We the People

In 2009 New York voters elected Cy Vance to the position of District Attorney of Manhattan. He is the son of Cyrus Vance Sr and he campaigned for what he called "community based justice", which we can only assume means that the DA's office and the NYPD would work in harmony with the communities they serve. Voters can be forgiven for voting for him since there was nothing identifying him as a hard left progressive.

Recently there have been concerns about the DA's performance. The City is going through a lot of trauma right now, between riots and an egregious bail law that puts arrested rioters (and criminals) right back out on the street and the recent defunding of the NYPD. Thus, it is quite disturbing to see where the DA's priorities are. NYPD District commanders in the Southern and Northern areas of Manhattan have railed against Vance, for completely ignoring the recent shootings which have increased by 140 percent since this time last year. Instead violent protesters are seldom prosecuted, as the DA's office main focus seems to be on police misconduct.

So what is Cy Vance actually prosecuting?

Answer: He's decided to formally charge the woman who made front page news because she felt threatened by a man in Central Park and called police. You may all recall the incident. It was national news, of course! That would be none other than Amy Cooper, who lost her job, her reputation and her dog in one fell swoop. How many know that she later apologized for placing the call, saying she misunderstood the intentions of the man who confronted her in the park?

Tough luck - she now faces criminal charges!

The Manhattan DA has determined that violent criminals & violent demonstrators are nothing to fear, bad cops are and Amy Cooper must be crucified!

Question for our readers:

In your wildest dreams, could you ever envision this happening in the city of New York?

"In your wildest dreams, could you ever envision this happening in the city of New York?"

Which part? Where an obviously blatantly prejudiced woman gets prosecuted for making a fake 911 call and lying to police? Or where some blatantly prejudiced person tries to minimize and downplay her actions because they don't think being such a lying piece of shit bigot is a big deal?

Sadly, in this case one might say that prejudice might lie in the eye of the beholder
