'A Broken Culture Problem': Charlie Kirk Speaks to Chicago Residents About City's Gun Violence Epidemic

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk spoke to Chicago residents about   the city's gun violence epidemic   and what can be done to curb it.

Approximately 70 people were wounded and 11 were killed in Chicago over the weekend, and   more than 1,700 people   have been shot in the city this year.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a news conference on Tuesday that following the increased violence, additional officers would be deployed to the West and South Sides, where most of the shootings occurred.

One woman told Kirk the violence can be attributed to a lack of family values and morals, while a man pointed to children being brought up "with nothing to do."

As for Mayor Rahm Emanuel -- who has been under fire for his handling of the crisis -- Chicagoans told Kirk "we want someone else."

On "Fox & Friends," Kirk said the recurring theme when he spoke to Chicago residents was a "broken culture problem."

"We have a lack of father problem in the black community, especially in Chicago," Kirk said, noting that in the 1960s the single motherhood rate in the black community Chicago was approximately 18 percent, and that number is now over 75 percent.

"Think about that: In Chicago, only 25 percent of black youth will even have a father in the household," Kirk said.

He said that is a major factor in the seemingly endless cycle of gang violence and gun violence in the Windy City.

"And there's a lot of frustration amongst us Chicagoans about the lack of action from the mayor's office to address this problem correctly," Kirk said. "But the bottom line is [it's] a broken culture problem."

That's because their only solution is more regulations that don't work, THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE, and people are finally waking up.

Rahm knows that he can't push his "we need more gun control" card anymore, because the city's blacks, whites, Asians, and Hispanics are protesting him and his failed administration.  He tried to blame gangs for the shootings, but that hasn't worked either.

Really, guys, you should stop saying that gun violence happens because of too much gun control.  It is a foolish argument, especially concerning these gang wars.

What part of more gun control do you think will fix it?  As the current gun control, which is maong themost stringent in the nation, is not doing much of anyhting to protect its neediest citizens from gun violence?

What are your answers to fix this?  Telling people they shouldn't say this or that certainly hasn't helped, as you have a long history of doing this.  So, what's the answer?  Anything productive to add to the discussion?

I am not going to discuss Chicago gun control laws. They have nothing to do with this gang violence.

Oh, spare me! How do you know that what's been happening in Chicago is "gang violence'? Not long ago, Rahm blamed the Chicago shootings and murders on lack of "gun control". Now he's blaming the same thing on "gang violence". Cut from the same cloth, I see.

This is from Fox 'news' insider.  I'll take that for what it's worth, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

What does Charlie Kirk know about this?  WTF does that even mean - a broken culture problem?

So now blame this on not having fathers?  That's true for a lot of white families also.  That's true for a lot of families.

Typical 'conservative' smear tactic.

So, what, in your expert opinion, can be done to fix the problems?

Hi there, Tessy! Thanks for making thoughtful comments on another of my seeds. I always enjoy reading your posts. Regarding this seed, all you have to do is read the article and watch the video to understand why Charlie Kirk has great interest and knowledge about Chicago.

Then, if you're interested in more, you can learn why many educated Chicago residents of all races and ethnicities blame the absence of responsible male father figures in the home for Chicago's high shooting/homicide rates. This data is easily found on the Internet.

I have seen Charlie Kirk on videos. I think it's best that the homeboy stay out of Chicago neighborhoods. Frankly, he doesn't look like he could handle himself.

There is an issue with a lack of fathers in the black community. Mainly of them are in jail. When whites get arrested and convicted for drug possession they go to jail or prison at a much lower rate than blacks convicted on drug charges do.

Certainly a lack of fathers is a big problem, but so is a lack of opportunities for the disaffected black youth.

This is a problem not only in Chicago but everywhere.

Right wingers like Charlie Kirk like to being up black 'dysfunction'.  It is a point meant to reinforce white nationalism.

I think this is a definition for disaffected I would mostly agree with.

disaffected - Dictionary Definition : Vocabulary.com

disaffected

The adjective disaffected describes someone who is dissatisfied or rebellious. Usually if you're  disaffected , you're upset with people in authority. You and your fellow disaffected workers might become so upset about the lack of raises that you decided to boycott work.

Abnormal levels of gun violence  in communities will end when the people in those communities want it to end.  T

All the laws and regulations in the world won't matter  if a community prizes sheltering child killers over punishing them.

Good article and video. Unfortunately, those here who are whining about "conservatives" or Fox News won't bother with your valid contribution to this seed that comes from left-wing CBS.

The shootings and murder rates in our cities have many layers of culpability and there's no easy fix.
