AOC v. McEnany: Congresswoman attacks White House spokeswoman as 'mired in racist history'
By: Alex Nitzberg (Just The News)
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Monday criticized White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany for what she considered disrespecting her title as a House member - instead referring to her by her popular nickname "AOC."
Ocasio-Cortez was on the attack within minutes of McEnany naming her among several well known Democrats calling for the defunding of police departments across the country, after George Floyd's death.
"The fact that you have sitting congresswomen wanting to defund the police - notably Rashida Tlaib; notably Biden adviser AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez; former Clinton and Eric Holder spokesperson Brian Fallon wanting to defund our police across this country - it is extraordinary," McEnany at a press briefing, according to a White House transcript.
Ocasio-Cortez took issue with McEnany not referring to her by her official title, though McEnany did the same to at least two other people she listed.
"The press secretary wouldn't be the first person to mistake a women of color for having a lower position or title than she does, but Kayleigh - in case you haven't picked up a newspaper in two years, I'm a Congresswoman," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
The congresswoman further asserted that McEnany's comment is "steeped in a long, hurtful, & horrendous history of stripping women of color of titles and diminishing them to 'the help.'"
"Perhaps she isn't aware that what she did is mired in racist history. If that is the case, I look forward to her apology tomorrow," Ocasio-Cortez wrote.
McEnany shot back on Twitter, highlighting in the transcript where she used the word "congresswomen" during her remarks.
Ocasio-Cortez backed Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic presidential primaries. She is a co-chair of a climate policy-related task force which is one of the "Unity Task Forces," announced by Biden and Sanders. According to NBC News, the congresswoman "will be serving as Sanders' representative on the committee convened by Biden dealing with climate policy, her spokeswoman said."

This is what progressives are noted for - calling people "racists!" It is why I'm so fond of them. Let us clearly distinguish who the "racists" are here. It is not McEnany!
The racist would be the person who defines herself by her race and falsely accuses others of "racism" to silence and ostracize them.
Trump is off topic
I honestly don't know if she is racist or not, but she is definitely an empty headed flake who is a legend but only in her own mind.
Based on what? Do you really know her well enough to make that judgement or is it just because she is Trumps Press Secretary?
C'mon Paula, you are better than that.
LOL
"Ocasio-Cortez took issue with McEnany not referring to her by her official title, though McEnany did the same to at least two other people she listed."
But she loves leaving out " President ", when she twits of PRESIDENT Donald Trump.
""She pointed out the ridiculousness of a conservative criticizing her for being emotional while Donald Trump , an incredibly erratic and unhinged man, has his fingers on the nuclear button.
Trump “sexually assaults women, impulsively allows Kurds to be murdered” and “boosts videos of shooting journalists” tweeted Ocasio-Cortez."
She's nothing more than an Uber Hypocrite.
I get it. Please stay on topic. It's about the community organizer from the Bronx calling people racist.
Someone complaining about "Titles" while not Using "Titles" themselves, wouldn't be part of the topic ?
whats wrong with that?
Time for a new Protest.
Someone didn't use a "Political Title" when they spoke about someone we voted for. They're "Racist" !
Well that is, my friend. We just need to be careful we don't mention a name that could set off a stampede.
I get it now.
But just another Uber Left leaner "Showing True Colors " in print, is soooo much fun to read.
You really don't know? The term "racist" is one of the worst things you could call someone. It requires restraint and judgement in usage. A false accusation like the one lodged by AOC is unforgivable!
Understand?
Let's review.
What was said:
AOC's response:
WTF am I missing? This is why I can't take a damn thing she, and many others, says seriously.
Your not missing anything, "The Bartender" is. I wonder how good a "bartender" she actually was, since she doesn't "Listen" very well.
She's got short pour written all over her .....
Well, considering the source, plenty wrong with it.
AOC doesn't have the attention span to understand a complete sentence.
Oh, you nailed it!
The saddest part of AOC is that what really comes out of her mouth is far more bizarre and entertaining than anything we could possibly dream up!
I hope she grows up to become DNC Chair!
You think Nancy is any better, It's amazing how she inspires the simple minded folks.
She got her weeble on. She wobbled but she couldn't get up
The Democratic Socialist who is concerned about being called by her title.
Classic!
