Obama Laments Flynn Dismissal . . . after Granting Clemency to FALN Terrorist
Obama’s old friend, the unrepentant former terrorist Bill Ayers, gleefully tweeted, “Oscar Lopez freed!”

The best defense is a good offense. That was my first thought on learning that former   president Barack Obama has decided to make himself heard   on the dismissal of the prosecution of Michael Flynn. As I’ve been noting for years, notwithstanding his pretensions about never interfering in FBI investigations, Mr.   Obama was smack in the middle   of his administration’s investigation of the Trump campaign. This week, in the exhibits appended to the Justice Department’s Flynn   dismissal motion , it was revealed that   Obama was neck-deep in the investigation of Flynn , concocted into a collusion caper by his intel advisers and the FBI. It is not a spotlight the former president covets, so he’s lashing out . . . and the usual wagons are circling.
My friend Joe Connor,   whose father was killed by FALN , reminds me that in one of his last official acts,   Obama granted clemency to Oscar Lopez Rivera , one of that Marxist terrorist organization’s front-men.   Ben Domenech put it well at the time : Lopez

recruited and trained a small army of terrorists to murder his fellow Americans. He built bomb factories. He taught the young and impressionable how to make devices that would kill and maim. . . . When he was put on trial, he admitted to doing all he had been accused of — he showed no remorse.

After quoting that excerpt from Ben, the Heritage Foundation’s Mike Gonzalez recounts that Lopez was a fugitive for five years at the time of his 1981 arrest, when police found six pounds of dynamite in his Chicago apartment. After he was originally sentenced to 55 years’ imprisonment, another 15 years were tacked on in 1988, when Lopez conspired to escape from a federal penitentiary.

Lopez could have been sprung years earlier, when   President Clinton granted clemency to other FALN terrorists   (in order to help his wife, Hillary, who was planning a run for the Senate in New York and hoping to court the Puerto Rican vote). But Lopez declined Clinton’s offer, which included the condition that the imprisoned militants renounce terrorism as a method of seeking Puerto Rican independence.

So by all means, Mr. President, go ahead and fret about how the “rule of law” is threatened by the dismissal of a politicized case against a decorated combat commander of the United States — a case the Justice Department would not have a prayer of winning if it were tried in court. It’s touching. But some of us will remember that you figured the rule of law would get along just fine despite the get-out-of-jail card you doled out to a righteously convicted anti-American terrorist.

This from Obama, who traded five top tier terrorists for one cowardly deserter! Sure Barry, tell us all about Flynn. Geez, what a joke!

Others who praised Obama's commutation of a known terrorist:

In some quarters, Obama’s decision was greeted with elation. Spontaneous celebrations broke out in San Juan. Luis Gutiérrez, a Democratic congressman from Illinois who represents the West Side Chicago neighborhood in which Lopez grew up, said in a statement that he was “overjoyed and overwhelmed” by Lopez’s release. “Oscar is a friend, a mentor, and family to me,” wrote Gutierrez. According to the   New York Daily News , Melissa Mark-Viverito, the speaker of the New York City Council and a rising Democratic Party star, cried when she heard the news, calling Lopez’s release “incredible” and a “morale boost” for Puerto Rico. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who lobbied hard for Lopez’s commutation, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio both offered Obama their thanks. And Lin Manuel Miranda, who has been a vocal proponent for Lopez, tweeted that he was “sobbing with gratitude.” (He furthermore added that he would reprise his role in “Hamilton” for one night in Chicago in Lopez’s honor.)

And the following:

Obama holds the record for the largest single-day use of the clemency power, granting 330 commutations on January 19, 2017, his last full day in office. [6] [7]   He also issued more commutations than the past 13 presidents combined . [2] [8]

Let's not forget the messes Obama made with Bergdahl and Manning.

Gee, I wonder when all the media toadies and left-leaning liberals will start whining and crying about Obama pardoning someone who was a KNOWN terrorist.

Oh, wait--I know.

Never.

Nothing the Great Messiah Obama could ever do would be criticized by them.

bunch of stinking hypocrites.

Of course.

No way in hell they can spin this enough to make it believable even to themselves.

A manufactured case against Flynn gets correctly dropped, and they have kittens over it.

Obama pardons a KNOWN terrorist, and the left cheers and cheers!

I don't think they ignore them, they aren't quick so it takes them a while to get together and find something to deflect.  It's usually "Trump lied".

Well there are other opinions.

There was never any direct physical evidence of hands on involvement in any of the bombings.

The apartment in question were the dynamite was discovered, was not lived in or rented to anyone.

but his wife was a co-owner of the whole building.

López Rivera was not directly linked to any specific bombings. [2] [3] Many considered him to be the world's longest-held political prisoner , with a number of political and religious groups calling for his release. [4] U.S. President Bill Clinton offered him and 13 other convicted FALN members conditional clemency in 1999; López Rivera rejected the offer on the grounds that not all incarcerated FALN members received pardons. In January 2017, President Barack Obama commuted López Rivera's sentence; he was released in May 2017, having served 36 years in prison, longer than any other member of the FALN.

Guilty or not, the man served 36 years of a questionable sentence.

Obama did the penal system a favor by removing a 74 year old from the system before we had to pay for cancer, COVID19 or stroke therapies for the rest of his life.

Interesting comment. During his presidency, Obama could have also removed Bernie Madoff (now age 82), who has had heart disease, "end stage renal cancer", and alleged kidney cancer for several years. His treatments have cost US taxpayers a small fortune. Maybe Obama picked and chose his "favorites".

Mr Maddoff was 71 years old when he was justifiably convicted of 11 felony counts including securities fraud, investment adviser fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, false statements, perjury, false filings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and theft from an employee benefit plan.

He was sentenced to 150 years with the full knowledge of the court as to his medical issues and age.

In 2014, it was reported that Madoff had suffered a heart attack and was then diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease.

Bernie didn't give a damn about the health or welfare of the investors from whom he stole $80 billion.

It's 2020 and Bernie is still here, still where he deserves to be.

He asked the Trump Administration for leniency recently, apparently the March 4th and March 11th dates passed with no action by the White House.

“There’s no cure for my type of disease. So, you know, I’ve served. I’ve served 11 years already, and, quite frankly, I’ve suffered through it,” Madoff told the newspaper.

But one of Madoff’s victims, Gregg Felsen, had no sympathy for the arch-scammer who decimated his savings.

“He’s terminally ill? I’m terminally broke,” Felsen told the Washington Post. “He ruined a lot of people’s lives and changed them forever. He deserves no leniency whatsoever.”

Madoff last summer was moved into palliative care in the Federal Medical Center prison in Butner, N.C., according to the filing by his lawyer in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

Madoff has refused to undergo dialysis treatment and is confined to a wheelchair , the lawyer, Brandon Sample, wrote.

If a judge sets him free, Madoff, who forfeited all his financial assets when he pleaded guilty, would “financially support himself through Social Security and Medicare benefits,” according to Sample.

“If released, he will live with a friend,” said the filing, which did not identify that person willing to host Madoff.

Sample wrote, “Madoff does not dispute the severity of his crimes nor does he seek to minimize the suffering of his victims. Madoff has expressed remorse for his crimes.”

Comparing Lopez Rivera to Bernie Maddoff is an apples to dorians comparison.

Wear a mask, stay safe.
