Hostage
He accused Democrats of pushing unrelated “wish-list items” such as solar energy tax credits and new emission standards for airlines. “This is the moment to debate new regulations that have nothing whatsoever to do with this crisis?” McConnell said.

The cheap democrat stunt we watched being perpetrated on the US Senate has reached fruition. Chuck Schumer defeated the Senate Rescue Bill just in time for House Speaker to return and miraculously unveil her plan. Believe it or not it's called the "Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act.”

The plan's major details have been published courtesy of Yahoo/Bloomberg News:

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled a $2.5 trillion, 1,400-page virus stimulus bill in a bid to shape talks on a rival Senate GOP bill that remained stalled on Monday.

The Pelosi bill has broad implications for the financial sector. It would force lenders to grant a temporary reprieve from mortgage and car payments and credit card bills, and order the Federal Reserve to provide loan servicers with liquidity to give borrowers to stop paying their mortgages for up to 360 days.

Public housing residents would also temporarily not have to pay their rent, and student loan borrowers would also have $10,000 of debt forgiven.

Negative consumer credit reporting would be halted and foreclosures and evictions would be banned.

There are currently no plans for House members to return to Washington to vote on the bill, which appears to be a list of demands Democrats want to see included in the Senate measure. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer have been negotiating behind closed doors all day Monday searching for a compromise.

According to an official summary of the House bill, individuals including the retired and the unemployed would receive $1,500, compared with $1,200 in the Senate bill. The House proposal would also create a $600 per week payment for any worker laid off or for self-employed people who have lost contracts due to the pandemic.

The legislation would also authorize the Federal Reserve to purchase state and local government bonds intended to fight the coronavirus outbreak, would send $60 billion to schools and universities , and would relieve student debt.

The bill would create a national requirement for states to allow early voting and voting by mail in cases of national emergency.
The House measure would fund hospitals’ virus response and would call for the president to use the Defense Production Act to shore up critical supplies. It would also increase funds for schools, food assistance and to help states expand early and absentee voting, according to a statement from Pelosi’s office."

https://news.yahoo.com/senate-set-more-showdown-votes-100000837.html

These are but a few of the demands the House bill will contain. I emphasized in bold the egregious aspects that are part of a political agenda.

Here is the Bill:

https://appropriations.house.gov/sites/democrats.appropriations.house.gov/files/Take%20Responsibility%20for%20Workers%20and%20Families%20Act%20summary.pdf

Tucker Carlson is reporting the 1,400 page bill contains all kinds of radical and race based demands. One needs to read through it carefully. There are as I say 1,400 pages. I will update this article as I read through it.

The Treasury Secretary has earned his pay these past few weeks, but I have a feeling that Pelosi is going to ram this progressive wish list right down the throat of the US Senate.

Except according to the legislation linked in the article, there is NOTHING about 'solar energy tax credits' an the 'new emission standards for airlines' are ONLY for those that take bailout funds.

I emphasized in bold the egregious aspects that are part of a political agenda.

How does ballot harvesting help a family pay rent?
How does regulating airplane emissions help a small business owner keep her doors open?
How does sending $60 Billion to schools & Universities with large endowments and who have saddled our kids with debt help defeat the virus?
How does enabling the type of voting that dems believe helps them alleviate the crisis?

Well if two weeks is going to break the bank, maybe those businesses shouldn't be around.

Australia shuts down the whole country for xmas holiday; recommended 2 weeks, but one week mandatory and doesn't suffer any problems because it's cultural.

Surely most Americans can go on vacation or forced holiday for 2 weeks?

Considering there are many Americans who don't have $400 reserve lying around, how do they afford a forced holiday?  Not everybody gets paid vacation time, not every business can pay it's employees if the doors are closed. The games are deep and many.

McConnell has defended his approach, telling CNN's Dana Bash Thursday, "Republicans are in the majority in the Senate. We wanted to put forward our proposal. We feel like we have an obligation to do that as a majority and the Democrats, of course, need to be given an opportunity to react to it."

Interpretation: He knew the GoP Senate Bill was DOA - he just wants to make Schumer and all look bad to a certain constituency, before compromising by Wednesday as a hero.

Geez on Sunday Chuck was Donald's best new friend.  How long did that last?

Exactly. What about the $$$ for Obamaphones? What about the $35M they appropriated for the JFK Kennedy Center for the Arts and other HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS for unrelated COVID-19 issues?

"For an additional amount for 'Operations and Maintenance,' $35,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2021, for operations and maintenance requirements related to the consequenees of coronavirus: Provided, That notwithstanding the provisions of 20 U.S.C. 76th et seq., funds provided in this Act shall be made available to cover operating expenses required to ensure the continuity of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and its affiliates, including for employee compensation and benefits, grants, contracts, payments for rent or utilities, fees for artists or performers,  information technology and other administrative expenses," the bill reads.

"$35 Mil for the Kennedy Center is essential for battling the Coronavirus, says Nancy Pelosi," the Federalist publisher Ben Domenech reacted.

The next page of the bill indicates that $300 million would be allotted for the National Endowment of the Arts and an additional $300 million for the National Endowment of the Humanities. The bill also provides $100 million for NASA and $278 million for the IRS.

First off I'm opposed to it being in an emergency aid Bill. If democrats can't get legislation to pass on the merits, they shouldn't be attaching such legislation to a Bill we all know has to pass for the nation.

Therefore, although I shouldn't be allowing you another rabbit hole on one of my seeds, I'm going to give you one example of what is wrong with it - from the democratic primaries:

Absolutely! A large percentage of them are too old and keep serving for their own greed and personal party loyalty, and the people of the US can go kick rocks until time to vote, then the politicians suddenly loooove the American people. They lie and cheat and use their position for their own personal gain, while the people in their districts suffer and they could care less.

Just like the promise of the stimulus money that Trump says will be sent immediately to help those who are suffering from job loss and illness that will likely turn out to be nothing more than talk as the two sides in congress refuse to accept responsibility to get the money passed through.

Come voting time again I will not vote for any  long term incumbent, as none of them have shown any true heart to do their job in the best interest of the American people and our country. They use our country as if it is their private checkbook to use and spend as they please while thumbing their nose at the many urgent things that need taken care of across the country, as well as those who deserve better.

I am proud to be an American, but, I am not proud of our congress. They are a cancer in the heart of our country.

This isn't time to "Pull Pork".

In Pelosi's view it is. It's blackmail and if that package is ever accepted we will in fact have given Obama a third term!

That's hilarious Vic. You just admitted the fear of the GOP that the more people that vote, the better the Democrats will do in the election. A brief moment of clarity and cogency.

To the contrary - That is the belief of Nancy Pelosi. As far as my own view is concerned the democratic party has front loaded identity politics to the extent that they have probably lost white middle working class America forever!

So when you said: All of the above aimed at helping the democratic party!, you were speaking for Nancy Pelosi? Ya right Vic.

As far as my own view is concerned the democratic party has front loaded identity politics to the extent that they have probably lost white middle working class America forever!

Well thanks to the House bill, 'white middle working class Americans' will have the exact same access to voting as everyone else Vic.

Ya right Vic.

As they say in Brooklyn.
It is exactly what I'm saying!

Oh, that's so reassuring! I'm sure the clingers & deplorables are excited about having it attached to an emergency aid Bill!

Sec. 140001. Elimination of Postal Service Debt, Additional Borrowing Authority. This
section would eliminate the current debt of the Postal Service. This would reset the Postal
Service’s borrowing authority to the level in current law—$15 billion—by eliminating its current
$11 billion debt to the Department of Treasury. The proposal would require Treasury to lend to
the Postal Service if requested and eliminate the $3 billion annual borrowing limit in current law.
The Postal Service has indicated that this money will likely be required to continue operations
during the crisis through the end of the fiscal year

Sec. 2. Findings. Federal employee unions protect the rights of federal workers, and collective
bargaining is essential to the union process. Congress has declared that “labor organizations and
collective bargaining in the civil service are in the public interest.” Yet, the Administration has
issued Executive Orders that attempt to dismantle federal unions and undermine their collective
bargaining rights.

Sec. 3. Nullification of Executive Orders Related to Federal Employee Collective
Bargaining.
The following Executive Orders and presidential memorandum are rescinded:

(1) Executive Order 13837 (relating to the use of official time);
(2) Executive Order 13836 (relating to federal collective bargaining);
(3) Executive Order 13839 (relating to the Merit Systems Protection Board);
(4) The Presidential Memorandum on the Delegation of Certain Authority under the
Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute, issued to
the Secretary of Defense on January 29, 2020.

The President ought to love that. We will be right back to not being able to fire the lazy slugs at the VA, who neglected our Veterans

Here some more of Pelosi's porkapalooza!

Diversity provisions

The House Democrats' bill requires that any company getting coronavirus-related aid disclose its diversity stats, including its employees' race, gender, pay, corporate board diversity and the structure of its offices that deal with diversity and inclusion.

The reports, which will be made public within a year of the companies accepting federal coronavirus-related assistance, will also include the "number and dollar value invested with minority-and-women owned suppliers ... including professional services (legal and consulting) and asset managers, and deposits and other accounts with minority depository institutions, as compared to all vendor investments."

Post Office bailout

One section of the bill would eliminate $11 billion worth of debt for the U.S. Postal Service -- money that it currently owes to the Treasury Department. It would also require the Treasury to "eliminate the $3 billion annual borrowing limit in current law," according to a summary of the bill released by House Democrats.

Union boosting

In addition to requiring each airline that receives money through the bill to have a union representative on its board, the House Democrats' summary says the bill would nullify a variety of executive orders issued by the Trump administration on collective bargaining.

Environmental provisions

Any airlines that accept assistance from the House Democrats' bill would be forced to "offset their carbon emissions and reduce their overall emissions by 50 percent by 2050." That matches with environmental plans from Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders to have the U.S. reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The House bill would also expand an FAA program that incentivizes airports to purchase environmentally friendly equipment and create a "cash for clunkers" program -- similar to one created by the Obama administration for cars -- but for older airplanes.

Obamaphones

One section of Pelosi's bill allocates $1 billion and calls for federal authorities to immediately expand the "emergency lifeline broadband benefit" for every household that contains at least one "qualifying low-income consumer." That would include any "mass-market retail service by wire or radio that provides the capability to transmit data to and receive data from all or substantially all Internet endpoints, including any capabilities that are incidental to and enable the  operation  of the communications service."

That benefit would include cell phones.

The National Republican Congressional Committee said the House bill is "full of unrelated liberal goodies, including the return of the Obamaphone," a program that the Government Accountability Office found was "rife with fraud" according to a   Washington Times   report at the time.

Newspaper retirement plans

House Democrats' plan, according to its summary, expands a recent law that provides "pension funding relief for a number of community newspaper plan sponsors."

$15 minimum wage for companies accepting assistance

Two different sections in the House Democrats' summary of the bill address minimum wage. One provision would "require corporations that receive any federal assistance" to pay all of its workers at least $15 per hour. In addition to the minimum wage, that same provision includes a ban on golden parachutes, restricted bonuses and compensation for executives, a ban on stock buybacks and a ban on companies changing their collective bargaining agreements.

Release of the Bill's contents had Tucker Carlson reeling!

"Details of the Democratic plan became public on Monday.  Huge parts of the proposal have nothing to do with fighting the pandemic  we are suffering through.  Read it , and you will find disgusting little interest group handouts added by lobbyists.

Worse, the bill is suffused with the cruel bigotry of identity politics. At a time when America so badly, desperately needs to come together, Democrats remain intent on splitting this country into warring tribes. It's shocking." .......Tucker Carlson
