The media push to discredit Hydroxychloroquine
"It's been around for a long time, so we know if things don't go as planned it's not going to kill anybody...It's shown very, very encouraging early results, and we're going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately."..Donald Trump

Hydroxychloroquine is an anti-malaria drug. It's been around for about 6 decades. It is already on the shelf. Based on limited testing in the fight against the China virus it has shown promising results. As a matter of fact last week Tucker Carlson had somebody on his show who said there was a small test of the drug in France involving the China virus. Supposedly 40 out of 40 coronavirus patients who were treated with hydroxychloroquine in the French trial recovered from the disease. A 100% success ratio!

The President is also a believer. He recently said "It's been around for a long time, so we know if things don't go as planned it's not going to kill anybody...It's shown very, very encouraging early results, and we're going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately."

That was enough for the left wing media!  Since then they have been trying to discredit the drug. Most notably, playing up the story of the idiot who died from taking what was essentially Aquarium cleaner which contained elements of the drug.

Here is how the Huffington Post reported on the story:

"The couple, both in their 60s, had not been diagnosed with COVID-19, but the woman said they were worried of contracting the disease and had taken the aquarium product as a preventative measure.

The product they consumed contained the same active ingredient as the two anti-malaria drugs Trump referred to — but unlike the medicine taken by humans, the product they ingested is used to get rid of algae and a parasite that causes a condition known as white spot disease in fish. According to The New York Times , prices for the aquarium product “have spiked during the coronavirus pandemic.”

Here is the devious CNN using the words of Dr Fauci, who once said there was no magic drug out there:

So there you have it. If the President is for it the media is against it, even if it will save American lives.

Their hatred has no limits.

That was a great interview. There have been other physicians, scientists, and recovered patients who've been interviewed on FNC who've said the same thing, but it seems that anti-Trump media doesn't contact them and ask them to share positive facts and data.

Who gives a crap what people claim?  Show me evidence, show me complete replicated test results, before you start injecting shit into people.  Maybe it will, maybe it won't.  That's what testing is all about.

This isn't Star Trek, where Dr. McCoy comes up with a cure in 60 minutes or less.

A thirty second Internet search would have answered your scepticism. Here is the peer-reviewed study ...

You're welcome!

A little over 24 pages, on a personal Google drive account, is considered, BY YOU, to be a professional peer reviewed study???

Previously, you called someone here "retarded", and now you call me "deranged". I certainly hope that you don't say things like that to your parents, spouse, and children.

Perhaps you should research Dr. Didier's credentials and how highly respected he is in microbiology before accusing anyone else you disagree with of being retarded and deranged.

The governor of Nevada actually banned the use of that medication for covid 19 patients in his state.  Thankfully Israel and Teva pharmaceuticals are donating 10 million capsules of that drug to the United States.

[[unnecessary and rude]]

Don't have to because peer reviewed studies are NOT published on personal Google Drive accounts.  You want to provide a link to an official medical publication reviewing his article?  If not, you don't seem to understand the concept of "peer reviewed".

I was wrong and truly apologize. Someone else said "retarded".

Although I'm fluent in several languages, English is my native language; my comments clearly indicate this, so there was no need to try to demean me by assuming something that doesn't exist. By the way, many languages use an eroteme as the end point to an interrogative phrase, clause, or sentence.

You want to provide a link to an official medical publication reviewing his article?

Of course I can, but I won't, because your comments have indicated that you're not interested in the many peer-reviewed articles and papers written by  Dr. Didier and many other internationally-renowned physicians and scientists. If you use DuckDuckGo, you can find them on the Internet ... just as I did.

Will this save lives? Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I'll listen to the medical experts, not our Dear Emperor, media talking heads nor purveyors of partisan puke.

It's all about defeating the President for you?

It's about truth. Why is it all black and white with you Vic?

This illustrates several things.  At face value, a trial in which 24% aren't helped is not considered a success.

The fact that one died out of 26 is a higher death rate than most countries have experienced ( 4% ).

And finally as several doctors have mentioned, including Gupta & Fauci, this trial size is just too small for any reasonable conclusion.

The 76% who completed the trial alive is very close to the 80% figure for people who survived with no drugs

or other drug cocktails,

in other words, not a game changer, just one of 69 drugs deemed worthy of further study.

So your "proof" that some media is trying to discredit the drug, is based on the fact that there was a story run about folks who ate poison to prevent coronavirus, or critiques about the drug.

Okay,,,,talk about a martyrdom complex...

Well I guess in times of trouble, people are still people.............no matter how unethical I guess.....

Some doctors are writing prescriptions for a drug that may help treat coronavirus for their family and friends, one pharmacist said, calling their actions "unethical and selfish." Hydroxychloroquine has not been clinically proven to be safe or successful in treating coronavirus, and yet the increased demand for it is  making it harder for people who need it to control their chronic diseases to get it.

Hydroxychloroquine is a less toxic derivative of chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug. It often treats autoimmune diseases, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and is sold under the brand name, Plaquenil.

Recent data show chloroquine orders spiked 3,000% in March and hydroxychloroquine orders rose 260%. The Food and Drug Administration has not approved these drugs for treatment of the coronavirus, but doctors are allowed to prescribe them.

So the thought process is "screw those who may need it now, I may need it in a few weeks"?

Do no harm in action.  Sad.
