How to resize images to fit in the comment window properly

I have noticed that some folks have a problem with their pictures/memes/images fitting properly within the comment windows. Some are too far off to the right of the window and often cuts off part of the image.

I have found a way to adjust the images to fit within the parameters of the comment window very quickly and easily. The steps below should work most of the time. And if not, let me know and I'll help you figure out now to adjust them.

1. Click on the icon next to the smiley face on the bar at the top of the comment window to open the image loader.

2. Select Upload an Image

3. In the Size dropdown list select 384px - Extra large

4. Under Image click on Select and Image to upload

5. Navigate to the folder where the image you want to upload is located and click on it to load it into the comment window

6. Only part of the image will be visible at first, so click on the image to make it fill the window

7. If the image is too big for the window and extends off the right side, click on the image to select it.

8. You will see a small square on each corner and in the middle of each side.

9. Put cursor on the square to show a double ended arrow

10. Press down on the arrow and drag it toward the center of the image until it fits in the window properly.

Continue to drag the arrow to the center until it is the right size to fit in the window

11. If the image is too small to fill the window, follow step 9, but, drag the arrow in the upward direction until the image fills the window properly

These steps should help you get your images resized to fit in the comment window without a lot of fuss.

I hope this helps.

Great article Raven. I'm going to save this one for a while on the front page.

If you see this at the bottom of the image with the slider or whatever it is called then your image is too large.

Notice you don't have the slider at the bottom of the comment.  Sometimes you have to make the image smaller by pulling it in from the left side following Raven's instructions, because you can't see the right top or bottom.

You can also bypass the upload image by right clicking on the image from wherever you're getting it, choosing "copy" and then "pasting it here in a comment, by left clicking in the comment, then right clicking and choosing "paste".

Here's an HTML code method, using the HTML box, which you obtain with the "<>" button:

If you want a centered image:

<p><img style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src="URL of the image" alt="" width="650"></p>

650 is a good size for full width pictures, but you can use any number you like.

If you want an image on the side -- code to be inserted just after any <p>:

<img style="float: left; margin: 10px;" src="URL of the image" alt="" width="450">

Left or right, as you wish. You can even have an image (at width of 250 or less) on both sides of your text. Image size larger than 450 will leave very little room for text. 350 to 450 is pretty good.
