One of our most under-appreciated singers: Neil Diamond
I worked for a man in the mid to late 80s who loved Neil Diamond and had every one of his LPs. At the time I could take or leave him. It wasn't until years later that I began to listen closer and appreciate his vocal qualities and musical arrangements.
Today, while watching THE UPSIDE OF ANGER, one of his songs came on - Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon - and ZAP! POW!, it was like I was hearing it for the first time. Every once in a while a song will grab me like that, like I really am hearing it for the very first time.
So, without further ado, here is Neil Diamond with two of my favorite songs. Any other under-appreciated favorites?

Good one, Mike.
I recognize this after listening. Good one!
Didn't know Diamond wrote that song for the Monkees.
^ LOL, Mike!
I don't think I've heard this one. There are quite a few vintage pictures in this.
Ahhhh, The Diamond is great!
Thanks, Mike. I'm printing these instructions to keep close by when needed.
Sweet little snoookums.
I'd love to hold him (or her, whichever)
Cracklin' Rosie ~ Here's a bit of interesting information I bet you didn't know ...
Married to a catchy and dynamic melody and arrangement, the lyrics suggested to some a devotion to a woman of the night:
Oh, I love my Rosie child You got the way to make me happy. You and me, we go in style ... Cracklin' Rose, you're a store bought woman You make me sing like a guitar hummin' ...But in actuality, Cracklin' Rosie is a type of winedrunk by a native Canadiantribe that Diamond had visited in Canada.Apparently the tribe had more men than women. Cracklin' Rosie was the nicknamethey used for their homemade alcoholic brew, which the single men, who did not have dates, would sit around the fire and drink together.
Gives you a different perspective on the song, doesn't it. lol!
(Hey Mike, it worked! Good instructions)
Finally an explanation of those unusual lyrics ... Thanks Kori .
Wow, I never knew that. One of those mystery lyrics.
When I was young, my mom and I would listen to his music and sing along together sometimes at the top of our lungs lol. Always liked his music. I especially liked the "album" (no cd's back then) on the classic book Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Would love to find that one on CD.
