Little Girls Clothes are More Fun Than Little Boys Clothes
HA! Bet that title got you thinking.
I'm a dad, I have 2 boys. Boy's clothes are pretty much the same as my clothes. They wear jeans and t-shirts and sneakers and caps. Maybe some Transformers underwear or something but that's about it. My step daughters were already in their teens when I came into their lives so I never really got involved in their clothing choices. I just learned never to take sides when they were arguing with their mom.
Now I have an (almost) 2 year old granddaughter and I just found out they make the most adorable stuff for little girls! Alicia said she needed some new clothes with long sleeves for winter. I took her shopping and we bought 2 of the cutest outfits you ever saw and some patent leather maryjanes because she needed some new shoes for her new outfits (according to Alicia anyway)
We also looked at hats and barets but she wasn't having any of that.
I will be posting pictures, I WILL be expecting oohhs and aaahhhs.
Wheel,
The best thing about having identical twin daughters was dressing them! I am so glad that you are finding the joy in frilly little things that you get to dress up your little grand daughter in and pictures are a must!
I'll bet it's tough finding Mary Janes in your size.
Hey, I've been smoking pot for over 40 years. I can roll a joint the size of a cigarette with a single wide Job paper. As for the tiara, a staple gun might work better.
I raised two daughters as a single parent. Here's what I learned once they got a certain age: ifwe're in a store andthey askme ifI like something they pulled off the rack, and I say yes, itends up goingright back on the rack. If I like it, then it must be horrible. I learned to refuse to answer that question, and the time I spent inside clothing stores was cut in half. My job was to pay for stuff, that's it.
The key to getting people to look is a catchy title.
I'm raising three daughters now, as a single parent and I agree with you.
I'm going to leave that part to Alicia. It's good to have a plan.
Mine is at that sweet age right now, she thinks grandpa is cool. When we go to the store Alicia will sometimes get another basket and pretend not to be with us because we're cutting up, talking to people and having fun. Her mom says when she get's mad she will get her toy phone and call me:
"Hello. Gampa, come get me!"
I'm thinking about doing laundry. Till I moved in with Alicia and the girls clothes washing was no biggie for the boys and me. One pile for jeans, one pile for socks and underwear, (I always bought the boys white socks so sorting was no problem), one pile for colored, (tshirts mostly), one pile towels and bedclothes. 4 machines at the laundramat, No biggie.
Then I lived in a house with 4 women! I was no longer allowed to even touch the washer. Girls apparently have about 20 or 30 sub groupings of things that need to be Just So. hmmmm.
Man, Hal...you're no fun.
Maybe your girls haven't reached that age yet. I used to like shopping for them, but when it became obvious that their tastes had morphed such that the first step was to make sure dad doesn't like their selection, it stopped being fun. Shoe shoppingwas the WORST - it was an all day affair.
And I love how Badfish accessorizes.
I can't imagine having 2 at once. Laural is a handful all by herself. She's at that stage where she likes to climb up on things.
I know she is darling! I can't wait to see pictures!
You're right-- little girl's clothes are SO MUCH more fun than little boy's clothes! I had fun with Peep, though, when he was little... They had some cute stuff, like baseball shirts, and all kinds of pants. I miss those days!
Funny! I won't let my husband do it either-- everything comes out pink. UGH!
Let me tell you something: At 58 years of age, I still think my Grandpa was cool.
Wait, wait...what do you mean another cross dressing article? Is there a group for that?
Oh sure, they do make cute stuff for little boys, but the stuff for little girls is flat out adorable!
First things first... tiaras are held on w/bobbie pins for those w/hair. everyone else needs to know there are some excellent invisible first aid tapes out there that will not rip your skin. These are important things because nothing is more gauche than dropping your tiara when you curtsy.
Also, the only way to enjoy shopping is to be loooking for something yourself and trying things on. If done carefully and with enthusiasm you will get either laughter or applause. Either is good. In desperate circumstances the best bet for the unschooled is to request lots of instruction. Every girl is happy to explain to ignorant adults the specifics of style options and appropriate attire. Be attentive to detail.
