Father apologizes for dressing son as Adolf Hitler for Halloween
"Tonight as we walked we saw people dressed as murderers, devils, serial killers, blood and gore of all sorts. Nobody batted an eye," Goldbach originally wrote. "But my little boy and I dress as historical figures and it merits people not only making snide remarks, but approaching us and threatening my little 5-year-old boy."

A Kentucky father has apologized for dressing his young son as Adolf Hitler for a Halloween event while posing as a Nazi soldier, saying his intent was to portray historical figures.

Bryant Goldbach also donned the uniform of a Nazi solider and headed to a "Trail of Treats" event in Owensboro, Ky., on Thursday, WEHT Eyewitness News reported.

"I think it was in bad taste for me to let my child to wear that, probably for me to wear that. It didn't occur to me. I thought it was a bad decision on my part," Goldbach said, according to the news outlet.

He added he would would "give anything to make it right."

Rabbi Gary Mazo of Temple Adath B'nai Israel said in a statement that Goldbach's apology was "important" but said it was a "sad reflection" on society that he didn't know it would be offensive.

"A good rule of thumb would be: 'If your costume calls to mind an event where millions were killed, choose another costume,' " he wrote.

Goldbach's apology came after he originally blasted the "so-called 'Tolerant Left' " for the treatment his son and him received at the Halloween event, WEHT Eyewitness News first reported.

Goldbach wrote that adults threatened to rip off his chid's costume.

"Yes, liberalism is alive and well," he continued. "And we had the displeasure of dealing with the fruits of the so called 'Tolerant Left.' "

Previous posts on Goldbach's Facebook page prior to his apology also criticize liberals, The Evansville Courier & Press reported.

Phrases like "white pride doesn't mean hate," and "being liberal means being a hypocrite" were included on Goldbach's social media.

You're allowed to dress up as homicidal maniacs, it's even encouraged, but dressing up as a genocidal maniac is just not okay. Millions of families had loved ones lost in that genocide which is a pain that may never go away. And sadly, the hate that sparked such an atrocity half a century ago is still alive and well right here in America as this last Saturdays violent tragedy proved.

Why would you even joke about giving someone rat poison..

I believe Rat poison is a good thing to give rats, unless ya want a house full of them, then ya feed em sugar and spice and lots of nice.

PS: Some can see a joke, others don't. Not my problem.

It seems to me, actually seems pretty obvious, that the father dressed himself and the kid like that HOPING that "liberals" would object and he could comment on how intolerant the left is.

"Yes, liberalism is alive and well," he continued. "And we had the displeasure of dealing with the fruits of the so called 'Tolerant Left.' "

This was a stunt. Poor kid has an ahole for a father.

Yep Just put on a nazi uniform and you're halfway there.

Once I had the "honor" of coming face to face with a real nazi dressed in full WWII SS regalia.

In retrospect, it was kind of funny.

I was a kid, between either 1st and 2nd grade or 2nd and 3rd grade, spending a few weeks with my aunt in Manhattan. The one who took most after my grandfather, the grey eyed Russian and still playing the game for all the kids, that we were German on that side of the family.

She never took the taxi or subway. She walked everywhere and did the the old world thing of buying fresh for each days meals at these little markets. She wasn't poor, she was married to a rich guy. That was just her way.

So one day, we are walking down some street and all of a sudden saod something to me and then left the sidewalk and began walking in the street.

I looked at her and could see she was looking at something else. I turned my head the other way and there is this guy, straight out of WWII. The nazi side, standing at an open door with the nazi flag at the door post, books on stands, people milling about inside.

I walked right up to him, "toe to toe" woth his shiny black boots. looked straight at him, as best I could from that angle, as he remained at attention.

Then my aunt comes up to take me by the arm and I clearly remember her saying "Get Away From Him". Off we went.

They are out there.

Well, she married a French guy who dispatched a few during the war, by hand and of course her father, my grandfather had similar experiences. She knew they meant bad news.

To a degree, my grandfathers nazi run ins gives me a little chuckle, but the last time I mentioned it the entire post vanished without so much as a comment. So, hmmmm?

This is not shocking to me.  This is what Mr. Trump, Mr. Pence and this Administration have become a symbol of.  Hate

I keep hoping his supporters will realize what they have become a part of.

We mold our children into the people we want them to be.  This young child had very little power in this decision and unfortunately he has no power in who his parents are.  I hope he will eventually have people in his life that can show him how to be better.

This is my opinion and it's based on what I see happening in our country.  You and other Trump supporters refuse to call it for what it is.  Maybe if you'd demanded better leadership and role model behavior from Mr. Trump and others in his Administration I would feel like I could trust your judgement.  But you continue to wear blinders and spout excuses while pointing the finger at everyone but the one person who has ALL the power in Washington right now.

I do think it's interesting that you had nothing to add about the actions of the father..

Not that interesting really.    I simply didn't have a reason to offer it.   But since you ask .....

Like many here I think his actions were in extremely poor taste but unlike others here, who want to pick and choose, i actually support his right of freedom of expression.   Even when that expression is distasteful to me.

What is very interesting though is how many people here don't get that concept.   Don't get it at all.

Lol, you really need to work on your rhyming skills if you think that is a good rhyme or is funny for that matter ..... but to each their own i guess.

Wrong!   None of your post passes the sniff test.    Have you not been paying attention?   Or perhaps you just have trouble dealing with reality and/or admitting the truth.

Clearly the left has become the party of hate.   Specifically the faction of the resist movement which is so loudly represented here on NT.   If you can't see that, your eyes are completely wide shut.

My thoughts on those five characteristics is, in scheme of things, Trump himself has done little to nothing to change them one way of another.   But then again i didn't spaz out on November 9th when i learned Trump won the race.   Nor did i develop an acute case of TDS because of it.

How about you?

Nope, thats just BS partisan rhetoric.

David Duke, a dormer Grand Wizard of the KKK, also loves to engage in "partisan rhetoric":

"Why we voted for Donald Trump": David Duke explains the white supremacist Charlottesville protests

David Duke, the former KKK grand wizard, is unambiguous about what Saturday’s alt-right and neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, means to him: It’s the fulfillment of President Donald Trump’s vision for America.

“We are determined to take our country back,” Duke said from the rally, calling it a “turning point.” “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. hat’s what we believed in. That’s why we voted for Donald Trump, because he said he’s going to take our country back.”

Duke was an enthusiastic supporter of Trump as far back as the Republican primary in 2016, and Trump’s  reluctance  to disavow that support was, briefly, a big issue.
