Photo Captures The Emotional Moment A Police Officer Comforted A Toddler After Her Dad's Death
A police officer in Colorado comforted a toddler at the scene of a car accident that killed her dad -- holding her in his arms, and singing her a lullaby. A witness at the scene caught the emotional moment on camera.
Nick Struck of the Brighton Police Department was called to the scene of a fatal car crash on Thursday. Police said two adults and four children were involved in the accident ; one man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The mans daughter was reportedly one of the survivors.
When you hear that theres children involved, Ill tell you what, everyone that responds to that scene, you get that pit in your stomach , an emotional Struck told KUSA-TV. The first thing we do when we get on scene is we just try to, if we can comfort anybody, of course were going to go to the kids.
Struck gathered the little girl in his arms and began singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to distract her. A witness to the accident, Jessica Matrious, captured the moment in a photograph.
I have a two-year-old daughter and shes my first kid. So, of course, your first thought is that could be your little daughter, Struck told KUSA-TV. Im not a medical person, but I know how to give a hug to somebody, and you better believe every one of those officers on scene would do the same thing.
The photograph of Struck and the child has gone viral this week as netizens praise the officer for his compassionate gesture.
The Brighton Police Department shared the picture on their Facebook page over the weekend. We are extremely proud of the men and women of our department! Good work, Officer Struck, said the post http://thenewstalkers.com/forum/topic/new?target=http%3A%2F%2Fthenewstalkers.com%2F
