DALLAS -- New technology has disproved one of many conspiracy theories surrounding John F. Kennedy's assassination, CBS DFW reports.

Researchers at Dartmouth College said a famous photo of accused John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald holding a Marxist newspaper and a gun is authentic. They used a new digital image forensics technique and a 3D forensic model to prove the image's authenticity.

The same model rifle as the one Oswald's holding in the backyard photo was used to kill President Kennedy.

At the time, Oswald said the black and white photo was doctored to set him up for the murder.

Conspiracy theorists have long claimed the way Oswald was leaning and the lighting supported his claim. But researchers were able to recreate Oswald's stance, shadows and pose. The play of light and shadow was fundamental in the Oswald photo analysis for researchers.

This would be similar to seeing the Bruno Magli shoes (same style) on OJ Simpsons feet in photos and connecting that to the shoeprints left at the murder scene. Oswald had a gun the same as the known murder weapon. Clear evidence.

"The same model rifle as the one Oswald's holding in the backyard photo was used to kill President Kennedy."

I have a Winchester, M-1 Carbine of which 6,436,882 were made prior to and during WWII.  A weapon similar to mine was used to kill hundreds of people in Europe in 1944 - so having one similar makes me guilty, right?
