New Group : Five Ingredients Or Less Recipies
I am starting a new group. I am calling it Five Ingredients Or Less, and I want it to center on recipes that use five ingredients or less.
Easy to make tasty, and can be made in a jif.
5 ingredient recipes or 4 ingredient recipes often use sauces that are store bought, which is fine.
Liquids like water , milk or broths do not count as an ingredient.
I hope this will be fun.
Let's cook.
Chicken Stew 2 servings
2 medium sized chicken breast cut to bite size pieces
1 lb package frozen stew vegetables (thawed)
24 oz chicken broth
2 teaspoon cajun spice mix
2 tablespoon ketchup
flour to thicken
=========================
stir fry cut up chicken pieces until browned and cooked through
boil or steam your vegetables until soft. Drain.
put your broth in a large sauce pan and heat. add cajun spices and ketchup. bring to low boil.
stir your flour into a cup with water until smooth ( the amount should be to your individual taste) make a little and mix it into the broth until it reaches the thickness you like. if you need more flour then do it.
when gravy is desired thickness add cooked chicken and vegetables and stir it around until everything is coated with gravy.
eat.
This sounds delicious.
I also add a teaspoon of paprika but that was too many ingredients for the rules.
Asparagus and shallots
1lb Asparagus sliced diagonally about 1.5in long
1 medium shallot diced
2 tbs butter
salt and pepper
Melt butter over medium heat, sauté shallots until they start to become translucent, add Asparagus.
when asparagus begins to caramelize, salt and pepper to taste.
people who hate asparagus, like it, people who like asparagus love it.
if you can, post the recipie in the group also
Ok, will do
1 can corned beef
1/2 small onion chopped medium
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 can small peas (Optional)
1 cup water (doesn't count as ingredient )
2 tablespoons margarine/butter/oil
Saute onions and garlic in margarine until translucent and slightly caramelized. Add corned beef and water. Heat for ten minutes over medium high heat. Add peas and continue heating for 5 minutes more.
Eat as is or served over cooked rice for a fast and tasty meal. Hot sauce optional!
This will go on my "To Try" list...
Tomato, Corn, Meat (2 servings)
15 oz can whole tomatoes undrained
half package frozen kernel corn
teaspoon sugar
teaspoon hot paprika
some bite sized cooked meat or sausage of your choice
combine all ingredients in saucepan and heat through (medium ) until some of the water evaporates to your liking
the combination of the sweet and the hot with the corn and tomatoes is delicious
This sounds good. I will have to try it.
My favorite snack:
Toast, peanut butter, liberal dusting with lemon pepper.
Also delicious:
Bagel, cream cheese, liberal dusting with lemon pepper.
People always make a screw face when they see me eating it, then they try it and are sold.
Sounds like a fun group! I'll join it, if I may!
POOR MAN'S SHEPPARD PIE
1. 7% ground burger (enough to make 3/4 inch layer in a small square oven cook ware.
2. Small can of french cut string beans
3. Mashed potatoes (enough for a 3/4 inch fill)
4. Shredded cheese
Cook the burger and add spice if desired. My favorite is to add a little bit of Cajun spice.
Spread the cooked burger evenly first.
Layer the heated string beans next.
Layer the mashed potatoes, making sure the potatoes seal the bottom layers.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and heat until the cheese is melted.
Makes 2 servings or 1 if you are really hungry.
That's a good un.
3 Ingredient Lemon Bars
I make doughnuts quite often, I fill them with stuff I make and canned fillings. I had too many Lemon filling cans and didn't want to make more doughnuts. I ran in to this on a recipe site.
You need:
1 Box yellow cake mix
1 stick Butter-----DO NOT USE MARGARINE
1 can lemon creme pie filling
Mix the softened butter with the cake mix until it's crumbly.
Take out 1/2 cup of mix and set aside
Spray a 9 X 13 baking dish and pre-heat oven to 350
Cover the bottom of the dish with the mix and press it in very well. Don't b afraid to flatten it out.
Spread can of lemon filling on top of pressed mix.
Sprinkle the set aside mix on the top evenly
Bake for 30-40 minutes or when the topping looks like it's starting to brown.
Serve warm or cold. store covered in refrigerator as the bottom will get soggy if left at room temperature. Make sure to cut and loosen cool bars from the dish bottom prior to chilling.
You should end up with a nice "cookie" bottom with tighter lemon filling and a nice crumb topping. It was a hit in our house, but very sweet.
