The Sounds of Autumn -- Marching Band Season
This is the 4th try to publish this article, and I'm tired. Every time I hit the publish button, it disappears, at least I hope it disappears, because otherwise, I'll be deleting articles out the wazoo.
At any rate, my son's marching band has participated in one pre-season judging show, four preliminary shows, (to see where they stand in competitions), and four contests, wining Grand Champions at all 9 events. They've marched in 5 football games, and have worked, through the heat of summer, every weekend, and nearly every Friday night since the second week of July. Throughout the summer, they worked 8-12 hour days, Monday through Saturday, to get this show down pat.
When you watch the video below, please remember that about 25% of these kids had never marched before this summer. So, what you see is, to me, amazing!
The show's name is "Uprising"!
Thanks for coming by!

This is best if viewed on full screen-- of course! You can pick out my personal dot, our son, at the part of the show where some of the kids go back to the crosses, grieve for lost comrades, and honor the fallen. He is second from the right. He also shows up in the front a couple of times, too! Otherwise, he's just another dot... But, to me, a dot that glows!
Of course, I'm that dot's mother, so it is no surprise that when they play the 1812 Overture, I get all teary-eyed and goose bumpy. He is the 6th generation in my family to play in a band/orchestra! Probably all of us have played the 1812 Overture at one time or another... Grandpa marched in the Hawesville Band in 1912. My mother marched at Owensboro Senior High School in 1948, and I marched in the same band in 1973. Now, my boy Peep, is marching, too!
Thanks so much!
BRAVO!!!!!
Having spent 4 years in my HS marching band I know full well how much work that took. Hats off!
Thank you so much! I will be sure to tell Peep!
I'm on the uniform committee, and my husband works pit crew! It's a fun activity for all of us! (And a lot of work!!!)
Thanks so very much, dear sister! I will be sure to tell Peep your message, and give him that lovely hug!
Our color guard is great-- and I'm really proud of them. They work so hard, and I'd be terrified of throwing a rifle in the air!
Much love to you!
They are terrific Dowser and your peep is just adorable in his uniform. You and your son should be very proud. That band was terrific!
Perrie, thanks so much! He's growing up!
I haven't had wifi since last night, so could not get here until today, believe it or not, at Mama's house!!! Her wifi is working fine, now ours at home needs a house call...
Thanks so much-- they've worked so very hard!
