male nervousness
Expressions of male nervousness about females
I wasn't expecting to do another musical challenge so soon but here is a new one anyway .
I hope you are all looking for a strange musical challenge because this one fits that description .
The typical song involves expressions of male confidence and bravado about women .
But this one is to be about male timidity . Can you find examples of song lyrics which reflect male timidity or nervousness ?
Here is the example which came to my mind :
Land Down Under
"I met a strange lady
She made me nervous
And she took me in and gave me breakfast "
Interestingly this example was from an Australian group . Do we have to go out of the US to find such examples ?
For your examples please include a title and link . Also include the lyrics which express the timidity .

Here is another example . I went back to the 60's to recall this number from the Turtles :
So Happy Together
"If I should call you up
invest a dime
and you say you belong to me
and ease my mind "
Men at Work!
What a fun group and I can fondly remember singin' along with dorm buddies to there eccentric lyrics.
Thanks for the memory Rich!
Here's my submission...
It's only love... The Beatles:
I get high when I see you go by
My oh my.
When you sigh, my, my insides just fly,
Butterfly.
Why am I so shy when I'm beside you?
I see what you mean Larry . That is the ultimate in timidity !
Wonderful and captivating example P . Thanks for bringing up the Beatles .
John,
Wow.. you really do remember your oldies. I had forgotten about this one, too!
Great one John!
Here's another one from long ago :
The Girl From Ipanema
Oh , but he watches so sadly
How can he tell her he loves her
Yes , he would give his heart gladly
but each day as she walks to the sea
she looks straight ahead not at he
I grew up in Indiana and I swear I know the exact Hoosier Tom was talkin' about!
:~)
18, experienced and completely "growd-up"....uuhhmmmmm......
Yeah John . It just goes to show that timidity can come at any time in a relationship ...
Damn slow server ! I didn't see your comment John . Great minds think alike , blah blah .
Man ! Stuck in the "friend zone" , bummer ... Unfortunately because of P's comment there is no way to tell this was in reply to John's example : Close to Cathy .
Speaking of Cathy here's :
Cathy's Clown
Get a feel for the rhythm of this one ! It uses a military march to avoid the pain ...
I die each time
I hear this sound
Here he comes
That's Cathy's clown
That is exactly the situation you address on your other article Rich and good on you for bringing up the example---that helps!
Another awesome example John .
Here's a link :
The Everly Brothers were an amazing duo . They had so many great songs .
Yes they did!
What were some of your fav Everly's P ?
Another tale of the friend zone . That lyric link is cool .
I remember the Eddy Arnold and the awesome Ray Charles versions of that . Such a lyric and melody ...
Here is the Michael Buble link for Perrie :
Got another curve ball for ya, Rich. Perhaps this one leans more toward male subservience, but either way, there's no male bravado in it.
Little black riding hood . What big eyes you have ...
Wow Shelly . We've come a loooong way from the Turtles :
Yes.....yes we have.
Can't say I mind though.
Besides, you knew I'd throw in something interesting
I have come to depend on your curve balls . You keep it very interesting ...
A little sad news :
Greg Ham, Men At Work flute player, 'found dead'
Good choice Arch . Ironically only a supremely confident performer like T. Jones could have pulled off that performance .
In other news I am announcing the death of the flute player from "Men at Work" featured in my article .
