Something you don't see everyday....
Conjunction.
It is more than just a word that joins others together.
In science we have conjunctions also, namely, astronomy.
Monday night was a particularly clear night, I was hoping for just this and I wanted to get a shot of a couple of planets in the sky....
This has been coming for a couple of months, usually the little one rises in the early morning eastern sky and the large one sets in the late evening western sky.
They are planets...
The big one is Jupiter, and the little one is Venus. It was taken with my little DX3600 the night of the 29th about 10:45pm or so right after sundown.
The one below was taken two days later at about 10:05 pm the evening of the 1st. By midnight they will have set.
Two days later they are the closest they will get to each other, about two thirds the width of a full moon.
I was told that this is a common occurrence where Jupiter and Venus get close. but they won't get this close again until 2025.
Here is what it looks like to a professional with a good camera....
Article discussing it....
'Double star' moment for Jupiter and Venus in the night sky.
Just something a little different...
