My Life As A Dog - Wiki The Warrior Wonder Wiener

6730_discussions.jpg?width=750 Hi, my name is Wiki and I'm a Mini Doxie and very cute at that. My formal name is Wikiup Warrior Wonder Wiener, I'm a muscular thirteen pounds and stand six inches at the shoulder with big brown eyes, flowing ears and a tail that never stops wagging. My nose is perfect, no plastic surgery for me. Wiki my name, playing is my game.

I just turned five years old on August 15th, that's human years not dog years.

I guess I better tell you how I found my human. It was in a desert parking lot in Wikiup AZ. I had been dropped off there as a puppy, I was around twelve to fifteen weeks old. There isn't much in Wikiup and the parking lot next to the gas station is in the desert and there were a lot of coyotes around and they wanted to hurt me, but I'm a Warrior Wiener and I fought them off for a couple of days, but I didn't have any food or water and it was so hot that the pavement burned my feet. I was scared, but I didn't cry. Then I saw this big green truck pulling a trailer pull into the parking lot. A lady got out and went into the gas station but the man stayed by the truck, he looked like he was fixing something but I don't know for sure. I wanted to go over to him to see if he would help me but I wasn't sure, maybe he would hurt me, or just dump me like that other human did. I really need some water, I was so thirsty and hungry that I would take the chance. I knew that I wouldn't last another night with the coyotes, I had some bites on me from them, but I fought them off. I was very skinny and there was blood on my coat. Maybe I would scare this human and he would leave and not help me. Others had done that and I was hurting so bad.

Just them the lady came out of the gas station with a cup in her hand and gave it to the other human. He took it and got back into the big truck, I knew that I had to come out of my hiding place and make him see me. It was so hard to walk, my feet were burned from the hot pavement and it was hard to walk, but I had to give it a try, after all I'm a Warrior Wonder Wiener.

The human started the truck and it was very noisy, I tried running over to the truck but my feet would not let me. I was afraid that he was going to leave without seeing me, but I made it over to the truck before he pulled away, but I fell down next to the truck, I couldn't walk anymore and I was so tired.

Just as I thought he was going to leave me he looked out the side window of the big truck and let out a yell. Oh, he had seen me, but was he going to help me or leave me to the coyotes. If he left it was over for me, there was some fight left in me, but I could barely stand up.

Then he opened the door of the truck and jumped out and ran over to me. I hope that he knows that I'm alive. I couldn't bark or wag my tail, I was so tired. Then he bent down and called to the lady who was already on her way over to me. I heard them talking, what were they going to do, I had to make them like me. I tried to hold up my head but I just couldn't do it.

The lady ran back to the truck and I thought that they were going to leave me but she came running back with things in her hands, the other human was petting me and talking to me but I didn't understand what he was saying. Soon he was picking me up and the lady wrapped a blanket around me and they started back to the truck. I hoped so much that they would take me with them, I tried to lick his hand but just couldn't do it, my eyes would not stay open.

Soon I felt water being rubbed on my tongue, then the lady held my head up so I could lick some water out of her hand. The humans were talking to each other and I was trying to stay awake but just couldn't.

I don't know how long it was but when I woke up they were carrying me into a building, I was scared that they were going to leave me there. Soon another lady came out and took me into a room and put me on a table, I tried to get off but couldn't. The bite marks were really starting to hurt and my feet were so sore.

All the humans were talking to each other and soon the two humans that took me from the parking lot left, but not after they petted me and talked to me. I wish that I could understand what they were saying, but they looked very sad.

Later I woke up and there was a needle in my leg and a tube in my mouth. I didn't know what they were doing to me and I got even more scared. My feet had something greasy on them and didn't hurt so much and the bite marks were stinging but felt a little better.

The humans had left me, I was on my own again. Then I looked over and there was the blanket that the humans had wrapped me in when they found me in the parking lot.

Soon other humans would come in and look at me, check the tubes then leave. I think that they were trying to help me.

The next time that I woke up there were my humans. They were looking at me and talking to each other and then to me, I didn't know what they were saying but I thought that it was good things. They sat with me for a long time, then the other human came in and they talked for awhile, then the human left.

I was with the two humans that picked me up in the parking lot. I tried to be very good and lick their hand but couldn't reach them, then the guy human reached over and petted my ear, I love that. They I looked at the lady and there was water on her face. I got scared, maybe she was afraid of me. I wanted to thank her for being nice to me but couldn't.

Every day they humans in the building would feed me, give me water and would keep checking my bite marks and feet. And every day the two humans would come visit, pet me and talk to me but then they would leave.

I would whimper every night, I was scared and alone, but then humans would come in and check on me. That felt good and I would fall asleep.

I don't know how many days it was but I was gaining weight and was never thirsty and got to get out of my kennel and a human would walk me around the room.

I was feeling better but I was lonely and the next place might not be so nice. Then the two humans came in and saw me, they had big smiles and were talking to me. The man human picked me up and hugged me and then the lady human did the same. It made me feel so good.

Then they took me out of the building and there it was the big truck and they put me in it. The truck was like my friend, it had taken me from the awful parking lot. They put me in the truck!! I was so excited that I think that I pee'd on the seat.

We drove for a little bit and I was hoping that they were not taking me to a bad place. The truck stopped in front of a human house and they got out. Now I was really scared but they picked me up and took me into the human house.

There was a food dish, water dish and a bed with my blanket in it..I was so happy that I started barking, it's been a long time since I was able to bark, but there it was, I was barking and running around in circles my tail wagging as fast as it could go. My humans were smiling and laughing.

Then the human said to me..''Hey little Warrior, your in your forever home'' and I understood every word that he said. I could understand human, maybe they understand Doxie..

My heart was full. I was in my forever home.

Five years later:

I have a wonderful life, there's always food and water, plus treats. I have my own bed, in fact I have four of them. I get to go for walks and have other human and dog friends. My guy human takes me fishing with him. He always lets the fish go that he catches and I like that. My lady human puts a coat on me when it rains, I put up with it.

One of my best times is when my guy human takes me for a ride in the big green truck, that truck is my friend.

I had a real bad injury and I was thinking if my humans would put me down. I got scared but my humans took me to a hospital where I was for two weeks. I'm back home again and doing much better. For awhile my back legs wouldn't work, I could not stand up and keep falling over. Now I can stand up, walk and run. Not like before but really good. My humans were all that is good about humans they never left me, not like the human that dropped me off in the parking lot.

Oh yeah, I understand everything that my human's say and they understand me. I would never leave them and will always do my best to protect them, they protected me.

Sometime I think that they are as human as us dogs. They sure do try to be.

There is another chapter, we had another stray come to live with us. Her name is Annie, maybe she'll tell you her story.

How horrible that someone would do that to such a little guy. People can be so cruel. He was lucky to find you and the other human. I am glad that he had a strong spirit and made it through... it seems in just the nick of time.

Love winner dogs. I have a real soft spot for them. They are just too cute and so is Wiki!

How wonderful! What kind humans Wiki has. This made me cry.

I have a Jackweeniehauhua. So any pup that starts with a super long nose and ends with a super long tail has a special place in my heart, well, along with every other dog, too. She is a rescue and was thrown out on a nature trail when she was less than 6 weeks old.

A Jackweeniehauhua..LOL, I love it. Happy that you enjoyed the story JbBirder. And a big thanks to you for saving your little Jackweeniehauhua.

He/she can't be anything but darn cute with that combo.

Heart warming story Kavika. Maybe someone traveling didn't mean to leave him. That does happen. You know how rambunctious those little Dachshunds can be. My cousin had one years ago and his name was "Mischief" very appropriately named. I can't see how someone would leave such a wonderful little dog like that.

I remember when I was young, we had a cat we called "Friskie". She was just one of many if you know how cats use to be in the country. If you had a female, you usually had a bunch of them. My daddy carried Friskie 20 miles to my grand parents farther out into the country for them to keep the snakes at bay. A couple of weeks later Friskie showed up for supper. What a surprise! No one brought her back. She didn't want to move.

One can hope that they didn't mean to leave her, but so many people saw her struggling in that red hot parking lot, the temp had been running between 100 and 105 for the week, yet no one tried to save her or even give her water.

Good story about Friskie, ''she didn't want to move''...LOL, when they make up their minds, that's it.

Thanks for stopping by.

She's a real Warrior Neale. With everything that she's gone through, she still loves everybody and tries to be a little protector.

I posted a story on our other stray that we recused. ''My life as a throw away dog - lost and alone''.
