Sergei Prokofiev - Montagues and Capulets
From the Wikipedia article : Montagues and Capulets, (Russian: Монтек и Капулетти) also known as Dance of the Knights, is a work of classical music written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The piece is the first one in the Suite No. 2 from Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64ter, which consists of two parts from his 1935 ballet Romeo and Juliet.
Just a quick and hopefully entertaining distraction for anyone who likes this sort of thing.
A powerful and upbeat orchestral piece with plenty of screaming violins can be very, very good for you.
Yup. It's true.
Goosebumps or shivers down your spine are signs that it's working.
Kudos to the National Youth Orchestra Of Canada. Even with a couple of mistakes it's still my favorite performance of this on YouTube.
Love it!
Forget Romeo and Juliet, though. This always evokes mental imagery of marching ogres for me, followed by an interlude of flittering butterflies or something, and then of course more ogres.
They sure don't sound like a youth orchestra.
