ESPN's David Pollack: Women don't belong on college playoff committee
"Oh brother (but not sister),here we go.
I knewthe college football selection committee was going to be controversial, but I didn't think it would happen before the panel was actually announced.
News that formerSecretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to named to the committeehas already elicited blowback from certain blowhards at ESPN .
Former Georgia player David Pollack said on Saturday morning's GameDay show he didn't think women belonged on a committee that, starting next year, willchoose the top four teams forthe new playoff.
"I want people on this committee, guys, that can watch tape, yes, that have played football, that are around football, that can tell you different teams, on tape, not on paper."
ESPN host Chris Fowler responded: "So no woman belongs on the committee, then?"
Pollack: "You said that...I'll say it, yeah, yeah."
It is presumed Pollack believesthat women are entitled to vote, just not on football.
Yeah, this panel is going to be a blast."
Omg... You've got to be kidding! Condoleezza??!!
No, I don't think women should be on the committee; I think it should people that have played.
What do you think?
LoL...Yep!
When Bush was in, many things were unethical, imo---as they are in every Admin., but with the current Admin, we experience unethical AND lack of common sense. I feel pushed over the edge, too.
I'm not trying to say politics pushed this sport's issue. I'm just noticing that what started in the Whitehouse, seems to be bleeding over into everything else. ..They just make up their own rules as they go along [and laws] to make everything work for them, and to heck with the rest of the Country. Yes....
I agree, John, she would seem to take the position very seriously. I'm also taking into consideration that she and a couple others that are seen by many as not 'qualified,' perhaps, are in the minority - most of the 12--18 on the panel will have had experience. It's just that, as Mr. Pollack points out---"what does she know about football?" ---leaving a big question mark on many minds.
I don't know. I looked for any statements from her, not just desires, but reasons why she (or others) feels she is qualified. I couldn't find any. An AP report stated she would be the only one with no ties to *college* football.
