My grandfather was a DC firefighter for many years. Sometimes I would ask him about his job and what was the hardest part. He never wanted to talk about the specifics but one time he revealed he had nightmares about the children he had found too late.

Sadly it will be years/decades before the victims/survivors/first responders recover from this, if ever.
