Elon Musk Devolves into Insanity, Part 17
Elon Musk claims diver in Thai cave rescue is 'child rapist', without evidence

Well, he's at it again.  Have no idea why, but I do think he needs serious professional help.  Continuing to harass this hero diver on the other side of the world, while he has crisis after crisis at hoime, like his business faltering, problems witht he SEC and various other government agencies, and yet here he is, taking care of the important stuff.

Elon Musk has escalated his baseless attacks against a British diver, claiming without evidence that the man who helped rescue children from a cave in Thailand was a “child rapist” in an email to a reporter.

The embattled Tesla CEO faced widespread backlash in July when he first called the diver Vernon Unsworth a “pedo” in a tweet – an unfounded claim against a man who was part of the international team that freed 12 young footballers and their coach from the Tham Luang cave complex. Musk, who had unsuccessfully attempted to assist the rescue mission, eventually apologized to Unsworth. On Tuesday, however, BuzzFeed published two new emails from Musk, in which he called a journalist who has written about the dispute a “f-----g a-----e” and he launched new extraordinary claims against Unsworth, without providing documentation to support the allegations.

Musk called Unsworth a “single white guy from England who’s been traveling to or living in Thailand for 30 to 40 years”, alleging that he had moved to Chiang Rai “for a child bride who was about 12 years old at the time”. He asserted that the city was “renowned for child sex-trafficking”.

BuzzFeed reported that it had investigated the allegations and Unsworth’s background, but could not verify any of the claims and said that it was unclear where the allegations originated.

Unsworth, who said he was considering legal action after the original insults on Twitter, is now moving forward with a lawsuit, his lawyer said in an email to the Guardian on Tuesday: “Elon Musk’s campaign of publishing vile and false accusations against Mr Unsworth is inexcusable. Musk hopes to be sued and he deserves to be sued. He will be.”

Musk’s email to BuzzFeed, which was a response to Unsworth’s latest legal threats, said: “I suggest that you call people you know in Thailand, find out what’s actually going on and stop defending child rapists, you f-----g a-----e … As for this alleged threat of a lawsuit, which magically appeared when I raised the issue (nothing was sent or raised beforehand), I f-----g hope he sues me.”

Musk also defended his original effort to help the rescue mission in a follow-up email.

Musk confirmed to the Guardian on Tuesday that he had sent the email but did not immediately comment further. Tesla spokespeople did not respond to a request for comment.

BuzzFeed said it could not locate any UK criminal records for Unsworth, 63, and also spoke with his girlfriend, who said she was 40 and had been with him for seven years.

The controversy comes at a time when Tesla and Musk continue to battle intense negative publicity and embarrassing controversies. His seemingly impulsive tweets have repeatedly led him into trouble. Notably, Musk recently tweeted that he had “secured” funding to take his electric car company private, which prompted scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and backlash from investors.

Earlier this year, Tesla’s credit rating was downgraded to negative, with Moody’s citing a “significant shortfall” in the Model 3 production rate. The CEO also faced criticism after he slammed analysts on an earnings call in the spring, saying they should stop asking “boring, bonehead questions”.

After the first attack on Unsworth, some investors demanded an apology and criticized Musk for distracting from Tesla’s mission.

It really is bizarre, almost tourette's-like  behavior but I understand this isn't the first time Musk has done odd things like this.    Definitely an unforced error.

Also the cave diver's critique of Musk's "torpedo" was entirely accurate.    Musk should have kept his ego in check after that.    It must be a real nightmare to be a product development engineer and have someone like Musk in charge.

A/noon..As I said previously Musk is a maggot and I still stand by that....A despicable person who has an inferiority complex and can't stand the thought of a Brit telling him his little sub was useless....Even our mob said the whole thing was nothing more than a publicity stunt on Musk's behalf...and thought he was obnoxious...I back the Brit all the way and I hope he sues the arse of Musk...

That's definitely true.

Another unforced error yesterday:

A total of 48 executives have reportedly left Tesla this year, and analysts have downgraded the company's stock.

Tesla stock plunged 9 percent on Friday after a bizarre podcast in which CEO Elon Musk smoked weed and sipped whiskey , and two high-profile executives abruptly announced they were leaving the company.

Musk has found himself at the center of a lot of buzz in recent months, including some questions about whether he’s been using drugs — legal or illicit — and he may have provided the answer himself during a Thursday night podcast by comedian Joe Rogan. Musk smoked what Rogan described as a joint containing a mix of marijuana and tobacco.

The episode quickly added to the growing controversy over the South African-born executive’s behavior in recent months and increased concerns that Musk might be using other drugs. In an emotional August interview with The New York Times last month , the CEO said he was working as many as 120 hours a week , admitting that friends were worried he was facing exhaustion. The Times also quoted sources claiming that some members of the Tesla board were worried about Musk’s use of the sleeping drug Ambien.

Then, last month, rap singer Azealia Banks, a friend of the singer Grimes, whom Musk has been dating, claimed in a tweet that she saw Musk high on LSD at the time he tweeted about taking Tesla private .

That short-lived plan has triggered an SEC investigation, as well as at least two lawsuits filed by short-sellers who claim it resulted in losses of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Whether Musk has been using drugs, is suffering from exhaustion or, in his words, is struggling through an “excruciating” time of his life, his behavior is raising flags — and also appears to be contributing to the growing loss of talent at the California carmaker.

Over the summer, Tesla’s head of engineering, Doug Fields, someone Musk once described as “one of the world’s most talented engineering execs,” unexpectedly quit.

Now, two other key executives, including Human Resources head Gabrielle Toledano and Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton, are out the door. Morton’s departure was particularly surprising considering he joined Tesla only a month ago — a day before Musk’s infamous tweet suggesting he had “funding secured” to take the carmaker private.

.

If he is working 120 hours per week that will drive a person insane quickly.   I've done 90+ hour weeks for many months in a row on certain projects and it doesn't take long before one's productivity significantly drops and you start to hallucinate or otherwise behave abnormally.

I once did a stretch of about 11 days on 12 hour shifts, I was pretty exhausted.  I can't imagine sustaining 120 weeks.  That's 17+ hours a day, 7 days a week.....

Maybe that's what is cause this aberreant behavior.  He is truly a brilliant guy, but the line between brilliant and crazy can be pretty thin.....
