My little Yoda Kitty
Hi all,
I would like to share with you my sweet kitty, Yoda.
Yoda was a stray we found here on our ranch, stuck hanging for dear life from a canvas tarp on the back of an old pickup truck and screaming her little lungs out.She was barely 6 weeks old, and it appeared that her mother had abandoned her, not knowing how to get help her get unstuck from the canvas. We were working in the yard next to the field where the truck was and heard her cries. We thought at first she was just crying as she was lost, but at the sound of our voices the cries got louder and more desperate. We finally walked around to see what was going on and found her hanging helpless from the tarp, and not sure how long she had been there like that.
The mother was nowhere in sight, so I carefully helped her get her little claws stuck in the tarp. She was scared to death andcrying her little lungs out and I held her close to me and took her in the house, with her crying loudly the entire time. She as covered with mud and some wet leaves and needed at bath. I slowly gave her a nice warm bath that she really didn't appreciate, but, didn't fight, and continued crying loudly the whole time.
As soon as she was dry I gave her some milk and and she was still crying loudlyin between gulps. She was obviously starving. I didn't have any cat food for her, so I had my granddaughter run to the store and by some for her. As soon as I putthe food in a bowl for her she started purring, and it was really loud and sputtering, and she was crying loudly between bites as well. The poor baby ate until she could hardly move, and then she just sat and looked up at me as if seeing me for the first time.
She got the name Yoda because she had the habit of laying her little ears flat out to the sides when looking atyou, and whensleeping. She looked like some of the pictures of Yoda in Star Wars so that iswhat I named her. She was just adorable.
She had a bad cold, with a stuffy nose, sneezing and matty eyes, so the next day I took her to the Vet and got her nose and eye drops, vitamins, and antibiotics. The Vet informed me at the time that my little furry baby was an EgyptianMau.
I had never heard of that type of cat before so I looked it up on the Internet when I got home, and he was spot on.For the next few daysYodamostly slept, only rousing to eat and go to the litter box. Asshe slowly began to feel better she wanted toplay, and began tocautiously explore her surroundings. The nose drops had helped her be able to smell, and her eyes cleared up and she could seebetter was well. Then she wanted to smell everything , and still does. If I go out of the house she wants to smell my shoes and hands to see where I have been. If I bring something in the house with me she has to smell it and see what it is. Resistance is futile!!
Yoda is goingon two years old now and has grown into a sweet, loving, beautifullittle lady, with a wonderful personality, andis a delightful companion. I live with my daughter and her family, and they have dogs thatare not cat friendly, so Yoda is a house cat, staying in my part of the house. She has her windows and makes it her business to know everything that goes on inside and out. And of course, what would life be without taunting the dogs by sitting on the widow ledges and watching them bark their heads off at her while she nonchalantlyflips them off with hertail.
She also considers herself my computer assistant, monitoring print jobs, keeping the Mouse in check and making sure the keyboard isworking properly at all times. If she wants my attention she will sit on the floor by my chair and gently pat my arm with her paw. If I don't respond right way, she tries again. If I still don't respond in the time she thinks I should she then bites my elbow, as she knows that is sure to get my immediate attention.
My Mother was a lover of Siamese cats, and we always had at least, if not two, Siamese cats when I was growing up, as well as a number of various other breeds of cats. We also had dogs, who learned early that the furry 'lil creatures had thorns in their feet that really put a world of hurton theirnose, so they learned to 'play nice' with them.
I hope no one minds, but, I am adding a few pictures of Yoda as she has grown from the first day I got her toshare.

Hi Tink,
Your little Yoda kitty is a very pretty girl. It was a wonderful thing you did taking her in. So many homeless kitties end up with sad endings.
I have Wally. He is a snowshoe, which is from theSiamesefamily. He is about the same age as Yoda. Here is a picture of my boy:
Which brings me to how you can embed a picture into a comment. You can either copy and paste or you go to the second icon from the left, next to the word link and click on it. You then pick the file you want and choose the placement and presto!
Oh and one more:
They are both beauties! They look like seal points.
The embedding mode just makes it so easy to show off our pics, right? If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me!
Yoda is a cutie and bless you Tink for her rescue.
:~)
Cute!
Cats are well known for keeping mice in check!
She's a beautiful kitty. Can she fly with those ears ?

What a beautiful story ! Thank you for sharing, Tink. I believe animals (and little children) can "feel" when they are safe, loved, and accepted. I'm glad Yoda found a loving home with you! Here are my babies...who were also abandoned, but are now extremely spoiled! Our puppies have welcomed them right into our family....they are actually starting to kind of act like each other! ha ha ....We have a black lab who is almost 2 years old, and a rowdy little Bichon who is 5. Kitty (hanging on the chair like a little Diva) came to us about 3 years ago just crying her little heart out hungry. It broke my heart. Then my boys showed up last summer. I am so glad they did.
Yoda is beautiful!
I'm so glad that it was you who found her and have taken such good care of her! They are so helpless when they're babies-- and so reliant on their humans when things go awry!
She is a darling cat, and I'm so very glad youhave her!!!
Here are my boys-- I have a foster kitty named Andy, but can't get him to sit still long enough to take a good picture of him! (part of one ear is missing, so we named him Andy, for Raggety Andy...) Here is Pharaoh:
And here is my sweet BooBear:
Boo is not fond of hats. This picture is the result of lots of catnip ingestion!
Stephi, they are darling!!!
I love cats...
that is the sweetest story!
I used to dress my Grandma's cat, Baby Roo, in my baby clothes, and stroll him around in my mother's Shirley Temple baby buggy... He was NOT amused, and made his escape, shedding booties, bibs, gowns, and hats asquickly as possible.
Baby Roo weighed 18 pounds and beat up all the dogs in the neighborhood. He was a HOOT! I loved him dearly, and for all his ferocity, never once scratched me...
......first cat looks to be saying,....lady, there isn't enough cat nip in the whole state of KY to get me back in that air plane,....
just so you know,..the very talented Dowser did the Masked Cat for me,.....
Thank you, Dowser! Your babies are beautiful, too! They all have their own little personalities, it is amazing! I think they are really just "furry little people." lol
WHAT a HOOT!
I bet you're right!!!
LOLOLOLOL!!!
Thank you, Tink! I am amazed at the positions they assume to sleep....looks completely uncomfortable to us, but it is pure bliss for them! ha haa .....We should be so lucky to sleep so soundly!
Awwww.....they are lovely! Lucky them to have you!
Poor little Boo is a rescue, and he doesn't talk much. I can't get him out and about these days, he just wants to be in the kitchen, near the food...
Boo has had a hard life, and we got him from the rescue agency. He is happy with us, but, of late, doesn't come up much. Every time I see him, I give him joint medication on his leg, and he HATES it. So, I've become the bad guy and he's irked with me. He has some issues that were birth defects in his back legs, (he's called cow strut), and obviously, someone hit him, so we can't pet his head much, or it upsets him. He had a bad eye infection some time in the past, so he is both cross-eyed and blind in one eye. I love him so much-- and I think he knows it, he just doesn't want to be around that much.
I had a little Siamese named KokoMO, and called him MO. HE was my soulmate and best friend... He's been gone 20 years, and I still miss him!
I love kitties! I have two. A Medium Haired Tortie and a Maine Coon. Princess Jasmine Polydactyl and Miss Edith Belle Beauty. All the kitties here are so cute!
This is Miss Edith Belle Beauty.. My Heir
And this is Jasmine...the spare
And their names are priceless!
What beautiful kitties-- I just love kitties...
Wow, her ears are almost as big as her face, hey? The one with her and the printer -- looks like she is about ready to crawl inside, doesn't it? All very cute. Thanks.
