What's a Guy Like Me Doin' in a Place Like This?

Hair today … gone tomorrow.

I don't get to the barber shop much … I've been follicly-challenged for years; but once-in-a-while, when what's left grows over my ears and down the back of my neck … I'll go for my five-minute trim.

But, on my recent trip west, when I entered this old place in a souvenir store on Route 66, it was like stepping back into my youth; I asked the proprietor if I could take some pictures, and when she gave the "o.k" -- I knew I had the basis for a poster idea or two.

I just love how it worked out!

I think I have the Discussion in place now.

The unfamiliar subject matter confused me … Barber Shop? … What's that all about?

I go to the barber every 3 months and have a couple of inches taken off.

I love the photo, Mac.

I don't know, but when I went to click on the thumbs up it said "invalid item".  Anyway I have a friend who has one of the old barber chairs like that one.  I assume those are cracks on the sit from all the old farts getting their hair cut.

It's working fine now.  This friend's father had a barber shop with a bunch of barbers working in it.  They were located close to a military base and what they use to call the "Legs" walking to town would stop and get their hair cut there before going downtown to fight on streets. LOL

AMac, is that a bust of you back there or is that Yogi Berra?

It's my brother …

… who is an only child.

Our parents moved away before he was born so we never met them.

Having children is hereditary … if your parents never had any, you probably won't either.

Any further questions?

No seriously.  That bust of what looks like a ball player behind the chair and beside the sink looks like one I've seen before, but I can't remember who it was.  Just curious if you knew who it was.

I will see if I can enlarge it to the point I might recognize the face; I'm quite familiar with the old ballplayers but can't ID this one … maybe it's a race car driver. I'll try, Six.

Looks like the same guy in the photo to the left; the signature sort of looks like "Yogi Berra," but it's not. Maybe it's the guy who owned the barber shop.

Really neat picture!  I mean absolutely NO criticism when I say this, but it looks as if it were taken during a flash from a nuclear bomb...  Neat!  And I hope I never see this in real life!

That's because anyone who sits in the chair will …

… FALLOUT …

Sorry.

I guess I bombed with that one.

What else is nuke?

Stopping now.

Just finished another poster from the same souvenir shop (which houses the barber shop); will post it later.

I intend to share it with my barber.

I'm flat-topped … make that "flattered"; please share any feedback … be candid, don't split hairs.
