9/11 Lawsuits Against Saudi Arabia Flow Into Federal Court Under 2016 Law

A suit consolidating some of those actions was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, representing the families and estates of about 800 of the 2,996 people killed in the attacks.
It alleges that the Saudi government helped pay for the operation through its alleged funding of al-Qaeda terrorist camps and its logistical support for the group's transport of weapons, people and money around the world.
Few if any of the allegations, many of which mirror accusations in other lawsuits filed since September, appear to be new, but they add details to the assertions of 9/11 victims' families that elements of the Saudi government, one of the United States' closest allies in the Middle East, secretly backed the attacks.
As long as we are dependent on the Arabs for oil, I strongly doubt that justice will be done.
This is a really stupid idea. By eroding Saudi Arabia's sovereign immunity, we open the door to the erosion of our own and everybody else's. This invites everybody to sue us -- from the innocent victims of drone strikes to the families of the thousands killed in our invasion of Iraq.
Plus, not only can Saudi Arabia insulate itself by moving assets out from under our control, it pushes them away from us (perhaps into the arms of Russia and/or China) while we are forced to rely on acumen of the biggest ignoramus in American political history to navigate complicated Middle Eastern geopolitics.

JASTA ("Bill S.2040 - Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act') passed by YUGE margins:
My mother used to ask, "if your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?" Congress would have answered her with a resounding "Yes".
Congress has really opened Pandora's Box....I hope that they are ready for the blow back.
If you come to a fork in the road...take it!
Great....sue their asses off!
