Nice picture. I did that with a White Barn Owl at the Sioux City South Dakota Zoo. The Owl was in a fenced Cupola, sitting at ground level-I was taking a profile pic, just as I pressed the shutter button, the owl turned and looked straight into the lens. I have that picture hanging as a 20' x 30' poster in my house to this day.

You may know the saying "f8 and be there!" I agree that luck has made many a good photo … great photos. But if we're "NOT THERE" and ready, luck and the great image will pass us by … and … we won't even know it!
