Cash Rained Down on an Indiana Highway as the Doors of an Armored Truck Burst Open
(INDIANAPOLIS) — State police say drivers clamored to pick up cash on an interstate in Indianapolis after the back doors of a Brinks armored truck swung open and hundreds of thousands of dollars flew out.
State police spokesman Sgt. John Perrine says investigators don’t know exactly how much cash was in the truck when its lost its load about 9 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 70 on the city’s southwest side. Perrine says it was definitely hundreds of thousands.
Officers blocked traffic as they helped collect money from along the highway. Perrine says an undetermined amount remains unaccounted for as some drivers stopped to scoop up cash.
Perrine says anyone who picked up the money could be charged with theft and he urged them to contact state police to return it.
It's raining Franklins! I wonder where my brother was at during the cash storm? I'm not sure how they can pursue charges of theft.....they would need ot have the serial numbers of the bills lost and evidence that someone took them.......I'm thinking someone at Brink's is looking for a new job today.......
if you were one of the drivers during this incident who stopped and picked up a few Franklins - would you contact the state police and return it ? (I would love to definitively say that i would, but i honestly don't know if i would... it's a big temptation)
Yep
Seems like this same thing just happened a few months ago somewhere else. Those things look like tanks - you would think that this would be an impossibility.
So why does this never happen when I'm on the 190, the 90 or the 33
I'd be right there with you!
What do they do, load loose cash through the roof? I thought it was bagged!
I'm guessing the doors weren't secured......but I thought they bricked it up too.
