Words and Pictures

Mac used to give me beautiful photos for my poems. I know you would still do so, Mac, if I asked for it. Lately, I have been teaching myself the skill and I think I am making progress. I have been using my daughter's photography or my own or someone else's and my poetry or bits of writing to post for followers of my poetry. I am not as good at it yet as I would like to be, but superimposing poems on these photos is very gratifying. The combination of image and words just brings both to a new dimension and life. Thank you for inspiring me!

Neetu,

How wonderfully gratifying for you to feel that way and express it the way you have.

The image you posted looks to be wonderful … if you can post it larger, that would be great; if we can collaborate on future "Words and Pictures," I'd like that and I know our members would as well.

When you post a discussion, also post the first comment … that will get it on the front page.

Call on me any time.

Thank you, Mac! How do I make it larger? Hmmm, I don't know. Absolutely would love to collaborate!

Upsizing an original, depending on how much it's upsized will generally blur/soften an image; the key is to start with an image original that's at least as large or larger than the size it will be if/when printed and/or posted on-line.

No worries, Neetu; whether we use your daughter's images or mine, those along with your poetry/thoughts, I am confident regarding the results.

Start with the image size and resolution and then overprint the text large enough to correspond to the image.

Let's figure out some phone time and go from there. Once I know the camera and image editor you start with, the rest should be straight forward. And I would always be happy to collaborate.

Will send a private note via NT tomorrow and we'll go from there.

Good night for now.

Much better enlarged! Did you post the image as originally photographed and overprinted, or just slightly reduced in size?

Actually, I did exactly what I had done before except that I increased the size specs before uploading. Then I tried to enlarge but not too much, keeping the printed text as clear as I could within the enlargement, Mac.

Once I know which camera and which software your using we'll move forward … there are many possibilities with fonts and borders and various effects. I will send a private note via NT tomorrow and we can talk about what you'd like to do and the best ways to proceed …

Collaborations are great … but I am confident you can sparkle on your own as well.

Thanks, Mac, I shall look for the note tomorrow and proceed from there. I will get the camera model details. However, sometimes we use just the iPad camera! But this picture was taken with a simple Canon digital and I don't remember the model off the top of my head. But will have it tomorrow.
