COMPELLING STORY: Romeo Void REUNITED! ONE NIGHT STAND
Nobody was looking for another singer, I mean you couldn't get another singer, where Debora goes Romeo Void goes.
Debora Kay Iyall (Cowlitz pronunciation: [ˈʌɪalwahawa]; born 29 April 1954), best known simply by her professional name Debora Iyall /ˈaɪ.ɑːl/, a Cowlitz Native American, is an artist and was lead singer for the new wave band Romeo Void. Debora got her surname from her family adopting their ancestor Iyallwahawa's "first" name written at the time as Ayiel.

Romeo Void Bands Reunited This episode of VH1's Bands Reunited chronicles the effort to reunite the group Romeo Void |
This is quite an arresting group story-tragedy, that ends well. Are you familiar with the band, "Romeo Void"? I love their sound since way back!
Romeo Void - A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)
Romeo Void - Never Say Never (Official Video)
See the video story above for the truth behind this video!
I used to love to dance to this song in the clubs. What great memories!

This is a really interesting (feel good) story. Give it a try, y'all!
Good article, thanks for posting it.
I've heard of the group, mainly because of Debra, but I don't follow them.
I'm more of a Skyler Wolf kinda guy.
I was wondering if you may have know of her. I loved this group in the 80's. What I did not know, is their problem with the music business. And that Clive Barker "scouted" the group, but walked out over Debra's weight (appearance). It should not have caused her and this band a bigger career.
I have always loved this sound in my heart (it's classic).
Here is an artist well ahead of his time. Curtis Jonnie, know as Shingoose. One of his songs was ''Natural Tan'' and Indian Time became instant classics in Canada.
This is one of my favorites, ''Mother Nature Song''.
He was a member of our private group on NT and he walked on last month.
What a great song. And a great shame that he has left us so soon.
Really great tune, I did not want it to end. Thank you, for sharing him with us. And he 'attended' a group here too? Nice.
Hi Raven! Any thoughts on Debora and Romeo Void the band? I find their story compelling (see article video). That should not have happened in the Eighty's - but alas, it did. Women, "hefty women" are in a better place now. I rocked with this group back in the day - the real is, I never got to see the faces behind the voice and 'vibe.' (Though it wouldn't have bothered me at all!) I'm a tune 'freak.'
I never knew that her weight was an issue. But let me tell you, being a woman in the 80's was not a liberating experience. Most of the sexual mishaps (and I am being nice), happened in the 80's and never mind the crap we put up with, in the workplace.
It upsets me that it cost her and the 'boys' their chance in the industry. Dedicated to each other, not many if any of them went on to make it big in the entertainment profession (according to their life choices in the article video).
And this is not a one hit wonder band either. The video story (@24:44 above) goes Clive Davis "dissed" the band by leaving before it could begin playing because of Debora's 'look.' This is the same Clive Davis who took "back-alley" Whitney Houston and got her ready for the world of music entertainment. And Debora is still alive. . . .
Remember Murphy BROWN!
I enjoy that raspy voice and 'guitaring.' Of course, the all-black ensemble and long wavy hair is flawless!
Well, who couldn't love Skyler Wolf and the blues?
Great vid, Kavika!
