As They Turn To Burning Bibles, Portland Rioters Show Their True Colors
the violent and chaotic nature of these protestors is not correlated with “protesting against police brutality.” “I don’t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion,”

We the People

The true nature of these people is revealed.  Taking down western culture and Christian values has been these fascists goals all along.  And they burned American flags right along with those Holy Bibles.  These people will take us back to the 1930’s if we let them.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

While rioters previously attacked federal buildings, businesses, and even officers, this weekend, they found a new target: Bibles.

A video posted to Twitter on Saturday shows rioters holding Black Lives Matter signs tossing Bibles into a fire. Bystanders stood and watched as the flames licked away at the pages of the books.

“Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland,” wrote the Twitter user, Ian Cheong, who posted the video.

Later in the Twitter thread, Cheong pointed out that the violent and chaotic nature of these protestors is not correlated with “protesting against police brutality.”

“I don’t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion,” he continued.

Donald Trump Jr. also commented on the video criticizing it as an escalation of Antifa.

“Now we move to the book burning phase. I’m pretty sure ANTIFA doesn’t actually stand for what they say it stands for. Maybe just remove the anti part of [their] name and it’s perfect,” he wrote.

Other Twitter users acknowledged that burning Bibles confirms what many have thought all along about the riots.

“There is a purpose to this. The protesters are signaling they will dismantle and replace our whole entire narrative,” tweeted another user.

The Portland riots have been raging since George Floyd’s death in early May, even before “the ramped-up federal presence.” While many have claimed that these riots are “largely peaceful,” “gunfire, arson, stabbings, and other violence followed rioters” well through Saturday morning.

Radical activists in Portland, Oregon, burned Bibles and the American flag in front of a federal courthouse this weekend.

KOIN News reports that Friday’s protest started out as a peaceful assembly but turned destructive at night with crowd members setting fires on the street in front of the federal courthouse.

Twitter user Ian Miles Cheong shared a video of demonstrators desecrating Bibles and the symbol of American freedom.

Cheong wrote, “Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland.”

“Best use of a Bible,” one protester commented as it is lit on fire.

In a later thread, Cheong wrote, “I don’t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion.”

News reporter Danny Peterson posted a video of protesters burning an Bible along with an American flag while chanting about the police.

Some in Portland have made an effort to rally without violence, but the unyielding activists who are determined to destroy anything that opposes their ideology remain in the area.

According to the Jewish Press, a severed pig’s head wearing a police hat was placed on top of an American flag and set on fire at the city’s Justice Center last Thursday night.

Following “repeated requests” from Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, the federal government agreed to begin withdrawing federal officers from Portland last week.

Brown argued that the officers “acted as an occupying force, refused accountability, and brought violence and strife to our community.”

CBN’s Chuck Holton also witnessed a disturbing incident in Seattle in which a peaceful street preacher was violently threatened by antifa thugs. You can watch that incident and Holton’s reaction in the report below:

Rioters carrying “Black Lives Matter” signs threw Bibles into a fire in front of the federal courthouse in Portland and burned an American flag, leaving bystanders wondering what that act of arson had to do with protesting against police brutality.

“People began starting a fire in the street in front of the federal courthouse which started with burning a Bible, then an American flag, until more and more items were added,” according to KOIN reporter Danny Peterson. “Finally around 1 a.m. (Saturday), yellow-clad members of the group Moms United for Black Lives Matter went over to the fire and put it out with bottles of water and stamped it out.”

“Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland,” Ian Cheong, managing editor of Human Events, wrote in a post with a videothat shows Bibles being tossed into a fire. “Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion.”

I'm half Filipino. One entire side of my family is Roman Catholic, including my beloved mother. Her home is decorated with multiple Christian symbols, including a Russian Orthodox icon which was bequeathed to her.

I was brought up to respect others religious beliefs. I draw the line on acquiescing to allowing any religion to govern my country.

I myself own multiple versions of the bible and have actually READ all but one [I don't much like the 'modern' dumbed-down version]. I have also read an English translation of the Quran. As a bibliophile, I would never dream of burning ANY book.

Same here.   I will argue passionately that the Bible, Qur'an, etc. are demonstrably NOT divine, but I do not want them burned any more than I would want the Iliad & the Odyssey burned.   They are important literary / historical works and are part of our world culture.

So what?  Who cares?

As there are some NT'ers who aren't impervious to facts, recognize objective reality and don't like looking like fools by perpetuating discredited conspiracies, I'll provide some edification.

Contrary to your statement, Project Veritas had nothing to do with the Planned Parenthood videos.  But that's not even  your most egregious error.

When the videos were released, Planned Parenthood quickly paid the infamous crowdstrike to issue a press release claiming the video had been edited. Democrats, and their allies in the media, then quickly and unquestioningly  adopted and pushed  that narrative.  It's their favorite play in their  playbook that we've seen time and time again.  Covington, Michael Brown, the dossier etc.... Push out a lie  and trust their gullible supporters will unquestioningly accept it and their friends in the media will amplify it without bothering to investigate.  CNN and its ilk have an agenda, and reporting reality is not it.

But the story didn't end there.  The videos became a central piece of evidence that Texas used to defund Planned Parenthood.  And guess what happened?  The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals noted Planned Parenthood could not show any deceptive editing and the State proved the authenticity of the videos.  The vaunted "experts" relied on in the media to create the lie became silent when they had to testify under oath.

So, as a matter of law, the videos were not "fake" or "deceptively edited."  This has been pointed out numerous times, but reality plays no part when progressives want to cling to a narrative.

I care because it’s another example of viewpoint discrimination.  They let large crowds gather for one kind of event and let a slogan be painted on city streets and then arrest a small group for drawing on a sidewalk with chalk?  Only an Obama appointed judge could possibly find that in any way to be ok.

I re-read it.   It reads exactly the same.   You agree with me regarding the Bible (of course) and then in your next sentence you toss in the entirely unrelated notion that I did not call you a liar in my comment like what happened earlier in the seed.

That reads as though I had called you a liar in another comment.   Otherwise, to the casual reader, why would you choose to include that in a reply to me?

LOL   Again you completely miss the subtlety.

Tacos! was absolutely NOT making it personal.   What I did was use the same pattern you used — to illustrate by example .   I included a completely unrelated closing comment of:

TiG @ 5.1.8 But thanks for at least not making it personal this time.

There was no reason for me to do that.   It was unrelated to his comment yet it leaves the impression that Tacos! was earlier being personal.   I did the same thing on my comment to you to illustrate by example :

TiG @ 5.1.3 ☞ But other than that your comment was good.   At least you did not try to get others to gang-flag my comment as has been done before .

The part in blue has absolutely nothing to do with my comment but leaves the impression that you have engaged in gang-flagging (and I have no reason to believe you have ever done that).

The examples were an attempt to illustrate to you why I asked you to clarify this little blurb you tacked on to a reply to me:

HA @ 5.1 At least you aren’t calling me a liar or saying I made it all up like what happened earlier in this seed.

This reads as though I had called you a liar earlier in the seed.   See?   Same pattern.

Also note that my reply @ 5.1.1 asked you to clarify.   I did not accuse you of anything, I asked you to be clear.   You refused to do so and demanded an apology; an apology for asking you to be clear.

Just to get the seed back on topic....

Surge Summary: Having created general havoc for weeks now, including vandalism of memorials and attacks on churches, radical, neo-Marxist rioters burned a flag and Bibles this past weekend in Portland. These people destroy what they hate, in this case a symbol of America and the Christian/Jewish holy book.

by Gary Bauer

The ritualistic burning of American flags continued in Portland over the weekend.  I know you understand that a hallmark of the left, whether it’s kneeling professional athletes or neo-Marxists in the streets, is to disrespect and burn the American flag.

Well, now the left is sending a new signal.  Bibles were also thrown onto the bonfires in Portland this weekend.  That shouldn’t surprise anyone.  The left burns what it hates.

We have already reported how they have attacked churches and synagogues, vandalizing them and, in some cases, burning them to the ground.  All of it happened while the major media and virtually the entire leadership of the Democrat Party and the progressive movement are completely silent.

It’s one thing to say that the demonstrators should remain peaceful.  It’s something completely different to ignore the regular attacks on houses of worship and now Bibles.  After all, the social justice warriors are always telling us, “Silence is violence.”

You’ll remember that the left and its media allies were more furious and vitriolic about Donald Trump walking over to a church in Washington, D.C., to defend religious liberty than they were about the fact that left-wing arsonists the night before tried to burn the church down.

When I say “neo-Marxists,” I’m not trying to be provocative.  A lot of what we see in today’s “woke” left is Marxism, plain and simple.  Whenever adherents of Marxism have taken power, it has meant pain and suffering for many people, but particularly for Christians and Jews.

Marxism, believing in no God other than the state, has resulted in tens of millions of deaths in the old Soviet Union, communist China, Cuba, North Korea — wherever it has put down roots.

First it burns Bibles.  Then it burns churches.  And then they burn Christians.

We must defeat the radical left!...

Marxism, believing in no God other than the state ...

Not only is this a ridiculous definition for Marxism, having nothing to do with what Marx wrote, but it portrays the State as the objective.   How can anyone who actually understands what Marx wrote think that the man sought a powerful State?    His objective was for a classless, stateless society.   The State (which exists in the Socialism phase) was to be at best an interim that would atrophy out of existence.   (In theory of course.)

The stubborn, willful lack of understanding on this topic is staggering.

The incorrect use of Marxism, Socialism and Communism interchangeability is depressing since it's used as a pejorative. Even after it's been explained time and time again. It would be so much more effective if they understood what they were talking about and applied even basic logic to it.

Even after it's been explained time and time again. It would be so much more effective if they understood what they were talking about and applied even basic logic to it.

Given it has been explained (for years now) in considerable detail with examples, analogies, logic, fact and history yet the same mindless mantra is all that ever returns, there is no doubt in my mind that this is willful ignorance.   A stubborn refusal to actually learn something that clashes with cultural indoctrination.

To me one of the indicators of an objective mind is the ability to intelligently discuss a topic that one holds in disagreement.   So I think it is perfectly reasonable for someone to understand what Marx was proposing and conclude that his views were unrealistic (or otherwise).   I, for example, can make a rather strong case as to why Marx' viewpoint is unrealistic.   But one needs to actually understand (through research and thinking) a subject to make a sensible criticism.

Contrast that with the slogan-level, mindless repetition of mantras.   There is never any argument of substance, it is always ignorant declarations and confused correlations.  When asked to define 'socialism' for example, most every time there is silence or deflection.   When shown how the word 'socialism' has many contradictory meanings and is thus rendered meaningless unless qualified by a definition, the response is mindless tripe like 'I know it when I see it'.

It is one thing to not be aware of a subject.   We are not omniscient.   But there is no excuse for stubborn, willful ignorance.

Bibles  were also thrown onto the bonfires in Portland this weekend.  That shouldn’t surprise anyone.  The left burns what it hates.

The 'left' hates Bibles?   All those people who you consider 'on the left' (which is probably the majority) hate Bibles?

Do you think I hate Bibles?

See, my position on the Bible is that it is an incredibly influential piece of literature (an historical fiction).   It is mostly very well written, contains many brilliant tidbits of wisdom and offers (in select parts) very good moral teachings.

My problem with the Bible is that it is deemed to be the divine Word of a perfect God.   My problem is that many people believe that (in various degrees) and then act on the directives as if they really are the wishes of the singular most powerful and knowledgeable sentient entity possible.   Yet the Bible is demonstrably errant and thus is imperfect.   It defines a God that is a contradiction and thus does not exist as defined.   It simply is the words of ancient men with pens.

If people viewed the Bible as the perspectives and imaginations of ancient men rather than the divine Word of a perfect God, that would be entirely cool.

But, and this is key, in spite of my disagreement with how people view the Bible, I am entirely against destroying it or attempting to hide it from others.   Not only do I not hate the Bible, I find it to be a critical part of our history.   Just as I am against trying to erase our own domestic historical sins.   We should preserve our history:  good and bad and strive to make a future history that is better based on (ostensibly) a stronger foundation of knowledge, wisdom and perspective.

It looks like a reporter tweeted that a Bible was used to start a fire. The video of the initial event shows a book that may be a Bible, but it looks too thin, and the overall dimensions don’t seem to work for a Bible. There’s no indication that a “stack of Bibles” was ever used. The fire is set by two people, and put out by yellow clad members of the group Moms United for Black Lives Matter.

This possible Bible burning has exploded into a major cultural event on right-wing websites — Leftists are attempting to destroy American culture by burning large numbers of Bibles. That is simply not what happened. Conservatives seem to have their “clutch pearls’ sensitivity permanently set to 11. Conservatives need to calm down. Even if the book was a Bible, it’s one Bible, and two people possibly making a statement.

The Portland riots have been raging since George Floyd’s death in early May, even before “the ramped-up federal presence.” While many have claimed that these riots are “largely peaceful,” “gunfire, arson, stabbings, and other violence followed rioters”

Looks like this is Russian misinformation. It's exaggerated troll farm stuff, meant to make it look like a much bigger deal than it really was.

From the NYT:

The story was a near-perfect fit for a central Trump campaign talking point — that with liberals and Democrats comes godless disorder — and it went viral among Republicans within hours of appearing earlier this month. The New York Post wrote about it , as did The Federalist, saying that the protesters had shown “their true colors. ” Senator Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican, said of the protesters, “This is who they are.” Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, tweeted that antifa had moved to “the book burning phase.”

The truth was far more mundane. A few protesters among the many thousands appear to have burned a single Bible — and possibly a second — for kindling to start a bigger fire. None of the other protesters seemed to notice or care.

Yet in the rush to paint all the protesters as Bible-burning zealots, few of the politicians or commentators who weighed in on the incident took the time to look into the story’s veracity, or to figure out that it had originated with a Kremlin-backed video news agency. And now, days later, the Portland Bible burnings appear to be one of the first viral Russian disinformation hits of the 2020 presidential campaign.

From the Independent:

A viral video of protesters burning a Bible in   Portland   may have been amplified as part of a   Russian   disinformation   campaign.

In the video, a pair of protesters appear to throw a Bible onto a fire. Though other protesters in the area do not seem to react to the event, the video, captured and shared by   Russia Today   owned video outlet Ruptly, became a sensation among right-wing media pundits and politicians as evidence that the protesters are godless book-burners.

The video was pushed by Ruptly several nights and became a leading story on Russian-government owned news site Russia Today.

While it was true that a pair of protesters burned at least one Bible, the story was misconstrued to depict the scene as a mass group of protesters burning a stack of Bibles.

One Twitter user, Ian Michael Cheong - who is Malaysian but portrays himself as a right-wing American political pundit - retweeted the video with the caption "Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland."

The video does not show the location of the fire, does not include more than two protesters, does not show a stack of Bibles, and does not indicate the political ideologies of the people burning the Bible.

The Russians want to sow chaos before the election again. Try not to just blindly accept crap like this, especially when it originates from a Russian state-owned media outlet.

For as long as America's enemies specially craft such ugly harmful divisive propaganda and rank misinformation they will have their willing dupes who gladly spread it on American social media.

Interesting to watch the secular progressives take thee own actions they do do America and then turn sound and accuse Russia of committing their real crimes instead just to make them look bad.  Lol at that nonsense.  Our secular progressive left 5th column is more dangerous to America and her future than any present foreign threat.

So you’re saying that Russian agents burned our flag and then once it was on the ground threw the Bible’s into the flames and filmed it?

Don't be daft. The point is that the misleading, hyperbolic content of the seed you posted originated with Ruptly, which is owned by RT.

Take this claim: "“Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland.”

Did you just believe that without batting an eye? Because, as the article I quoted from the Independent points out: "The video does not show the location of the fire, does not include more than two protesters, does not show a stack of Bibles, and does not indicate the political ideologies of the people burning the Bible."

See how that works? It's like magic. It's the power of suggestion in propaganda aimed at duping people already predisposed to believe it. The purpose is not to report well-evidenced facts with honesty and integrity, but to twist a story in such a way as to mislead and manufacture outrage.

Don't let yourself be played like a fiddle.

The Russians had nothing to do with American secular progressives burning our flag and Bibles in the Portland riots.
