Music Video: Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
Wha????
Okay ...... so I'm sitting around this evening surfing the internet when I come across some music videos.
I recognize the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" so I click on it. As the video continues I become puzzled then alarmed. I'm like .....Wha? What in the heck is the video about.......
I must not have seen this video when I was younger or maybe I didn't understand the implications.
They were probably trying to win an MTV award.
I was never a big fan of music videos. I like to put my own mental images to songs, not some junk someone wants to force on you.
Well it was a little creepy.
I think some can be good art, and some can have an important message.
This one's more fun:
Hahahahahaha - your version is so much better than mine. But seriously - is she like a teacher having relationships with her students? I'm sooooo confused.
I think I'd rather not know.
OK as a teacher and a mom.. ewww.
You know I never gave that song much thought, and now I am trying not to think about it.
To me, the song itself is ok. Just one of those 80s power ballads.
But the video is just creepy. And not in a good, Halloween, things that go bump in the night creepy.
The video isn't about her fantasizing about the young boys, it's the other way around. She is portraying herself as the hot teacher that the boys fantasize about and that when they gaze upon her they are driving her crazy with wanting them, but since she is the teacher can't do anything but still wants them to come back, therefore fulfilling the boy's fantasy. Plus who is she trying to sell the music and video to? Young boys.
I vaguely remember hearing that it was supposed to be some kind of vampires-take-over-the-school concept that never quite gelled.
Yep - total miss
thats nice. nothing to do with the song. video really did ruin the radio
Yup, nothing at all. Which is probably why the whole thing comes across as absurd.
Turn around bright eyes
There's a deeper meaning to this video, which has been explored by many a psychologist. It is best explained here .
Nice play Hal. :0p
