How the Rest of the World is Reacting to the US Airstrike on Syria

Hours after President Trump ordered a missile strike on a Syrian air base, responses from the rest of the world are beginning to stack up.

The U.S. military operation, which fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at the Shayrat air base, was conducted in retaliation for an apparent chemical attack by Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces.

Russia, a staunch ally of Assad's regime, swiftly condemned the U.S. strike as "an act of aggression against a sovereign state delivered in violation of international law under a far-fetched pretext," as NPR's Bill Chappell reports .

The Kremlin says it will suspend the "deconfliction channel," which is intended to prevent unintentional conflicts with the U.S. in Syria, and the strike prompted the U.N. Security Council to convene an emergency meeting Friday.

A number of other international leaders also have responded to the U.S. show of force. Here's a rundown of some of their statements, from Syria's Middle Eastern neighbors outward.

Its going to be funny watching the crazy the next four years.

The three options with Russia:

Trump's too nice to Russia , he's obviously colluding!.

Trump's too hard on Russia, he's obviously colluding with Putin!

Nothing's changed with our relationship with Russia, Trump's obviously colluding!

Every option always points to a conspiracy in the mind of the hate filled, irrational loon.

Now the "theory" (it's really an insult to the word "theory") is that Russia decided to let Trump bomb a country under it's protection in service of Trump's poll numbers. Because if there is one thing a strong man leader likes to do when facing increasing domestic protests, it is to look weak internationally.  Of course a strong man would purposely allow himself to look like he can't protect a client state in order to help the poll numbers of a rival. If history tells us one thing, it's that strongmen whose rule depends on their prestige and perception of strength, voluntarily undergo humiliations to help others all the time.

It goes nicely with this as well:

Trump is a simpleton!

Trump is a mastermind who stages international conspiracies with foreign leaders to bolster his own numbers!

Watching the fever swamp dwellers murder logic in their frenzied attempts to "prove" their conspiracies is one of the pleasures of a republican presidency. The democrats really let their crazy out in public for all to see.

I look forward to the laughs.

Those laughs pale in comparison to watching Trump flip flop on an hourly basis.

Trump cares about saving children from gas attacks but he wouldn't offer those same children shelter from the other attacks that tear them to pieces. A real humanitarian. Instead of wasting $100 million dollars attacking an abandoned base, it would be far more useful if he would step onto the missile launcher and hurl his own stupid ass into Syria. It would simultaneously rid the world of Trump and bring the war to a stop by forcing everyone to work together to clean Trump off the windows.
