It's Star Wars Day! Here are Six Ways to Celebrate
Merry Star Wars Day everybody!!!! While the Star Wars Celebration convention last month focused on the die-hard folks who could make it to Anaheim though we all got to see the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer May the 4th is a day for all lovers of Jedi, Sith, the Skywalkers, the Hutts, Boba Fett, Gamorrean Guards, the Rogue Squadron, General Grievous, Rancor Keeper and Nien Nunb to unite and celebrate all there is in the galaxy far, far way. (Why May 4, you ask? Why, its right there in the date, a play on May the Force be with you.)
The franchise has remained beloved to generations of fans since George Lucas original 1977 Star Wars , and thats nearly 40 years of various ways to get your May the 4th on. Here are some of our favorites:
Watch the movies. Or more likely, watch them again.
If you can believe it, there are some people whove never seen Star Wars . (Our mission: to get around to all of you eventually .)Nows the time to get busy and watch them all. Theres only six of them its not that bad. And if youre working, just start breathing consistently heavily like Darth Vader and take the rest of the day off.
For the rest of you nerds, revisit them any want you want. Theyre on digital platforms now. Blu-rays and DVDs, too. Chances are, some of you still have old VHS cassettes. To go really old school, dust off the laser discs.
Trytofocus on little things youve never seen or heard before. And we do suggestyou watch the original 1983edition of Return of the Jedi that took out the Ewoks celebration song and inserted Hayden Christensen (aka prequel Anakin Darth Vader Skywalker) into Dead Jedi Club at the end.
Yub nub. Never forget.
Binge out on Star Wars Rebels .
The animated series is the first new Star Wars content released in the Disney/Lucasfilm era and featuresa bunch of good guys rebelling against the Empire before it was cool. (Plus, Freddie Prinze Jr. voices a Jedi and awesome Selma star David Oyelowo is an Imperial agent with awesome sideburns. So, all kinds of win there.) Folks can binge-watch the entire first season on StarWars.com , and youll want to before the second season kicks off June 20and Lord Vader gets in on the action.
Let the blue milk flow.
Luke Skywalkers Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru had blue milk on their breakfast table back on Tatooine, and you can enjoy it as well. This recipe has three different variations, though if you take the Han Solo option, be sure not to drink and drive the Millennium Falcon.

Who doesn't like Star Wars?
I am more partial to the earlier episodes - we will be watching on e of the early releases this evening
May the Force be with you RIO.
Kavika
And also with you my friend!
I just read where the director of the new film has quit. Quite a setback for the new movie, I'm sad to say! Of course, with Han Solo injured, I'm sure that, too, was a set back! Link
Happy 4th!
I did not see that tidbit, thanks for the update
I am sure they will figure out some way to get the film made, since the franchise seems to manufacture money movies and memorabilia...
I'm sure they will, too-- I can see the elders not enjoying a "new" take on things, either... I certainly want to have some nostalgia left in it! I want to see Princess Leia and Han Solo's children, and Luke and all the rest... They are like old friends!
I took my son to see all the first three when they first came out in military theaters in Germany - he (maybe we) had all the associated toys to play with as well.
I still have a lot of Star Wars action figures, frozen in cups in our freezer. Matthew and his 'human' experiments... How many times can one freeze Luke Skywalker without his arms falling off?
I loved the first three from the 70s. Jar Jar Binks was a bit "jarring" in the first reboot. Then, I liked Haydn Christensen, but thought he was miscast. And then, the 3rd wasn't at all pleasant. There were some inconsistencies that weren't quite explained away, at least to my satisfaction, and I couldn't help but wonder why they killed everyone off.
Usually, as long as the dog lives, or the horse lives, or whatever, I'm ok with a movie. But, in these, there weren't any dogs or horses to root for.
Need more dogs! Always!
Neat idea, Feronia!
My son has a few things left in storage and a couple of the more elaborate (and expensive as I recall) figurines on display in the den
There was a wookie
Feronia
Excellent!
I think all of us love the wookie, Chewbacca!
And don't forget the Ewoks
