Amazing pictures of an olive python Australis 2nd largest snake & Western Australia's largest having a feed on an Australian freshwater crocodile (crocodylus Johnstoni )
Sadly this is what the Burmese phython is doing to the Florida Everglades. As an invasive species they are killing off the natural inhabitants of the glades.
When I lived in Australia I did see a couple of these snakes..Impressive to say the least.
Burp...

I have the idea that the croc was already dead when the python found it - there are no scenes of struggle.
I'm in favor of bounties to slow invasive species... but there's nothing that will really stop them.
I didn't think snakes, even constrictors, ate carrion. I have seen pictures of other snakes eating gators and crocks; but those were all still living.
Most invasive species have no natural predators to keep their numbers in check; so they can reproduce faster than than humans can dispatch of them.
Dunno about the carrion. I was kinda wondering, though, why the croc went so quietly...
Yum!
Thank you Bob, very cool stuff.
Tough way to have to fill your stomach.
True... but it's cool to only need to eat once a month...
