Former Playboy model Pamela Anderson urges people to stop watching porn

Pamela Anderson has detailed the dangers of pornography in a lengthy and impassioned column.

The 49-year-old actress, who herself was an unwilling porn participant when a sex tape starring her and then-husband Tommy Lee was leaked in 1995, has teamed up with rabbi counsellor Shmuley Boteach to pen a column for the Wall Street Journal .

In the column, Boteach and former Playboy model Anderson encourage people to stop watching explicit material for fear of ruining their relationships.

“This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays,” the column reads. “How many families will suffer? How many marriages will implode? How many talented men will scrap their most important relationships and careers for a brief onanistic thrill?”

They called pornography a “”dead-end outlet for people too lazy to reap the ample rewards of healthy sexuality” and labelled those who watch it “losers”.

It was written as a response to former congressman Anthony Weiner’s latest scandal, which saw the ex-politician ‘sexting’ a brunette while his son was in bed with him.

His wife Huma Abedin announced their separation shortly after the New York Post published the lewd picture , and Anderson and Boteach used the tale as an example of just how pornography can destroy a relationship.

“What is required is an honest dialogue about what we are witnessing - the true nature and danger of porn - and an honor code to tamp it down in the collective interests of our well-being as individuals, as families and as communities,” the column continues. “And if anyone still doubted the devastation that porn addiction wreaks on those closest to the addict, behold the now-shattered marriage of Mr. Weiner and Huma Abedin, a breakup that she initiated, reportedly, in shock at the disgraced ex-congressman’s inclusion of their four-year-old son in one lewd photo that he sent to a near-stranger.”

I read this yesterday and thought it was a great article!

I loved her comment:  “”dead-end outlet for people too lazy to reap the ample rewards of healthy sexuality” and labelled those who watch it “losers”.

I think that a fixation/obsession with porn can have a disastrous effect on a marriage or any other relationship.  Some of these people are pretty sick tickets-- and Anthony Weiner is a perfect example...

Pamela made her fortune off her ass, not her acting ability. But I'm sure millions of men would prefer live sex to porn so if she wants to make a dent in the porn industry, then she better get started. Will she be serving based on appointments or does she just want them to line up from Los Angeles to San Francisco?

Egads, you would have to pay me to get close to that skanky thing.

She was a forgotten entity until that sex tape came out.

That is where she gets most of her fame... (they probably leaked it themselves)

There is only one thing that PA sucked more at than sex, it's exuding integrity.

She got her fame from peddling her ass, and in that profession, it doesn't matter what your state of dress is...

I always love it when people have an epiphany after the fact.  Also, I'm curious if this article is a prelude to an installment of the Rabbi's book "Kosher Sex".

I think she's just jealous of her younger self. She used to be a sex fantasy that other men looked at instead of a real woman. She loved it and porn was fine. Now she's the real woman and men would rather look at her younger self instead of her. She hates that so now she wants to end porn. Basically, she's saying the same thing . . . look at me.

Know who else is on this band wagon?  Little Jaycee Dugard, the girl that was kidnapped and held captive for 18 years.  Clearly held by a sexual deviant, she said that pornography made her hell worse.

To me, there is tasteful porn, the Playboy kind, and distasteful porn, the slasher kind.  Some of it goes too far, if you catch my drift.  Pornography that incites violence, and I know you can't police the individual who may be using porn to get hepped up and go out and commit crimes, maybe should be discussed.

I don't see Pamela or Jaycee wanting to ban porn, just make people aware that some of it can be used in bad ways.  I take this as a call out to people who use the bad kind of porn...
