Election of Roy Moore, a win, win for Democrats
If Roy Moore wins today, the Democrats win, if he loses, the Democrats win, either way Democrats win. There is a reason I'm saying this, in the last election Trump won and, the Republican Party became the party of Trump, before that it was the party of the Tea Party. The Republican Party keeps digging itself deeper and, deeper into a hole. With the Tea Party in charge in Congress it has effectively stopped working, we have seen this for the past eight years, John Boehner said it when he retired, Paul Ryan said it this year and, Mitch McConnell has said it, the Republican Party in Congress is dysfunctional and, that only began when the Tea Party came in, they only want to cause dysfunction in Congress, they don't want to pass anything, except of course what their corporate masters have told them to pass but, they can't even do that properly, check the "Repeal and, Replace" of the ACA out, they voted about 70 times to do so and, every time they have failed to do it and, since 2012 they've had the entire Congress, they can't blame it on the Democrats.
When Trump was elected he made a lot of promises, build a wall, that hasn't been done, repeal, replace Obamacare, that hasn't been done, tax cuts for the middle class, the current bill gives tax cuts to the rich and, the corporations but, not to the middle class, he said he would protect the Dreamers, yet they are being deported in record numbers. Everything that he has taken credit for, jobs, the stock market, the economy, all can be traced back to the Obama Administration and, the Bush Administration, none of it can be credited to Trump or, any policy he has enacted because, he hasn't done anything except get rid of the Obama era actions that have helped to build the economy and, gain jobs. Since President Barack Obama first took office:
The economy has added more than 10 million jobs, and job openings are at a 15-year high.
The unemployment rate has dropped well below the historical norm, but long-term unemployment remains higher than at the start of the Great Recession.
The buying power of the average worker’s weekly paycheck is up 4.4 percent.
Corporate profits are running 152 percent higher, and stock prices have soared.
The number of immigrants caught trying to enter the U.S. illegally has dropped 53 percent.
Federal debt has more than doubled, and annual deficits, after shrinking, are again on the rise.
The home ownership rate has dropped by 4 percentage points.
The number of Americans on food stamps is up 36 percent.
Oil imports are down 53 percent, and wind and solar power have quadrupled.
The number of people lacking health insurance has gone down by 15.2 million.
Now, we have Roy Moore running for the Senate, not only does Moore believe that we were better off before the Civil War but, he believes that the First Amendment doesn't apply to him, he also believes that anything past the 10th amendment of the Constitution shouldn't be there so, saying that here's one of the amendments he believes shouldn't be in the Constitution, The 14th amendment was adopted in 1868, after the American Civil War, and addresses the equal protection and rights of former slaves. The 14th amendment limits the action of state and local officials. In addition to equal protection under the law to all citizens, the amendment also addresses what is called "due process", which prevents citizens from being illegally deprived of life, liberty, or property.
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.
Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.
Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
And, Moore doesn't believe this amendment should exist. The only reason I can think that Mr. Moore would want to be in Congress is so that he can "get rid of" such amendments to the Constitution, of course he may not realize that it would require every state voting on this, not just Congress. I served in the military, which means I took an oath to protect the Constitution and, our government from all enemies foreign and, domestic, I consider Mr. Moore an enemy of the government and, the Constitution and, no, it doesn't mean I'm going after him with a gun, I believe the pen is mightier than the sword, I believe that we can be more successful with the vote than with armed conflict. That is why I say that Moore's election can be a win, win for the Democrats in 2018, if Moore is elected the Republican Party becomes the party of pedophiles, every Republican running for office will have to answer questions about Mr. Moore and, Trump and, when they don't answer those questions the way the majority of the people think they should, those Republicans will lose. If Moore loses, then another Democrat will be added to the Senate, weakening the Republican hold on that body but, I still see a problem with Moore for Republicans in their home states later though.
