We studied this back when I was in college, and it is a pretty accurate picture like what we were shown all those years ago. Basically, we were taught that this is what the earth would look like if polar ice melted-- it would raise the sea level about 200'.
As far-fetched as that sounds, remember that when the ice ages were going on, the sea level was down 200'. One of the evidences of that, (of many), are the Norwegian Fjords, which were covered with ice, and carved them out.
Great article, ambi! There would still be fresh groundwater supplies available for drinking water, but, then again, by the time this happens, we would likely have polluted all those so that they aren't usable.
There are island in the South Pacific and Micronesia, that are experiencing this right now ambiv.
